īrl (p. 58) s. The lungs, liver, spleen, and other viscera, ஈருள். ஈரல்கருக, inf. To be smitten with anguish, fear, shame, &c. ஈரல்கருகிப்போயிற்று. My liver is dried up--an expression which indicates intense anguish. ஈரல்பதற, inf. To be terrified, agitated. ஈரற்குலை, s. The liver and the parts connected with it, ஈரற்கொத்து; [ex குலை, cluster, collection.] ஈரற்குலைபதைக்க, inf. To be cut to the heart, be deeply grieved. ஈரற்குழி, s. The pit of the stomach, ஈரலுறுதானம். ஈரற்பித்து--பித்தீரல், s. The gall bladder and its contents, ஈரற்பிச்சு. நீரீரல், s. The kidneys. கல்லீரல், s. Liver. நுரையீரல்--வெள்ளீரல், s. kuṉmam (p. 132) s. A disease, a chronic enlargement of the spleen; also, any glandular enlargement in the abdomen--as of the mesenteric gland, &c., causing indigestion, colic and great emaciation. There are eight kinds, viz: எரிகுன்மம், சத்திகுன்மம், சன்னிகுன் மம், சிலேட்டுமகுன்மம், குலைக்குன்மம், பித்தகுன்மம், வலிகுன்மம், வாதகுன்மம், which see severally. 2. A division of an army. (See குலுமம்.) 3. Bushes; thickets, தூறு. Wils. p. 294. GULMA. குன்மக்கட்டி, s. A formation or enlargement in the abdomen. அவனுக்குக்குன்மங்கண்டிருக்கிறது. He has the குன்மம் disease. குன்மசூலை, s. Nervous paralysis--also obstruction of the viscera. (Rott.) குன்மப்புரட்டு, s. [prov.] Dyspepsia; an acute pain, attending the குன்மம் disease from indigestion, causing vomiting, distortions, &c. குன்மவலி, s. Internal pain or gripe consequent on the குன்மம் disease. குன்மவாயு, s. Flatulency connected with the குன்மம் disease. 68)

kulai (p. 127) s. A cluster; a bunch of fruit, flowers, keys, &c., கொத்து. 2. Notches or contrivances in a bow, to receive the string, விற்குதை. 3. The lower end of an arrow, அம்பின்குதை. 4. An artificial bank of a paddy field, a dam, a causeway, செய் கரை. 5. The viscera--as the liver, &c., ஈரற்குலைமுதலியன. என்குலைபதைக்கின்றது. My heart goes pita-part; my heart palpitates. ஒருகுலைக்காய், s. A person of the same consanguinity; lit. a fruit of the same cluster. குலைகுலையாய், adv. In bunches. முந்திரிகைப்பழங் குலைகுலையாய்த் தூங்குகின்றது. The grapes hang in thick clusters. குலையோடே, adv. All at once, the whole without exception. குலைதள்ள--குலைபோட, inf. To form --as clusters, bunches, &c., of fruits or flowers. குலைதறி, v. noun. Cutting off a bunch of fruit at once. குலைநெறியற்றேங்காய், s. [prov.] Cocoanuts, pressed and deformed in the bunch. குலைநெருக்கம், v. noun. Being crowded --as a bunch or bunches of fruits, &c. குலைவிலை, s. [prov.] The sale of palmyra fruits while on the tree. திராட்சக்குலை, s. A bunch of grapes. குலைமுட்டி--குலையெரிவு, s. Heartburning. குலையாத்திரம், s. An unsatiable appetite; a carving for food. குலைநோய்--குலைவலி, s. Heart-burn, cardialgia. குலைபடுவன், s. [prov.] Tumors, ulcers, &c., in the liver, lungs, &c. நெஞ்சாங்குலை, s. [local.] The breast; thorax. 2. The pit of the stomach. குலைக்கல், s. Bezoar, கோரோசனம். 50)

neñcu (p. 279) s. The mind, the heart; [in popular use.] Consciousness, thought, reason, judgment and will, மனம். 2. Conscience, மனச்சாட்சி. 3. Breast, bosom, chest, மார்பு. 4. Throat, தொண்டை. 5. (fig.) Boldness, courage, daring heroism, தைரியம். 6. Audacity, venturousness, துணிவு. (c.) மறவாதேநெஞ்சே. Forget not O my soul! எனக்குநெஞ்சைக்கரிக்கிறது. I feel a nausea in the throat. இத்தனைநெஞ்சுனக்கிருக்கிறதோ. Are you so bold? நீசெய்ததுஎன்னெஞ்சிலிருக்கிறது. What you have done is remembered. நெஞ்சிலேமிதிக்கிறான். He treats me with great disrespect. நெஞ்சைத்தட்டிப்பார். Ask your own breast. நெஞ்சையொழித்தொருவஞ்சகமில்லை. There is no fraud in which the heart is not concerned. (Avv.) உன்னெஞ்சிற்சிறாயெடுத்துப்போடுவேன். I will reduce your pride. உன்நெஞ்சுகல்நெஞ்சு. Your breast is a stony breast. நெஞ்சடைத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To be choked, or stifled in the throat. நெஞ்சடைப்பு--நெஞ்சடைவாதம், s. Obstruction in the chest, ஓர்நோய். நெஞ்சழிதல், v. noun. Failing or being overwhelmed, as the heart with sorrow, or fear. 2. Loss of consciousness, through sorrow, fear, drunkenness, &c. 3. Being overcome with lust; losing self-control. நெஞ்சறிய, inf. [as an adverb.] Consciously. நெஞ்சறியப்பொய்சொல்லலாமோ. Can you knowingly lie? நெஞ்சறிவிளக்கம், s. A treatise. நெஞ்சன், s. [in combin.] A hard-hearted person. See கன்னெஞ்சகன், வன்னெஞ்சகன். 2. [prov.] A bold, daring person, துணி வுடையோன். 3. A person of self-importance, இடும்பன். நெஞ்சாங்கட்டை, s. The breast-bone, as நெஞ்செலும்பு. 2. A log placed across the breast of a corpse to prevent its rising while burning, பிணத்தின்நெஞ்சுக்கட் டை. 3. (fig.) A plot to destroy one, தூராலோசனை. இதுவுனக்குநெஞ்சாங்கட்டைக்கோ. Is this for your breast log? a curse imprecating death. நெஞ்சாங்குலை--நெஞ்சாங்கொழுந்து, s. The viscera. 2. See குலை. நெஞ்சாங்குழி--நெஞ்சுக்குழி, s. The pit of the throat. நெஞ்சிடித்தல், v. noun. Throbbing of the heart, from fear, &c. நெஞ்சிலேகல்--நெஞ்சிற்கல், s. (fig.) A heavy calamity, பெருந்துக்கம். நெஞ்சிலேகல்லுப்போட்டீர். You have put a stone in my breast, used in lamentation for the dead. நெஞ்சிலேதெண்டல், v. noun. [prov.] Affecting the breast--as wind, spasm, or cramp, நெஞ்சிற்றடுக்க. நெஞ்சிளைக்க, inf. To become fearful, timid, cowardly. நெஞ்சிற்பாரம், s. (fig.) Burden or weight of responsibility oppressing the heart. 2. Sorrow of heart. நெஞ்சுகரிப்பு--நெஞ்சுக்கரிப்பு, v. noun. A nausea in the throat. நெஞ்சுகாய, inf. To become dry, gnawing, &c., as the breast in disease, causing thirst, &c. 2. [prov.] To faint as the heart through sorrow, fear, &c. நெஞ்சுக்கட்டு-நெஞ்சுக்கோழை, s. Pectoral disease from phlegm, as asthma. நெஞ்சுக்குத்து--நெஞ்சுவலி, s. Pain in the chest. நெஞ்சுதட்ட, inf. To tap the breast in defiance, as a challenge. 2. To tap the breast with a boast of doing an exploit. நெஞ்சுதுடித்தல், v. noun. Throbbing of the heart from fear. 2. Sympathizing with one in affliction, பரிதாபப்படல். நெஞ்சுத்தடிமல், s. Catarrh seated in the breast, cold and cough. நெஞ்சுத்துணிகரம்--நெஞ்சுத்துணிவு, s. Boldness of heart, heroism, intrepidity. நெஞ்சுநெஞ்சென்றுகுத்துதல், v. noun. Striking the breast with the tips of the fingers, in bewailing the dead, &c. See மார்படித்தல். நெஞ்சுநோ, s. Pain in the breast. 2. (fig.) Grief of heart. நெஞ்சுபக்கிடுதல், v. noun. Being struck with sudden fear or sorrow. நெஞ்சுபதறுதல், v. noun. Fluttering of the heart at the sight of a distressed object, of unjust suffering in another, or of danger of injustice to one's self. நெஞ்சுபுண்ணாக--நெஞ்சம்புண்ணாக, inf. To be grieved, wounded at heart. நெஞ்சுப்பள்ளம், s. [prov.] Pit of the stomach. நெஞ்சுரம், s. Bold-heartedness. நெஞ்சுரப்பானவன், appel. n. A hardhearted man. See உரம். நெஞ்சுவறட்சி, s. Dryness of the chest when cough causes no expectoration. நெஞ்சுவிடுதூது, s. A poem in which the heart is personified as a messenger to a lover, ஓர்பிரபந்தம். 2. One of the fourteen treatises of the Agama philosophy. See சைவசித்தாந்தம், under சித்தாந் தம். நெஞ்சுறைப்பு, s. Boldness of heart, intrepidity. நெஞ்செரிதல், v. noun. Envying, பொ றாமைப்படுதல். நெஞ்செரிப்பு, v. noun. Nausea from eating to excess, or from eating acids, sweets, &c. 2. Pain in the stomach, heart-burn. 3. (fig.) Envy, பொறாமை. நெஞ்செலும்பு, s. The sternum. See எலும்பு. நெஞ்சைக்கல்லாக்க, inf. To harden one's own or another's heart. நெஞ்சைக்குமட்டல், v. noun. Nausea. See குமட்டு. நெஞ்சைப்பிடிக்க, inf. Eight kinds of மாந்தம். 1. செரியாமாந்தம், indigestion; 2. போர்மாந் தம், visceral obstructions; 3. மலடிமாந்தம், loathing of milk with fever; 4. பெருமாந் தம், flux and cold; 5. வாதமாந்தம், flatulency; 6. சுழிமாந்தம், colic, with rolling of the eyes; 7. வலிமாந்தம், convulsions; 8. கணமாந்தம், fever and disordered bowels. மாந்தசன்னி, s.
