ācciramam (p. 37) s. Hermitage, the residence of an ascetic, முனிவரிருப்பிடம். 2. Religious condition as prescribed especially for the Brahmans, including four degrees or orders, நிலை; viz.: 1. பிரமசாரி யாச்சிரமம், the state or condition of a bachelor, who, from the time of his investment with the sacred cord, is required to tend the sacred fires and to follow his studies under or in the presence of his preceptor. 2. கிரகஸ்தாச்சிரமம், the state of a house-holder, who, from his marriage, must strictly observe his religious duties, maintain the sacred fires, and liberally practise hospitality for the support of the other three orders. 3. வானப்பிரஸ்தாச் சிரமம், the state of an anchorite or recluse, who, with or without his wife, relinquishes domestic life, retires to the desert feeding on leaves, roots and fruits, or on the hospitality of the second order, and continues to perform his daily rites. 4. சன்னியாசியாச்சிரமம், the state of a religious mendicant who performs no rite whatever and lives only on alms, sometimes appearing in a state of nudity. To put a cloth, an ornament, or flowers on an idol, a holy personage, &c., ஆடைமுதலிய அ ணிய. 3. To slap, strike, tap, beat, அடிக்க. 4. To shut, put to, to close--as a door, &c., கதவுமுதலியமூட. 5. (impr. for சார்த்து.) To place against, ஒன்றின்மேற்சார்த்த. (c.) சாத்தாதவர், s. (pl.) Those who do not wear the sacred thread, or the tuft of hair. civ (p. 187) க்கிறது, ந்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. (etymological'y செவ.) To redden, blush, to be red, to be streaked or tinged with red, செவக்க. 2. To become angry, to redden, as the eyes by anger, உக்கிரங் கொள்ள.--Note. Where redness comes on of itself, சிவத்தது is used in the past tense; where art is used, or the thing is red by birth, or origin, சிவந்தது is common; but in the latter it is sometimes optional; சிவந்தது may sometimes indicate the deeper color.--Note. 2. The participle in the latter form (as also in கறுத்தல்.) requires reduplication before hard letters. சிவத்தமுகம், s. A red face by nature. சிவத்தவுடம்பு, s. A copper colored person. civaṉ (p. 188) s. Siva, the third of the Indian Triad, in the character of destroyer, or reducer of things to their primitive atoms. By his votaries he is considered the supreme god. the other deities being subject to him, சங்கரன். சிவகணம், s. The attendant demi-gods of Siva, commonly in companies, சிவன் சேனை. சிவசமயம், s. Blasphemy or contempt of Siva. சிவபஜனை, s. Praising Siva by lyrics. சிவபத்தர்--சிவபத்திக்காரர்--சிவமதஸ்தர், s. Worshippers or devotees of Siva as distinguished from விட்டுணுபத்தர். சிவபத்தி, s. The religion of Siva. 2. The profession of the Siva religion. 3. Adherence, attachment, or devotedness to Siva. சிவபுண்ணியம், s. Deeds of merit, performances in reference to Siva--as சிவதர்மம். சிவபூசை, s. The worship of Siva as practised in the temple or by the கிரியை க்காரன்; the Siva-pujah, consisting of the offering of flowers, milk, boiled rice, fruits, &c., waving incense and light-reciting mantras and praises, prostrating, before the idol, &c., 2. Mental worship of Siva, in which there is an idol ceremony corresponding to what is mentioned above. சிவபூசைவேளையிலே கரடியைவிட்டாட்டுகிறதா.
