tṟ (p. 230) . A particle for தன்; the ன் is changed as தற். Sa. தற்காக்க, inf. To preserve, to protect, chiefly as the deity or other superior. இரட்சிக்க. 2. To take care of one's self, to be cautious of dangers, to maintain fidelity to a husband, தன்னைக்காக்க. தற்காவல், s. Self-protection, selfcaution. தற்கிழமை, s. [in gram.] The thing possessed, or closely connected with the possession--oppos. to பிறிதின்கிழமை See கிழமை. தற்குணம், s. Peculiar nature or quality. தற்குறி--தற்குறிப்பு, s. The mark of one unable to write, to serve as his signature. (c.) தற்குறிபோட, inf. To make such a mark. தற்குறிப்பேற்றம், s. One of the thirtyfive rhetorical figures, a fanciful kind of metaphor--as the trees, flourishing after a rain, extend, as it were, their arms to return fruits to the clouds. ஓரலங்காரம். தற்குறைவு, s. Deficiency in a stock or quantity without any apparent cause. தற்கொலை, s. Suicide. (c.) தற்சாட்சி, s. Self-evidence, மனச்சாட் சி. 2. The universal soul. or deity inspiriing all creatures, பரமாத்துமா. தற்சிவம், s. Absolute deity, the selfexistent, ஈச்சுரன். தற்சினேகம், s. Self-love, தன்னைநேசிக் கும்நேசம். தற்சொரூபங்காட்ட, inf. To exhibit himself in his true nature as the deity; i. e. not in human or other form. 2. To display one's power, capacity, true characteristics, சுயதன்மைகாட்ட. தற்சொரூபம், s. One's own peculiar nature or form of existence, சுயரூபம்; used chiefly of the deity. தற்சுட்டு, s. self-reference, தன்னைச் சுட்டுகை. தற்சுந்தரம், s. Self-possession, inherent attribute as peculiar to the deity. தற்சுதந்தரஅறிவு, s. Intuitive knowledge. தற்செயல், s. Providential, without any apparent cause, contingent, தெய்வச் செயல். 2. An accident. (c.) தற்செய்ய, v. n. inf. [prov.] To produce its own natural effects, to prosper by providence, இயல. 2. To be advantageous, favorable, profitable, to issue successfully, பலிக்க. வியாபாரம்அவனுக்குத்தற்செய்யவில்லை. Trade does not prosper with him. தற்செல்வம், s. Strength, power, force, வலி. (சது.) 2. One's own property. தற்பாடி, appel. n. A lark, வானம் பாடி. (R.) தற்புகழ்ச்சி, s. Self-praise, self-applause, self-complacency. தற்புணர்ச்சி, v. noun. Self-pollution, onanism, சுயபுணர்ச்சி. தற்பொழிவு, v. noun. Self-interest. தற்போதம், s. Self-knowledge, knowledge of the soul and deity, தன்னையுங் கடவுளையும் அறியுமறிவு. 2. Intuitive knowledge, inherent and eternal knowledge as possessed by the deity. தன்னறிவு.
