irattiṉam (p. 49) s. A jewel, a gem, precious stone, மாமணி. Wils. p. 695. RATNA. The nine gems are, 1. கோமேதகம் gomada. 2. நீலம், sapphire. 3. பவளம், coral. 4. புட்பராகம், topaz. 5. மரகதம், emerald. 6. மாணிக்கம், ruby. 7. முத்து, pearl. 8. வைடூ ரியம், lapis-lazuli. 9. வைரம், diamond. இரத்தினக்கம்பளம்--இரத்தினக்கம் பளி, s. A kind of carpet of various colors, probably studded with gems in ancient times, சித்திரக்கம்பளம். இரத்தினச்சுருக்கம், s. A book of comparisons by புகழேந்தி, உறுப்புவமைநூல். 2. A medical boo of Agastiar, ஓர்வாகடம். இரத்தினபரிட்சை, s. Acquaintance with gems, the art or practice of examining precious stones, இரத்தினசோத னை--one of the sixty-four கலைஞானம். இரத்தினப்பல்லக்கு, s. A palankeen ornamented with precious stones. இரத்தினமயம், s. That which is like, made of or adorned with gems, the nature or appearance of precious stones. Wils. p. 695. RATNAMAYA. இரத்தினமாலை, s. kaṉakam (p. 102) s. Gold, பொன். Wils. p. 186, KANAKA.. (p.) கனகக்கொடியோன், s. A name of a king, having a golden banner, See கன்னன். (சது.) கனகசபை, s. The golden hall, one of the sacred apartments of Chithambram temple, பொன்னம்பலம். கனகதண்டிகை--கனகபல்லக்கு, s. A palankeen studded with gold, பொற் சிவிகை. கனகதண்டிகைவேந்தர்--கனகபல் லக்குத்துரை, s. A gentleman or king worthy to ride in a golden palankeen--used by Pariars in flattery. கனகபரிட்சை, s. Acquaintance with precious metals--one of the sixtyfour கலைஞானம். கனகமாரிபொழிய, inf. To bestow liberally, lit. to rain gold. கனகமாரிபொழிந்ததுபோலே. As bountiful as if it rained gold. கனகன், s. An Asoor, இரணியன். கனகாசலம், s. Mount Meru, மேரு மலை. Wils. p. 186. KANAKACHALA.. கனகாசனம், s. A golden seat, throne, &c., பொன்னாசனம். கனகாபிஷேகம், s. Pouring out gold on the head of an idol or otherwise, in imitation of anointing, சொர்னாபிஷேகம். இப்படிச்செய்தாற்கனகாபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவாரா. If I did so, would he shower gold on me? கனகாமிர்தம், s. kol (p. 146) part. A poetic expletive--as in காணுங்கொல், he will see, அசைச்சொல். 2. A particle implying doubt; frequently interrogative or connected with interrogative forms--as in காணார்கொல், will they not see--ஐயக்கிளவி. 3. An imitative sound--as in கொல்லெனச்சிரித்தார்கள், they broke out into laughter, ஒலிக்குறிப்பு. 4. s. Suffering, distress, affliction, வருத்தம். (சது.) 5. [With suitable prefixes,] Gold or iron. 6. The blacksmith's caste; a blacksmith, கொல்லன். 7. A mason's trowel, கொல்லற்று. 8. (loc.) Brass or iron, nailed across a door, or gate, for strength, குறுக்குத்தாழ். கொல்லர், s. [fem. sing. கொல்லிச்சி.] Blacksmiths, கருமார். 2. Smiths in general--as in பொற்கொல்லர். 3. (Hind.) Treasure keepers, பொக்கசங்காப்போர். கொல்லதெருவிலேயாஊசிமாறுகிறது. Can one barter needles in a blacksmith's street? i. e. you cannot impose on the experienced. கொல்லச்சேவகர், s. As கொல்லர். 3. (R.) செங்கொல், s. Gold, (lit.) yellow metal. கருங்கொல், s. Iron, (lit.) dark metal. கொல்லுலை, s. A blacksmith's forge. கொல்லன்கம்மாலை, s. [prov.] A blacksmith's shop, smithery. கொல்லன்கிட்டம், s. See கிட்டம். கொல்லுத்தடியாணி, s. [loc.] A large nail for studding doors or gates, to add to their strength, கதவினோருறுப்பாணி. 110)
