Of this mode, four classes are given, இராகத்தகுதி, ச. viz.: I. இடம், tunes appropriate to different districts of country--as maritime, agricultural and mountainous, அவ்வத்திணை க்குரியவிராகம். Of these there are five, viz.: 1. குறிஞ்சி. 2. பஞ்சுரம். 3. சாதாரி. 4. மருதம். 5. செவ்வழி. II. செய்யுள், tunes applicable to different kinds of poetry--as to வெண் பா, சங்கராபரணம்; to அகவல், தோடி; to கலிப்பா, பந்துவராளி; to கலித்துறை, பைரவி. III. குணம், tunes suited to peculiar occasions--as நாட்டை, martial music; காம்போதி, சாவேரி, and தன்னியாசி, dancing tunes, or tunes for festive occasions; ஆகரி, கண்டாரவம், நீலாம்புரி, பியாகடம் and புன்னாகவராளி, for condolence. IV. காலம், tunes adapted to seasons--as to the spring, அசாவேரி, &c.; the morning, இந்தோளம், இராமகலி, &c.; noon, சாரங்கம், தே சாட்சரி, &c.; evening, கன்னடம், கலியாணி; night, ஆகரி. Others are applicable to all times. There are thirty-two tunes mentioned; viz.: 1. பைரவி. 2. தேவக்கிரியை. 3. மேகவிரஞ்சி. 4. குறிஞ்சி. 5. பூபாளம். 6. வேளா வளி. 7. மலகரி. 8. பௌளி. 9. சீராகம். 1. இந்தோளம். 11. பல்லதி. 12. சாவேரி. 13. பட மஞ்சரி. 14. தேசி. 15. இலலிதை. 16. தோடி. 17. வசந்தம். 18. இராமக்கிரியை. 19. வராளி. 2. கைசிகம். 21. மாளவி. 22. நாராயணி. 23. குண்டக்கிரியை. 24. கூர்ச்சரி. 25. பங்காளம். 26. தன்னியாசி. 27. காம்போதி. 28. கௌளி. 29. நாட்டை 3. தேசாட்சரி. 31. காந்தாரி. 32. சா ரங்கம். Of these, 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, are male tunes, and the three following each of them respectively are their wives. Of these, 1-5 are appropriated to Brahmans; 9-13 to kings; 17-21 to merchants; 25-29 to tradesmen and laborers. The deity of the 1st is ஈசன்; of the 2d திருமால்; of the 3d சரச்சுவதி; of the 4th இலக்குமி; of the 5th சூரியன்; of the 6th நாரதன்; of the 7th விநாயகன்; and of the 8th தும்புரு வன்--the wives being joined with each. இராகங்கலக்க--இராகங்கலைய, inf. To relax, slacken, relax a spring, &c., to loosen a rope, &c., to soften, mollify, cause another to yield, to work on one's feelings, to cause to relent, move the heart, appease, conciliate; to soften or moisten the throat, chest, &c.--as with liquids, fruits, conserves, இளகச்செய்ய. கையையிளக்கிவிட்டான். He gave liberally. வயிற்றையிளக்க, inf. To relax the bowels by cathartics. 2. To relieve the bowels by discharging their contents. 4)

īṉu (p. 58) --ஈன், கிறது, ஈன்றது, ஈனும், ஈன, v. a. To bear, bring forth. (usually limited to brutes) to cause birth or production, to beget, originate, பெற. 2. To yield, produce, put forth as fruits, &c., காய்க்க. அருளென்னுமன்பீன்குழவி. Kindness which is the offspring of love. (குறள்.) வானமேயீன்றது பூமியேதாங்கிற்று. The heavens produced, and the earth supported--spoken of one in a state of destitution. விரிதிரைப்பரவையீன்றவிளங்கிழை. The ornamented Lukshmi whom the wide billowy sea produced. (நைட.) 42)

ukḷu (p. 59) --உகள், கிறது, உகண்டது, உகளும், உகள, v. n. To leap, jump, bound, spring forward, gallop, leap over, frisk, gambol, குதிக்க. 2. To leap--as a frog, பாய. 3. To pass, கடக்க. (p.) வாளைப்பகட்டினமுகளுந்தண்பணை. The cool (flooded) fields where the varly fish sport. (நைடதம்.) 2)

uku (p. 59) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To spill, sprinkle, pour down, சிந்த. 2. To discharge, pour out, விட. 3. To shed, cause to fall, drop, உதிர்க்க. (p.) கன்றுகுணிலாக்கனியுகுத்தமாமாயன். The mighty Vishnu who beat off wood-apples (from the tree) with a calf, using it as a cudgel. கண்ணீருகுத்தான். He shed tears. 8)

uṭṉ (p. 59) s. A particle of time and place used in combination with other words and expressing co-existence, accompaniment--a form of the third case or the social ablative, மூன்றாம்வேற்றுமையின்சொல்லு ருபு. 2. Instantly, immediately, at once, அப்பொழுதே. உடனாளி, appel. noun. Companion, co-partner, கூட்டாளி. 2. (Rott.) A man of property. உடனிகழ்ச்சி--உடனிகழ்தல்--உ டனிகழ்வு, v. noun. Co-existing, happening simultaneously. 2. A term in grammar implying co-existence, concomitan cy. உடனிகழ்ச்சிப்பொருள். ஒடுவென்பதுடனிகழ்வைக்காட்டும். The particle ஒடு shows accompaniment. உடனிலைமயக்கம்--உடனிலைமெய் மயக்கம், s. [in orthography.] The combination of two consonants of the same kind--as அக்கம், அச்சம், opp. to வேற்றுநிலை மெய்மயக்கம். உடனுக்குடனே. The very instant, at the very juncture, immediately succeeding another event. பாம்புகடித்தவுடனுக்குடனேபிரயோகம்பண்ணிக் கொண்டான். He applied the remedy as soon as the snake bit him. உடனுற்றவன், s. A servant of the same class with another. உடனே, adv. Immediately. 2. prep. With, together with. ஒருசாமமானவுடனே. Immediately after the first watch. அவனதைச்சொன்னவுடனே. As soon as he had said it. என்னுடனேவா. Come along with me. உடனொத்தபங்காளி, s. An equal sharer. உடனொத்தவன், s. An equal, a fellow, an acquaintance, a compeer. உடன்கட்டையேற, inf. To ascend the funeral pile--as a Hindu widow with her deceased husband, அனுமரணம டைய; [ex கட்டை, log of wood.] உடன்கூட்டு, s. Co-partnership, fellowship, உடன்சேர்க்கை. உடன்கூட்டாளி, s. Co-partner, participator. உடன்கை. [prop. உடனே.] Immediately succeeding, just after, as soon as. வேலைசெய்துமுடிந்தவுடன்கையிலேகாசுகிடைக் கும். The wages will be paid as soon as the work is done. உடன்பங்காளி, s. A joint-sharer or participator, a co-partner, கூட்டுப்பங் காளி. 2. A co-heir, joint-heir, a brother's sons having a right to share in the family property, உடன்சுதந்தரவாளி. உடன்பங்கு, s.
