iṉṉātu (p. 57) s. Evil, unpleasantness, தீது; [ex இன்.] (p.) ஈ. The fourth vowel of the Tamil alphabet, நான்காமுயிர். 2. A fly in general, ஈயென்னம்பறவை. 3. A bee, தேனீ. 4. A beetle, வண்டு. 5. A poetic expletive, முன் னிலையசைச்சொல்--as சென்றீபெரும, Proceed great man. This example given in the native grammars appears to be the only one found. ஈச்சோப்பி--ஈயோட்டி, s. A whisk for flies, a fly-flapper. ஈப்பி, s. Nits, eggs or scurf in the hair, ஈர். ஈப்பிவைக்க, inf. To be formed as nits or scurf in the hair. ஈப்புலி, s. An insect, a species of spider, ஈயைக்கொல்லும்பூச்சி. ஈயெச்சத்தோல், s. [prov.] The skin of an animal, or of the palmyra fruit when worm-eaten, or fly-blown; [vul. ஈச்சத்தோல்.] 66)

ukku (p. 59) கிறது, உக்கினது, உக்கும், உக்க, v. n. To rot, decay, moulder, perish, உக் கிப்போக. 2. To dread, fear, பயப்பட. உக்கதலமணியுரகரரசற்கென்றால். If the king of serpents which inhabits the abyss be shocked-துக்கத்தினாலுக்கிப்போனான். He is wasted with grief, he is pining away. உக்கினமரம், s. A worm-eaten tree, or rotten timber. உக்கல், s. [vul.] Rottenness, putridity, பதனழிவு. 2. Any thing rotten or perished, உளுத்தது. 25)

uḷu (p. 67) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To be worm-eaten--as wood, to be eaten out by worms, insects, weevils--as grain, seeds, or other cold body, மரமுதலியவையுளுக்க. 2. To perish as flour, to become spoiled, மாவாயுளுக்க. இந்தமரமுழுதுமுளுத்துப்போயிற்று. This wood in entirely worm-eaten. இச்சரீரமுப்பிருந்தபாண்டம்போலுளுத்துப்போம்.... The body becomes corroded like a vessel in which salt is kept. உளுத்ததுவரை, s. The worm-eaten seed of the Cajan shrub, Cajanus Indicus. உளுப்பு, v. noun. Being wormeaten, உளுக்கை. உளுப்புத்தாவ, inf. To begin to be worm-eaten. 42)

cūttai (p. 200) s. [prov. loc. சொத்தை.] That which is decayed--as tooth, &c. (c.) சூத்தைப்பல், s. A carious tooth. சூத்தைக்கத்தரிக்காய், s. Blasted brinjals. சூத்தைப்பாக்கு, s. A worm-eaten areka-nut. சூத்தையரிக்க, inf. To be decayed, or worm-eaten. 25)

cottai (p. 211) s. That which is worm-eaten, decayed, injured by insects, புழு வண்டுமுத லியனஅரித்தது. 2. Defect in fruits, பழத்திற்சொ த்தை. 3. (fig.) [loc.] A scabby state of body. காரியஞ்சொத்தையாய்ப்போயிற்று, The expectation has been disappointed. 7)

coḷḷai (p. 212) s. [vul.] That which is decayed, worm-eaten, or carious, சொத்தை. 2. [prov.] A slap on the head of the loser in a game of ball, சொட்டு. 3. (c.) Stigma, flaw in character, இழுக்கு. 4. Marks of small-pox, அம்மைச்சொள்ளை. சொள்ளைப்பிடிக்க--சொள்ளைவிழ, inf. To be decoyed--as fruits, or injured in character. சொள்ளைப்பாக்கு, s. A worm-eaten areca-nut. சொள்ளைமுகம், s. puẕu (p. 327) s. A worm, a maggot, &c., as கிருமி. (c.) புழுநெளியுமாப்போலே. Squirming or wriggling like a worm; i. e. to be restless. புழுஅரித்தல்--புழுமேய்தல், v. noun. Gnawing, and causing itching or irritation, as animalcule in eruptions. 2. Being worm-eaten. 3. As புழுக்கடி, 1. புழுக்கடி--புழுவெட்டு, v. noun. A disease which makes the hair fall off. 2. Any thing worm-eaten. புழுக்கூடு, s. [poet. புழுக்குரம்பை.] A chrysalis, the testaceous or mud shell of insects, the cocoon. 2. [fig.] The body. புழுக்கூடுகட்ட, inf. To construct nests, as insects, in rape seed, &c., to become mouldy as grain. புழுக்குத்தி--புழுக்கொத்தி, appel. n. The hoope bird. See கொண்டலாத்தி. புழுக்கொல்லி, appel. n. A plant whose medicinal effects counteract the poison of worms, bees, &c., Aristolochia. புழுப்புழுத்தல்--புழுவைத்தல், v. noun. Breeding as worms in meat, a sore, &c. புழுவதை, s.
