olku (p. 83) கிறது, ஒல்கினது, ம், ஒல்க, v. n. To become reduced, thin, slender, emaciated, to grow small, diminish, தளர. 2. To be subject to, to submit, be repressed, be contained, கீழ்ப்படிய. 3. To grow weak, faint, reduced or broken in mind, to pine, to be dejected, disheartened, குழைய. 4. To shrink from, be deficient, to fail in the performance of duties, குறைய. 5. To coil up, shrivel, contract as an elastic body, சுருங்க. 6. To waver, shake, &c., from weakness, or from being over-burdened, to be flexible, துவள. (p.) ஒல்காதார்வாய்விட்டுலம்புப. Those of unrestrained passions chatter and boast. (நீதி நெறி.) ஒல்குதேவியைத்தெளித்தொருப்படுத்தி. A spell, enchantment, magical power or influence exerted on a person or thing, divination, தடைக்கட் டு. 7. A building, erection, structure, organization, frame of the animal system, யாக்கை. 8. [prov.] A wedding, marriage ceremony, &c., festival--from the bridegroom's tying the marriage symbol on the bride's neck. கட்டுக்கழுத்தி, s. A married woman, she who wears the தாலி, மங்கலமங் கை. கட்டுக்காரன், s. [prov.] (fem. கட் டுக்காரி.) A diviner, a conjurer, குறிசொல் வோன். கட்டுக்காவல், s. A very strict guard, close custody--applied to the protection of girls arrived at the age of puberty, &c., great care, great strictness, கட்டானகாவல். கட்டுங்காவலுமாயிருக்க, inf. To be in close confinement. கட்டுக்கிடை--கட்டுக்கிடையன், s. Cloth or other goods lying long unsold, நாட்பட்டசரக்கு. கட்டுக்குத்தகை, s. A contract or lease of land for many years together, a contract for a whole dhoney without reference to the number of trips, the weight of the cargo, &c. கட்டுக்கூட்டு, s. [prov.] A fabrication, a forgery, a fiction, a fable, கட் டுக்கதை. 2. An intertexture of letters, a cipher, மாற்றியெழுதப்பட்டது. கட்டுக்கேட்க, inf. To consult a diviner. கட்டுக்கொடி, s. A tether, a rope stretched along the ground to which cattle, goats, &c., are tied by the leg in a row at night, ஆடுமாடுகட்டுங்கயிறு. கட்டுக்கொதித்தல், v. noun. Making a large breach--as a river in its banks, the sea in the shore --as in the breaking up at the universal deluge. கட்டுண்ணல், v. noun. Being bound, &c., கட்டப்படுதல். கட்டுண்ணி, s. One who has been frequently bound. கட்டுத்தளர, inf. To grow slack --as a tie; to be loose--as a bale, &c. கட்டுத்தறி, s. A post to which an elephant may be tied, யானைமுதலியன கட்டுங்கம்பம். கட்டுத்திரவியம், s. [prov.] Treasure bound up in one's cloth, &c., பொற்கிழி. கட்டுத்திரள, inf. [prop. கட்டிதிர ள.] To form or swell--as a tumor. கட்டுத்தையல், s. A kind of firm sewing. கட்டுத்தோணி--கட்டுப்படகு, s. A dhoney or vessel of which the seams are sewed together. கட்டுப்பட, inf. To yield to, to submit, be influenced by, be brought under the power of, be overcome by, கட் டுக்குள்ளடங்க. 2. To be bound by spells or otherwise restrained, மந்திரமுதலியவற் றாற்கட்டுப்பட. 3. To be constipated--as the system; to be obstructed--as waters, as humors in the system, blood, urine, menstruation, &c., தடைப்பட. ஒருமயிரினாலேகட்டுப்படுவான். He may be bound by a single hair; i. e. he will be easily persuaded or prevailed upon. கட்டுப்படுத்த, inf. To restrain, confine, subdue, subordinate, control, restrict, subject, கட்டுக்குளடக்க. கட்டுப்பண்ண, inf. To stop, prevent. கட்டுப்பாடு, s. [vul.] Wholly, entirely--used with words implying rejection, destruction, &c., or with negatives. கட்டோடேயழிந்துபோயிற்று. It is utterly ruined. என்னிடத்திலேகட்டோடேயில்லை. kḷi (p. 100) s. Joy, gladness, delight, exhilaration, exultation, mirth, jollity, hilarity, மகிழ்ச்சி. 2. Riot, revelling கள்முதலிய அருந்திக்களிக்கை. 3. [prov.] A medicinal oil, in which the root of சிற்ற முட்டி forms a principal ingredient. சிற்றம்மான்பச்சரிசி, s. See அம்மான் பச்சரிசி. சிற்றரத்தை, s. A medicinal bark the root of which forms a drug. See அரத்தை. சிற்றரிவாள், s. [com. சித்தறுவாள்.] A small sickle. சிற்றல்லி, s. A flower-creeper. See அல்லி. சிற்றவரை, s. A kind of beans. See அவரை. சிற்றறிவு--சிற்றுணர்வு, s. Little knowledge; feeble, weak intellect. 2. Knowledge of secular things, as distinguished from spiritual knowledge or பேரறிவு enjoyed by the deity and by souls who have made great attainments in abstract devotion. சிற்றறிவோர்--சிற்றுணர்வோர், s. Persons of little knowledge, learning, minds, &c. See அறிவு. சிற்றறுகு, s. A grass, Agrostis. See அறுகு. சிற்றாடை, s. [com. சித்தாடை.] A cloth or garment for a little girl. See ஆடை. சிற்றாதாயம், s. The காற்கொலுசு, ankle-rings. 6. A foot trinket, காற்சிலம்பு. 7. Men's locks of hair, ஆண்மயிர். 8. [prov.] A partition, division, in rice fields. வயலின்பிரிவு. (c.) 9. The metrical connection of the last syllable of any foot with the first of the succeeding, one of the six செய்யுளுறுப்பு, வரு ஞ்சீரின் முதலசை யொன்றியுமொன்றாமலுங்கூடிநிற்பது. --Note. The poetic தளை are of seven kinds embracing four classes. I. ஆசிரி யத்தளை. connexion of ஆசிரியம் verse of two species. 1. நேரொன்றாசிரீயத்தளை, combination of simple syllables in the ஆசிரியம் connexion, or of one simple ஆசிரியம் foot, with another. 2. நிரையொன்றாசிரியத்தளை, combination of compound syllables, or the connexion of one compound ஆசிரியம் foot, with another. II. வெண்டளை, connexion of வெண் பா verse, also of two species. 1. வெண்சீர் வெண்டளை, combination of genuine வெண்சீர் foot, or of one வெண்சீர் foot with another foot, biginning with a simple syllable 2. இயற்சீர்வெண்டளை, combination of simple, or ஆசிரியம் feet, or connexion of an ஆசிரியம் foot ending with a compound syllable with another foot beginning with a simple syllable, or vice versa. III. கலித்தளை, connexion of the கலிப்பா verse, being single, viz.; that of வெண்சீர் foot ending with a syllable with another foot beginning with a compound syllable. IV. வஞ்சித்தளை, connexion of வஞ்சி verse of two species. 1. ஒன்றியவஞ்சித்தளை, combination of compound syllables, or of one வஞ்சி foot with another foot beginning with a compound syllable. 2. ஒன்றாதவஞ்சித்தளை, combination of a compound with a simple syllable, or of one வஞ்சி foot with another beginning with a simple syllable. For syllables and feet and their different species, see அசை and சீர். வளைபட்டகைமாதொடு மக்களெனுந் தளைபட்டழியத் தகுமோதகுமோ. Should I perish by being bound with my bracelet-adorned wife and children. தளைகழற்றிவிட, inf. To unloose or take off fetters. தளைத்தட்ட, inf. To fail or be defective, as a connection in verse, தளைதவற. தளைநார், s. [prov.] A foot brace for a tree-climber. தளைபட--தளைப்பட, inf. To be imprisoned, to be taken captive, சிறைப்பட. 2. To be bound, confined, restrained, கட்டுப்பட. தளைப்பூட்ட--தளைபோட, inf. To fetter, to shackle. தளைப்பொருத்தம், s. Harmonious combination of the தளை, in verse, தளையினிணக்கம். தளையவிழ, inf. To blossom as a flower, பூமலர. 2. To be unbound, to be unrestrained, கட்டவிழ. தளைவைக்க, inf. [prov.] To invest one with the office of உடையார். தளைவார், s. துருதுரு
turuturu (p. 248) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To be fidgety, restless, to make idle motions or gestures, குடுகுடுக்க. 2. To quiver as the lips or tongue through desire to speak, or the hand itching to strike, துடிதுடிக்க. 3. To be in too great haste, ஆத்திரப்பட. (c.) [ex Sa. Dru, to move, to hurt.] துருதுருத்தகை, s. An itching hand, ready for mischief. துருதுருத்தபிள்ளை, s. A fidgety child. துருதுருத்தவாய், s. Pertness, impertinence, an unrestrained tongue. துருதுருபாவை, s. [prov.] A restless, fidgety girl.
