kttu (p. 92) கிறேன், கத்தினேன், வேன், கத்த, v. n. To cry with a harsh continued noise, to scream, squall--as an infant, கூவ. 2. To croak--as a frog; to caw--as a crow; to chuck--as a partridge; to scream, screach or make a harsh sound--as some birds, &c.; to chatter--as monkeys in fear, to yelp--as young dogs; to growl--as a bear; to bray--as an ass; to chuck--as young birds; to bleat--as calves; to make a reiterative sound--as some snakes, விலங் குபறவைமுதலியகத்த. 3. To chatter, to babble, to jabber, to talk in vain, பிதற்ற. 4. To roar, முழங்க. கத்திக்கத்தித்தொண்டையடைத்துப்போயிற்று. I am grown hoarse by talking so much. நாய்க்குப்பயந்துகுரங்குகத்துகிறது. The monkey chatters for fear of the dog. காக்கைகத்துகின்றது. The crow caws. அவன்கழுதைபோலேகத்துகிறான். He brays like an ass. அணில்கத்துகிறபடியால்சமீபத்திலேபாம்பிருக்கவே ண்டும். The screaching of the squirrels indicates the proximity of a snake. மாரித்தவளைபோலேயேன்கத்துகிறாய். Why do you croak like a frog in the rainy season? --said of one who talks too much, or importunes unceasingly. கத்து, v. noun. Crying, bawling, கூப்பிடுகை. 2. Chattering, unmeaning or idle talk, vain babbling, nonsense, mere declamation, பிதற்றுகை.--Note. Exalted devotees use this term concerning the opinions, &c., of other sects or of those of the same sects, but inferior to themselves. சமயக்கத்து, s. The arguments or wrangling of religious disputants. 2. Religious tenets exclusive of the sublimer or experimental parts. In both meanings the usage is sarcastic, spoken by opponents or by those who have arrived at an exalted degree. பொய்ந்நூலாம்அச்சமயக்கத்தினாராதரிக்கத்தெய்வ ங்கள்வைச்சமயக்கத்தினார்வாழ்வு. (Tiruvancadum) is the residence of Vishnu who appointed various gods to please wrangling fanatics. (திருவேங்.) வீண்கத்து, s. Vain, insignificant words, prating. 22) *

kuñcu (p. 116) s. The young of birds, fowls, fishes, oysters, conchs, rats, lizards, frogs, squirrels; also figuratively, young children, பல்லி--ஓந்தி--பறவை முதலியவற்றின்குஞ்சு. 2. Virile membrum, குஞ்சி (from Sans. Kuncha, being little.) குஞ்சுக்குவைக்க, inf. [prov.] To set eggs for hatching. குஞ்சுபொரிக்க, inf. To hatch, to produce young from eggs. குஞ்சுறை, s. Bird's nest, பறவைக்கூடு; [ex உறை, abode.] குஞ்சுக்கூட்டம், s. The brood of a hen. பூங்குஞ்சு, s. A very young bird, இளங் குஞ்சு. குஞ்சுச்சிப்பி, s. kurngku (p. 124) s. [adjectively குரக்கு, in poetry.] A monkey, வானரம். 2. A climbing plant, முசுமுசுக்கை. 3. An animal in general--as குரங்கம், குராகம். குரங்கின்கைப்பூமாலை. A flower-garland in the hands of a monkey; i. e. a thing of value with one who knows not its use. குரங்குக்குந்தன்குட்டிபொன்குட்டி. Even to a monkey her young is as gold; i. e. one thinks highly of his own. குரங்குதன்குட்டியின்கையைக்கொண்டுபதம்பார்க்கி றதுபோலப்பார்க்கிறான். He tests it by another, as a monkey does a new object by the hand of her young. குரங்குமனம், s. A monkey-mind, retaining its grasp, notions, &c., without inquiry, or discrimination. குரக்குமுகம்--குரங்குமுகம்--குரங்கு மூஞ்சி, s. A monkey face. குரக்குவலி--கொறுக்குவலி, s. A kind of disease with which monkeys are commonly said to be affected. குரங்காட்டம், s. Apishness; apish tricks, antics, &c. 2. v. noun. Harassing, annoying, treating one as a mere monkey. குரங்காட்டமாட--குரங்காட்டங்கொள் ள--குரங்காட்டம்பண்ண, inf. To annoy, to treat one as a monkey. குரங்குகடியன், s. [prov.] A cocoanut, injured at the top, as if by a monkey, squirrel, &c., பழுதுற்றதேங்காய். குரங்குச்சம்பந்தம், s. The mode of a monkey's hold, grasp, &c., to which the hold of the soul on God is sometimes compared.--Note. The hold of a God on a soul is compared to that of a cat on its young. குரங்குச்சேட்டை--குரங்குச்சேஷ்டை, s. Mean, monkeyish tricks--as scratching and eyeing carefully; apish imitation. குரங்குச்சேட்டைபண்ண, inf. To play apish tricks; to act meanly; to mimic, in a low manner. குரங்குப்பிடி, s. A firm grasp--as that of a monkey. 2. Dogmatism in opinion, பிடிவாதம். 3. Urgency, importunity. குரங்குவலி, s. Numbness and pain in the limbs with shivering; a spasmodic affection, incident to puerperal women, ஓர்நோய். 26)

kuẕvu (p. 128) adj. Young, youthful, juvenile, இளம், --Note. The வு is sometimes dropped in combination. குழக்கன்று, s. A young calf, இளங் கன்று. குழமகன், s. A male infant, குழந்தை. 2. tiṉai (p. 241) s. Millet, a kind of grain, ஓர்தானி யம், Panicum italicum, L. 2. (fig.) Smallness, a trifle, சிறுமை.--There are different kinds of millet, வெள்ளைத்தினை, white; அச்சித் தினை, another small kind (probably from Acheen); காட்டுத்தினை, wild; செந்தினை, red; கருந்தினை, dark; அணில்வாற்றினை, a kind of white millet with ears supposed to resemble the tall of the squirrel. தினைவிதைத்தவர்தினையறுப்பார்வினைவிதைத்தவர்வினை யறுப்பார். They that sow millet shall reap millet; they that do evil, will get evil. தினைக்கஞ்சி, s. Millet gruel, for sick persons. தினைக்குருவி, s. A small kind of bird, ஓர்சிறுகுருவி. தினைச்சாமை, s. [prov.] The தினை grain, as a species of சாமை. தினைத்தாள், s. Millet stalks or straw. தினைப்புனம்--தினைப்புலம், s. A millet field. தினைமா, s. Millet-flour. தினையரிசி, s. Husked millet. தினையளவு, s.
