nāyakam (p. 274) s. Headship, superiority, supremacy, pre-eminence, தலைமை. (சது.) 2. Rule, government, domination, ஆளுகை. 3. (fig.) The chief gem in a neck-lace, மாலையின்பிரதானமணி. --Note. The four kinds of government to be deprecated are: 1. ஸ்திரீநாயகம், female government, of a state, or family; 2. வாலநாயகம்--சிசுநாயகம், juvenile government; 3. வெகுநாயகம், government in the hands of many; 4. அநாயகம், anarchy--Note. Some medicinal plants have this affix as கிரந்திநாயகம், சன்னிநாயகம், which see. நாயகசுரம், s. [for நாகசுரம்.] A kind of clarion. நாயகத்தி--நாயகச்சி, s. A lady, mistress, goddess, தலைவி. (Rare.) நாயகப்பானை, s. The chief pot for boiling rice at a temple; for religious mendicants, &c., முதலூலைக்கட்டிப்பொங்கலிடும் பானை. நாயகமணி, s. [also நடுநாயகம்.] The large bead in a devotee's necklace. 2. The central gem in a breast plate. நாயகம்பண்ண, inf. To excercise lordship, supremacy, &c., பெரியதனம்பண்ண. நாயகன், s. [honor. நாயகர், fem. நாயகி.] A lord, master, guide, chief, manager, conductor, leader, principal, அரசன். 2. The Supreme Being, எப்பொருட்குமிறைவன். 3. Siva, சிவன். (சது.) 4. A husband, கண வன்.
