aẕku (p. 31) s. Beauty, comeliness, handsomeness, elegance, propriety, fineness, யௌவனம். (c.) 2. The beauties or graces of language or style, நஙலின்பத்தழகு. These as given in the பாயிரம் of நன்னூல், are ten; viz.: 1. சுருங்கச்சொல்லல், speaking concisely. 2. விளங்கவைத்தல், treating a subject clearly and plainly. 3. நவின்றோர்க் கினிமை, acceptableness to the educated. 4. நன்மொழிபுணர்த்தல், using elegant words, suitable expressions. 5. ஓசையுடைமை, being pleasant to the ear with a good rhythm and cadence. 6. ஆழமுடைத்தாதல், being comprehensive, profound. 7. முறையின்வைப்பு, systematic arrangement, method. 8. உலக மலையாமை, being without obscurity or contrariety. 9. விழுமியதுபயத்தல், giving a good sense, as allegorical, &c. 1. விளங்குதார ணத்ததாகுதல், having common examples of as to be understood by all. 3. One of the eight வனப்பு, in composition, the proper choice of words. (See வனப்பு.) 4. Jaggary, coarse sugar சருக்கரை. (M. Dic.) (p.) அழகன், s. [fem. அழகி.] A handsome man. 2. The quality of paddy, &c., imperfectly or moderately dried after boiling, நெல்முதலியவற்றின்காய்ச்சற்கு றைவு. 7. The state of being slightly parched, toasted, &c., வறுபடாப்பொரி. இளம்பயிர், s. Young shoots of corn, corn in a fit state to be transplanted. இளம்பருவம்--இளம்பிராயம், s. Juvenility, youth, early stage of existence. இளம்பறியல், s. That which is plucked when immature--said of cocoanuts. இளம்பாடு, s. Sufferings of nonage, இளமையிற்படும்பாடு. 2. Immaturity, unripeness, imperfection, இளம்பதம். இளம்பிடி, s. A young female elephant, சிறியபெண்யானை. 2. A woman, a lady, பெண்; [ex பிடி, a female elephant whose stately movements a lady is poetically described to resemble in her gait.] இளம்பிள்ளை, s. A young child. இளம்பிள்ளைவாதம், s. A kind of rheumatism to which young persons are subject, a kind of pleurisy. இளம்புல், s. Tender grass newly shot forth, முதிராப்புல். 2. The அறுகு grass. இளவடி, s. Imperfect distillation, இளம்பதத்தில்வடிக்கை. இளவரசு, s. The prince regent who performs the functions of government when the king becomes disabled by age or otherwise, இராசகுமாரன். 2. The heir apparent, பட்டத்துக்குரியபிள்ளை. 3. A king in his minority, குழந்தைப்பருவமுடைய வரசு. (பாரதம்.) இளவல், s. A younger brother, தம் பி. 2. A lad, a youth, இளைஞன். இளவாடை, s. Gentle north wind. இளவாளிப்பு, v. noun. [prov.] Dampness, moisture. இளவுச்சம், s. [in astrology.] The situation of a planet a little before it reaches the meridian, உச்சத்திற்கணிமையா குகை. இளவுறை, s. Incipient or immature curds. இளவெந்நீர், s. Lukewarm water. இளவெயில், s. The early sunshine of the morning; also applied sometimes to the moderated rays of the evening, காலைவெயில். இளவெலும்பு, s. A tender, unhardened bone--as in children, முதிராவெலு ம்பு. இளவெழுத்து, s. An unformed hand-writing, the first writing of a child, படியாவெழுத்து. இளவேனில், s. uruṭṭu (p. 65) கிறேன், உருட்டினேன், வேன், உருட்ட, v. a. To roll a ball, or wheel, trundle a hoop, &c., to wheel a barrow, to bowl, turn about, revolve a thing on a plane, to whirl, (a discus, &c.), passing through the air at right angles with the horizon, உருளச்செய்ய. 2. [prov.] To defeat a rival by arguments, sophistry, &c., to overcome in athletic exercises, games, to overmatch, வெல்ல. 3. To beat a drum rapidly, to beat a ruffle, மத்தளம்விரை வாயடிக்க. 4. [in architecture.] To form a moulding, திரட்ட. 5. To form clay or other substances into balls or globules by rolling, working in the hand, &c; குண் டுருட்ட; [ex உருள், v.] உலகுக்குநாயகனாயோராழிதனியுருட்டி. Guiding the wheel of power as the sovereign of the universe. அவனைப்புடையனுருட்டும். The beaver snake will bite, will tumble him over (and bite him). (A curse.) உருட்டித்தைக்க, inf. To roll and sew a border--a kind of hemming. உருட்டிப்பார்க்க--உருட்டிவிழிக் க, inf. To roll the eyes and look intently with signs of anger or intimidation. உருட்டிப்போட, inf. To roll a ball, &c. 2. To defeat by arguments, by a display of skill, or by sophistry, to overcome in games, &c., புரட்டிவிட, 3. To be the cause of ruin to a family, &c., அழித்துப்போட. அசத்தியமந்தக்குடியையுருட்டிபோட்டது. Perjury has ruined the family. ஆனையவனையுருட்டிப்போட்டது. The elephant rolled him over and over. உருட்டுதிரைக்கடல், s. The sea with rolling billows. குளிகையுருட்ட--மாத்திரையுருட் ட, inf. To form or make pills. (Med.) நாயுருட்ட, inf. To tumble down and bite--said of a dog. வாயாலுருட்ட, inf. To use sophistry, to dispute clamorously. கவறுருட்ட, inf. To throw dice'. உருட்டு, v. noun. Rolling, revolving on a plane, the revolution or turning of a wheel, whirling, உருட்டுகை. 2. Fraud, artifice, trick, sophistry in overcoming an antagonist, புரட்டு. 3. [in architecture.] Roundness, globosity, moulding, திரட்சி. 4. Terrifying, frightening, driving away, வெருட்டு. உருட்டும்புரட்டுஞ்சிரட்டையுங்கையும். Prevarication and lying lead to begging. [prov.] உன்னுடையவுருட்டுக்குப்பயப்படேன். I fear not your sophistry. உருட்டுப்புரட்டுள்ளவன், s. A man of tricks and frauds. உருட்டுவண்ணம், s. A poem, or song composed of syllables occurring in rapid succession. குண்டுருட்டு, s. The roundness of a bullet or ball. குண்டுருட்டாய்க்கட்ட, inf. To tie up a person head to heels. பொன்னுருட்டு, s. eccm (p. 73) s. Deficiency, defect, lack, குறைபாடு. 2. Remainder, remnant, சேஷம். 3. Orts, remains of food, whatever has come in contact with the mouth. spittle, &c., being deemed defiled, எச்சில். 4. Posterity, offspring, சந்ததி. 5. The dung of birds, fowls, wall-lizards, &c., பறவைமுதலி யவற்றின்மலம். 6. An elliptical, or unfinished word, sentence, பெயரெச்சமுதலியன; [ex எஞ்சு.] (p.) எச்சத்தாற்காணப்படும். (Their deeds) will be manifest in their posterity; i. e. in the prosperity, or adversity of their offspring. எச்சமிட, inf. To discharge excrement--as birds, &c., பறவைமலம்விசர்ச் சிக்க. பகையெச்சம். s. Suppressed anger. தீயெச்சம், s. The remainder of fire--as, வினைபகையென்றிரண்டினெச்சம், நினை யுங்காற்றீயெச்சம்போலத்தெறும், (Warlike) deeds which are not pushed to extremity (in the destruction of a foe) and hatred which is not executed but suppressed, will destroy like fire unextinguished. (குறள்.) நோயெச்சம், s. A reduced disease, the remains of a disease. ஈரெச்சம், s. In Grammar, the two classes of unfinished words. I. பெயரெச் சம் or participles, lit. words which require nouns to complete them. These embrace two classes, viz.: (1.) தெரிநிலை ப்பெயரெச்சம், or the participle of the common verb--as, வந்தமகன், the man who came; வருகின்றமகன், the man who comes; வரும்பிள்ளை, the child that will come. (2.) குறிப்புப்பெயரெச்சம் or பெயரெச்சக்குறிப்பு, the participle of the symbolic verb, which always ends in அ and often has the force of an adjective--as கரியகுதிரை, a black horse; கடுங்கண்ணகுதிரை, a fierceeyed horse, or a fierce horse; பொன்னகு திரை. a gold-like horse; அமர்முகத்தகுதிரை, a horse in the front of a battle; மூவிலைய வேல், a three-forked dart, a trident. II. வினையெச்சம், unfinished verbs, or such forms of the verb as require other terminate verbs, &c., to complete the sense. (1.) தெரிநிலைவினையெச்சம். In the past, it is called by Beschi, a gerund; there are five varieties; i. e. (1.) செய்து, பண்ணி, நிறீஇ for நிறுவி or நிறுத்தி; வளைஇ for வளைந்து or வளைத்து; இரீஇ for இருந்து or இருத்தி; கூய் for கூவி. (2.) செய்பு. (3.) செய்யா. (4.) செய்யூ. (5.) செய்தென--Notes. The first is the most common, and the only kind found in colloquial use. 2. The present, or infinitive, செய or செய்ய. 3. The future comprising six varieties. 1. செயின், செய்யின், செயில், செய்யில், செய்கில், these are all future subjunctive forms. 2. செய்யிய. 3. செய்யியர். 4. செய்வான். 5. செய்பாக்கு. 6. உண்பான், this termination occurs after a nasal only. The last five are equivalent to the infinitive, &c., they may be rendered by that with the potential of the verb, as given in நன்னூல். A few may be added: 1. செய் தால், the common subjunctive of the past, but often used for the future. 2. செய்தக்கால். 3. செய்தக்கடை, past or future subjunctives. 4. செய்தலும், காண்டலும். 5. செய்தலோடும், implying when, or as soon as. 6. ஏல், a contraction of எனில், is, in poetry, added to any finite verb to form the subjunctive--as உண்ணுமேல், உண்ணுமெனில். 2. வினையெச்சக்குறிப்பு or குறிப்புவினையெச்சம், gerund of symbolic verbs; of these there are but two, இன்றி and அன்றி from இல் and அல், these symbolic verbs being redundant. சொல்லெச் சம், elliptical, or incomplete words, or classes, ten in number. 1. பெயரெச்சம், participles as given above. 2. வினையெச் சம், unfinished forms of the verb. (See above.) 3. உம்மையெச்சம், a sentence in which a second உம் and its adjunct are understood--as, சாத்தனும்வந்தான், Sattan also is come, implying that others are come or expected. 4. சொல்லெச்சம், a clause in which சொல்லல் is understood --as, என்றார் for என்றுசொன்னார். 5. பிரிநிலை யெச்சம், a clause in which an exception of persons, or things is implied, see ஏ and ஓ--as, அவனேகொண்டான், he bought it, implying that others did not. 6. எனவெனெச்சம், a clause in which a verb, or a noun is required after என--as, கடலொல்லெனவொலித்தது, the sea roared with the sound of ஒல். 7. ஒழியிசையெச்சம், a clause in which a counterpart is understood--as உண்ணுதற்கோவந்தான், was it to eat that he came (implying that his object was otherwise)? 8. எதிர்மறை யெச்சம், the ellipsis of a negative, or denial--as அவனோகொண்டான், Was it he that bought it (implying a negative answer). 9. இசையெச்சம், ellipsis generally comprising two or more words, such as are not found in the above--as நின்னையா னகன்றாற்றுவனோ, Can I endure separation from you (indicating an affectionate attachment to the party addressed)? 1. குறிப்பெச்சம், symbolic terms, contractions, abbreviations, &c., comprising several kinds. (See குறிப்பு.) There is another form called முற்றெச்சம், a finite verb used in the place of a gerund--as உண்டான்வந்தான் for உண்டுவந்தான், eating he came. எச்சமிட, inf. To befoul, to soil with dung--spoken of birds. எச்சவனுமானம், s. Inference of a past cause from a present effect. See அநுமானம். எச்சவாய், s. [vul.] The sphincter of the anus, the podex, குதம். அட்டவெச்சம், s. The eight defects in the human body; i. e. 1. சிதடு or குருடு, blindness. 2. ஊமை, dumbness. 3. செவிடு, deafness. 4. கூன், crookedness of the back. 5. குறள், dwarfness. 6. முடம், lameness. (சது.) (in பிங்கலந்தை and திவாகரம், யகண், மா, hermaphroditism). 7. உறுப்புமயக்கம், a monstrous birth either by redundancy, defect, or misplacing of the members, &c. 8. உறுப்பில்பிண்டம், a shapeless production, or a birth with the features not properly developed. 23)

eṭu (p. 73) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To take up, lift up, raise, தூக்க. 2. To take off, take away, extract, take out, remove a stain, dirt, humor, &c., or one body from another, chemically, or otherwise combined, ஒன்றிலிருந்தெடுக்க. 3. To undertake, take in hand, enter upon, தொடங்க. 4. To adopt--as a sentiment, &c., receive, take--as one's own, அங்கீகரிக்க. 5. To take a subject, to discourse, write, think on, look out, find a place in a book, &c., ஆராய்ந்தெடுக்க. 6. To adduce (an argument), ஒன்றையெடுத்துப்பேச. 7. To strike (a sound), pitch the key-note, to try the lightness of a bow-string by striking it, இசையெடுக்க. 8. To select, choose, (as a spot, for a house, a well, &c.), தெரிந்துகொ ள்ள. 9. To buy, purchase (chiefly applicable to cloth), வாங்க. 1. To bear, carry, sustain, சுமக்க. 11. To weigh in a balance, நிறுக்க. 12. v. n. [in combination.] To rise, extend itself, become spread, or liffused, to be attacked with pain, &c., மயக்கமெடுக்க. 13. To swell, heave, rise in billows, எழும்ப. 14. To keck, puke, vomit, வாந்தியெடுக்க. எடுக்கத்தொடுக்கவிடான். He will not let me begin; spoken figuratively in allusion to the discharge of arrows. எடுப்பாரும் பிடிப்பாருமுண்டானாலிளைப்புந்தவிப்பும் மெத்தத்தோன்றும். Where there are many attendants much trouble is experienced. பிள்ளைக்குமூக்கெடுக்க. To raise or force out the upper part of the nose of an infant--as a nurse by pressing with two fingers. அரசனாலயமெடுத்தான். The king has built a temple. இந்தப்பாரமெடுக்கமாட்டேன். I am unable to carry this load. அதையெடுத்துப்பேசினான். He took up the subject. யானைதும்பிக்கையினாலேபணத்தையெடுக்கும். The elephant will take up a small coin with his proboscis. ஏரியெடுத்துப்போகிறது. The water of the lake has carried away its embankment. இதினாலிலாகிரியெடுக்கும். This will cause intoxication. சோற்றிலிருக்கிறகல்லையெடுக்கமாட்டாதவன்மோக னக்கல்லைத்தாங்குவானா. Will he who cannot pick out a stone from rice be able to lift the stone architrave of a temple vestibule? i. e. he who is incapable of little matters must be incapable of great ones. விழுந்தவனையெடாமலுதைக்கலாமா. Is it proper to kick, instead of raising, a fallen man? இந்தச்சீலையையெந்தக்கடையிலெடுத்தாய். In what bazaar did you buy this cloth? புல்லெடுக்கிறதரை. Ground covered with an exuberant growth of grass. எடாதஎடுப்பு, s. Living above one's rank, circumstances, means, &c., engaging in an enterprise, beyond one's powers, &c. எடாதஎடுப்பெடுக்கலாகாது. It is improper to engage in an enterprise above one's circumstances. எடுகூலி, s. Porterage, hire for carrying burdens, சுமைக்கூலி. எடுத்தடிமடக்கு, s. Retort, turning a person's reasons or remarks against himself, confuting one by his own arguments, anticipating a person in word, or action, in order to check, or thwart him in his object; interrupting one in speaking, &c. 2. Temerity, rashness; speaking, answering, or acting rashly, துணிவு. எடுத்தடிவைக்க, inf. To begin to step--as a child, காலைப்பெயர்த்துவைக்க. எடுத்தபடி, adv. Suddenly, at once, promptly, extemporaneously. எடுத்தமொழியினெய்தவைத்தல், v. noun. An author's forming rules applicable to the examples he finds-one of the உத்தி. எடுத்தலளவையாகுபெயர், s. One of the four kinds of அளவையாகுபெயர், according to which, the weight of the article weighed is used for the scale. எடுத்தாட்சி, s. A thing much in use, வழக்கம். எடுத்தார்கைப்பிள்ளை, s. A docile, tractable, yielding person; one who has no opinion of his own. எடுத்துக்கட்ட, inf. To fabricate, invent. எடுத்துக்கட்டு, v. noun. Fabrication, கட்டுக்கதை. 2. Invention--as of a word. எடுத்துக்காட்டல், v. noun. An author's adducing examples, illustrations, &c. (See உத்தி.) 2. Citing, quoting, &c. எடுத்துக்காட்டு, s. An example, illustration, உதாரணம். எடுத்துக்கைநீட்ட, inf. To help one--as a waiter, or attendant. எடுத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To take to one's self, தனக்காகக்கொள்ள. 2. To accept, admit, approve, ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள. எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோக, inf. To take, to carry away. எடுத்துச்சொல்ல, inf. To quote, cite, பிறர்கருத்தைஎடுத்துக்கூற. 2. To give one's own opinion, தன்கருத்தையெடுத்துக்கூற. எடுத்துத்தொடுக்க, inf. To fabricate, invent, எடுத்துக்கட்ட. 2. To pick quarrels, institute a lawsuit, commonly on frivolous grounds, வழக்குப்பிணைக்க. எடுத்துப்பிடிக்க, inf. To hold up and expose little faults to view, தூக்கிக் காட்ட. 2. [with accus. of person.] To praise, commonly one absent, துதிக்க. எடுத்துப்போட, inf. To deprive a person of office, situation, &c., to turn out, displace, dislodge, தள்ளிப்போட. எடுத்தேற்றம், s. Random. எடுத்தேற்றமானவேலை, s. A thing done at random. எடுத்தேற்றியாயிருக்க, inf. To be unequal, uneven, discrepant in size, character, rank, &c.; to be irregular, இணக்கமின்றியிருக்க. எடுபட, inf. To be taken up, out, away, &c., நீக்கப்பட. 2. To rise, part, to be detached, displaced, dislodged, எழும்ப. 3. To be abolished, terminated, அழிந்துபோக. 4. To be led away by evil, ill-advice, நியாயந்தவற. 5. To leave one's station, place of residence, &c., to leave and be no more heard of (used in an ill sense), காணாமற்போக. 6. To be overcome in argument--as a party in controversy, &c., to be confuted, தோற்றுப்போக. அவள்பேச்சினாலயலெல்லாமெடுபடுகின்றது... The whole neighborhood is raised by her clamor. எடுபட்டவள், s. A lewd woman, குடும்பத்தைவிட்டுவெளிப்பட்டவள். எடுபட்டுப்போக, inf. To be raised --as a siege. 2. To be abolished. 3. To be defeated. அங்கிருந்தபள்ளிக்கூடம்எடுபட்டுப்போயிற்று.... The school which existed there formerly has been abolished. உன்னால்நானெடுபட்டுப்போவேனா. Am I to be defeated by you? எடுபாடு, s. Celebrity, a high style of living, notoriety in a good or bad sense, உயர்ச்சி. 2. Abolition, அழிகை. 3. Gaiety, in dress, in a woman, a lax, or lascivious disposition, மேட்டிமை. எடுப்பிக்க, inf. To cause to raise, or lift up. மனிதவதாரமெடுக்க, inf. To assume the human form, to become incarnate. வெறியெடுக்க, inf. To be intoxicated. வெறியெடுத்தவன், s. One who is intoxicated. பெயரெடுக்க, inf. To assume an appearance, a name, a character, &c.; to acquire a name, celebrity. நூலெடுக்க, inf. To disentangle thread. வாயாலெடுக்க--வாயிலெடுக்க, inf. To vomit. தொழிலெடுக்க, inf. To enter upon an occupation. 2. To suspend one from office. பூவெடுக்க, inf. To gather flowers. கிணறெடுக்க, inf. To dig a well. 2. [prov.] To select a spot for a well in reference to the situation of the house and other surrounding objects that ill luck may not result, as also to the nature of a soil or the depth at which water may be found, judged of by the produce of the land, &c. வயிறெடுக்க--வயிறுகடுப்பெடுக்க, inf. To have a looseness. தானெடுத்துமொழிதல், v. noun. [in works of science.] The adoption of rules, or language from other authors. See உத்தி. எடுப்பு, v. noun. The act of taking off, taking up, தூக்குகை. 2. Elevation, உயரம். 3. Taking in hand, undertaking attempt, engagement, தொடங்குகை. 4. Insolence. arrogance, pride, haughtiness, superciliousness, இறுமாப்பு. 5. Elation, a style of living above one's rank, circumstances, மேட்டிமை. 6. Abusive words, நிந்தை. எடுத்தஎடுப்புவிடான். He will not desist from his purpose. வாயெடுப்பாய்ப்பேசுகிறவன். One who talks arrogantly. ஒருவன்மேலெடுப்பெடுத்தல். Publishing the faults of another. எடுப்பாயிருக்க, inf. To be high. எடுப்பானவன், s. A haughty person, an upstart, one who lives above his rank or circumstances, மேட்டிமைக் காரன். எடுப்புச்சாய்ப்பு, Gentility, genteel and obliging behavior, united with display, pomp, grandeur, &c., உயர்வுதாழ்வு. எடுப்புண்டது, appel. n. That which is taken and carried away. எடுப்புத்தேர், s. A small portable shrine for the conveyance of an idol on men's shoulders--opp. to இழுப்புத்தேர். கல்லெடுப்பு, s. A funeral rite. எடை, v. noun. Taking up, தூக் குகை. 2. Weighing, நிறுக்குந்தொழில். 3. A weight, நிறையளவு. 4. Assumption, adoption, ஏற்றுக்கொள்கை. 5. [ex எடுப்பு, to rouse.] Rousing from sleep, &c., எழுப் புகை. oyyārm (p. 83) s. Graceful gestures, or movements, stateliness, a dignified air, superior bearing, ஒயில். 2. Affectation, foppery, display, vanity, சளுக்கு. ஒய்யாரக்காரன், s. A haughty person, a coquette. ஒய்யாரநடைநடத்தல், v. noun. Walking gracefully, or affectedly. ஒய்யாரப்பேச்சு, s. Graceful or affected speaking, big words. 9)

oẕi (p. 84) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To cause to cease, to make an end of, to finish, முடிக்க. 2. To put away, divest, cast off, remove, dismiss, expel, banish, repudiate. divorce, exclude, explode, displace, dislodge, தள்ள. 3. To except, exempt, avoid, omit, தவிர்க்க. 4. To clear out make empty, vacate, exhaust, தீர்க்க. 5. To ruin property, circumstances, &c., அழிக்க. 6. To kill, destroy, கொல்ல. 7. To renounce, relinquish, dispense with, துறக்க. (p.) கோதாட்டொழி. kṭttu (p. 87) கிறேன், கடத்தினேன், வே ன், கடத்த, v. a. To remove, to transplace, பெ யர்க்க. 2. To cause to go, to drive, செலுத்த. 3. To dismiss one with an excuse without complying with his request, to decline compliance, விலக்க. 4. To do work carelessly, to slight, act with eye service, pass time idly, கழப்ப. 5. To put one off, delay, postpone, evade, தவணைசொல்ல. 6. To lengthen out a work, delay in performance, நீட்டிக்க. வேலையைக்கடத்திப்போட்டான். He has evaded the duty under some pretence. கைக்கொண்டதொறுவைக்கடத்தி. Driving home the cows which they had recovered-(பாரத.) ஆளைக்கடத்திவிடுதல். Getting rid of one who solicits favors. பொருளெல்லாங்கடத்திப்போட்டான். He abstracted the property by force or by stealth. தருகிறோமென்றுகடத்திப்போட்டார். kāṭṭu (p. 103) கிறேன், காட்டினேன், வேன், காட்ட, v. a. To show, exhibit, display, adduce, manifest, reveal, evince, disclose, set forth, காண்பிக்க, 2. To designate, suggest, சுட்டிக்காட்ட. 3. To describe, define, தெரிவிக்க. 4. To demonstrate, prove, உரூபி க்க, 5. To present to an idol, &c., to offer, நிவேதனஞ்செய்ய. 6. To make a display of jewels, &c., தெரியக்காட்ட. 7. To put forth, develop, வெளிப்படுத்த. 8. To reflect an object--as a mirror, water, &c., சாயைகாட்ட. 9. To remaind, நினைப்பூட்ட. காட்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To betray, discover a person to his enemies. 2. To accuse one. 3. To teach or shew a person the method of doing anything. காட்டிமறைக்க, inf. To tantalize a person, by offering something to him, and snatching it away at the moment he is about to take it. புகைகாட்ட, inf. To smoke any thing--as plantains, in order to ripen them the sooner. தெரியக்காட்ட, inf. To show plainly, to demonstrate. வரக்காட்ட, inf. To send off, despatch. தேவரிர்வரக்காட்டினநிருபம். The letter which you have despatched. (Besch.) சொல்லிக்காட்ட, inf. To explain, relate. தன்னைக்காட்ட, inf. To make one's self known, to make one's character, ability, &c. appear where he is unknown, &c. 2. To make a display. 3. To show one's character, &c., by outward conduct. சத்தங்காட்ட, inf. To cry aloud. தூபங்காட்ட, inf. To burn incence. தண்ணீர்காட்ட, inf. To water sheep, horses, &c. காட்டல், v. noun. Manifestation. 2. Act of showing or pointing. சுட்டல். காட்டில்--காட்டிலும். (with a noun.) Than. 2. (with an infinitive.) As soon as, the moment before, the very instant. பொழுதுபோகுங்காட்டிலும்நித்திரையென்ன... Why do you go to sleep as soon as the sun sets? அதைக்காட்டிலுமிதுசிறப்பு. This is more beautiful than that. நான்கொடுக்குங்காட்டிலுமெடுத்தெறிந்துபோடுகி றான். kāṇ (p. 103) கிறேன், கண்டேன், பேன், காண, v. a. To see, perceive, behold, view, descry, பார்க்க. 2. To gain sight of a deity, or a great person, the new moon. &c., மங் கலமாகக்காண. 3. To find, meet with, ascertain, gain the knowledge of, be aware of, recognize, தெரிய. 4. To experience, know, feel, உணர. 5. To discover, invent, originate, கண்டறிய. 6. To think, consider, invistigate, ஆராய. 7. To obtain, get, secure, have, derive, பெற. 8. To know the truth, perceive the deity in the vedas and other sacred writings, உண்மையறிய. 9. (p.) To pick up, find and pick up. கைகண்டது, s. That which was experienced, ascertained by practice, tested, proved--as கைகண்டமருந்து, கைகண் டகாரியம், கைகண்டதுணை. காணப்பட, inf. To appear, to be perceived, seen. காணப்படாத, rel. part. Invisible. காணப்படாதது, appel. noun. That which is invisible. காணப்பட்டது, appel. n. That which is visible. காணப்போக, inf. To visit one. காணக்கடி, s. An unseen bite, sting, &c., the bite, &c., of a reptile, in the dark, அறியாவிஷக்கடி. காணாக்கிரகம்--காணாக்கோள் s. Rare phenomena in nature, unseen planets, real, or imaginary, &c., கரந்துறை கோள். காணாத்தலம்--காணாஸ்தலம் s. The privities, genitals, உபத்தம். காணாதேபோக--காணாமற்போக. inf. To be lost. காணாமற்றிருடினவன், appel. n. One who has taken a thing slyly, clandestinely. காணாமை, s. Invisibility. காணார், appel. n. Enemies--those who will not bow, பகைவர். செய்கைகாண, inf. To be newly cultivated, or cultivated anew, as land. உண்மையைக்காண, inf. To discover, perceive, or understand the truth, especially divine truth. ஈரங்காண, inf. To become moist --as a floor, land, &c. ஈரங்கண்டால்முளைக்கும். If it feel the moisture, the seed will sprout. ஈரங்கண்டாற்கால்வைக்கக்கூடாது. If the ground becomes wet, one cannot walk well. காணும், (the future of காண் in the third pers. neuter.) This form, in colloquial use, is equivalent to sir. 2. In poetry, it is often expletive. போங்காணும். Go, sir. தரியாதுகாணுந்தனம். Wealth is unstable. (நல்வழி.) அப்படியல்லகாணும். It is not so. காண், An expletive of the second person, ஓரிடைச்சொல். காண்டக்க, rel. part. Beautiful, graceful, as காணத்தக்க. காணல்--காண்டல் v. noun. Seeing, காணுகை. 2. Appearance, தோற்றம். 3. Reverence, வணங்கல். 4. The act of abtaining, பெறுதல். காண்பிக்க, inf. To cause to be, to convince, காட்ட. 2. To show, exhibit, adduce, display, represent, தெரிவிக்க. 3. To point, direct, சுட்டிக்காட்ட. காண்பித்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To chide, reprimand, blame, reprove. காண்பித்தல், v. noun. Showing, காட்டல்.

kiḷppu (p. 111) கிறேன், கிளப்பினேன், வேன், கி ளப்ப, v. a. To detach or raise up some heavy thing; to raise up one side of a thing; to disengage, to dislodge, to displace, எழுப்ப. 2. To dig up, to heave or lift up, பூமியின்கீழிருப்பதைக்கிளப்ப. 3. To excite, to induce fever, heat, &c., சுரமுதலிய வற்றைஎழுப்ப. 4. To rouse, animate, urge, ஏவிவிட. 5.
