aḷvḷāvu (p. 33) கிறேன், அளவளாவி னேன், வேன், அளவளாவ, v. n. To be very intimate, live sociably, converse freely, கலக்க. (p.) அளவளாதல்--அளவளாவல்--அள வளாவு--அளவளாவுதல், v. noun. Being very intimate, sociable, ஐக்கமாயிருத்தல். அளவளாவில்லாதான்வாழ்க்கை குளவளாக்கோடி ன்றிநீர் நிறைந்தற்று. The prosperity of the man who does not cultivate sociality with his friends, is like a tank full of water without banks. 24)

irākam (p. 50) s. Love, desire, affection, passion--as a power of the soul in operation while in connection with matter, ஆசை. 2. Connubial love, sexual desire, மோகம். 3. Color, tint, dye, நிறம். 4. Of this mode, four classes are given, இராகத்தகுதி, ச. viz.: I. இடம், tunes appropriate to different districts of country--as maritime, agricultural and mountainous, அவ்வத்திணை க்குரியவிராகம். Of these there are five, viz.: 1. குறிஞ்சி. 2. பஞ்சுரம். 3. சாதாரி. 4. மருதம். 5. செவ்வழி. II. செய்யுள், tunes applicable to different kinds of poetry--as to வெண் பா, சங்கராபரணம்; to அகவல், தோடி; to கலிப்பா, பந்துவராளி; to கலித்துறை, பைரவி. III. குணம், tunes suited to peculiar occasions--as நாட்டை, martial music; காம்போதி, சாவேரி, and தன்னியாசி, dancing tunes, or tunes for festive occasions; ஆகரி, கண்டாரவம், நீலாம்புரி, பியாகடம் and புன்னாகவராளி, for condolence. IV. காலம், tunes adapted to seasons--as to the spring, அசாவேரி, &c.; the morning, இந்தோளம், இராமகலி, &c.; noon, சாரங்கம், தே சாட்சரி, &c.; evening, கன்னடம், கலியாணி; night, ஆகரி. Others are applicable to all times. There are thirty-two tunes mentioned; viz.: 1. பைரவி. 2. தேவக்கிரியை. 3. மேகவிரஞ்சி. 4. குறிஞ்சி. 5. பூபாளம். 6. வேளா வளி. 7. மலகரி. 8. பௌளி. 9. சீராகம். 1. இந்தோளம். 11. பல்லதி. 12. சாவேரி. 13. பட மஞ்சரி. 14. தேசி. 15. இலலிதை. 16. தோடி. 17. வசந்தம். 18. இராமக்கிரியை. 19. வராளி. 2. கைசிகம். 21. மாளவி. 22. நாராயணி. 23. குண்டக்கிரியை. 24. கூர்ச்சரி. 25. பங்காளம். 26. தன்னியாசி. 27. காம்போதி. 28. கௌளி. 29. நாட்டை 3. தேசாட்சரி. 31. காந்தாரி. 32. சா ரங்கம். Of these, 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, are male tunes, and the three following each of them respectively are their wives. Of these, 1-5 are appropriated to Brahmans; 9-13 to kings; 17-21 to merchants; 25-29 to tradesmen and laborers. The deity of the 1st is ஈசன்; of the 2d திருமால்; of the 3d சரச்சுவதி; of the 4th இலக்குமி; of the 5th சூரியன்; of the 6th நாரதன்; of the 7th விநாயகன்; and of the 8th தும்புரு வன்--the wives being joined with each. இராகங்கலக்க--இராகங்கலைய, inf. To run into another tune. இராகத்தின்படிபாட, inf. To sing agreeably to the tune. இராகந்தப்ப, inf. To fall out of tune. இராகபரிட்சைக்காரன், s. One skilled in music. இராகப்பயிற்சி, s. The practice of vocal or instrumental music, the knowledge of melody or music in general, இசைபயில்கை. இராகமெடுக்க, inf. To pitch a tune, இராகமாலாபிக்க. இராகம்பாட, inf. To sing. இராகவிராகம், s. iẕai (p. 55) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், இழைக்க, v. a. To mix, to compound, கலக்கச் செய்ய. 2. To inchase, set precious stones, or fine gold in a coarser kind, மணிபதிக்க. 3. To plane, shave, சீவ. 4. To braid mats, jackets, &c., to plat, weave, பின்ன. 5. To appoint, determine, resolve, destine, predestinate, விதிக்க. 6. To select, to pick, to separate, cull out, ஆய. 7. (p.) uyir (p. 63) s. Life, soul, vitality, animal or vegetable life, சீவன். 2. Wind, காற்று. 3. A vowel, உயிரெழுத்து. 4. A living being, human, brute, or vegetable; an animal, ஓரறி வுயிர்முதலியசீவராசி. உயிருமுடலும்போல. As closely united as the soul and body. உயிர்போய்விட்டது. Life is gone. மன்னுயிர்க்கிரங்குகிறது. To be compassionate to other living creatures. உயிரடங்க, inf. To be in a state of insensibility, be in a swoon, to be suspended as the vital powers. உயிரடைய, inf. To revive, to be reanimated. உயிரளபு--உயிரளபெடை, s. The lengthening of a vowel in verse. See அளபெடை. உயிரறுதியும். Till the very end of life. உயிருதவி, s. Aid in a fatal juncture. 2. Aid by sacrificing life for another. உயிரெடுக்க, inf. To take away life. உயிரெழுத்து, s. A vowel, ஆவி. உயிரொடுங்க, inf. To be reduced as the powers before death, உயிரடங்க. 2. To die, சாவ. உயிரொளிக்க, inf. [prov.] To feign great weakness, sickness, inability, &c., in order to gain or effect an object, உயிர்மறைக்க. உயிரொளித்தகள்ளன், s. A cringing deceiver who though rich and strong makes pretensions to the contrary. உயிரோம்ப, inf. To support life, maintain, உயிர்காக்க. உயிர்கலக்க, inf. To revive, to be diffused--as life through the body in one that has been swooning, &c. 2. To reunite as the soul with the body in one restored to life. 3. (fig.) To be relieved from anxiety, &c. உயிர்குடிக்க, inf. To devour life, kill (a war term), also used of demons and ferocious deities, கொல்ல. உயிர்கொள்ள, inf. To take the life of an antagonist--as in battle, &c., உயிர்வாங்க. உயிர்க்கட்டை, s. The body, உடம்பு. உயிர்க்கணம், s. ulai (p. 66) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To harass, vex, agitate one--as a demon; to distress as a fever, &c., அலைக்க. 2. To ruin, injure, impoverish, reduce, or emaciate one--as a disease, கெடுக்க. 3. To disorder, derange one`s circumstances, to unsettle, கலைக்க. 4. To ruin by seduction, desertion, &c., to injure another's character, ruin a person, a family, &c., சீரழிக்க. 5. To put to the rout, discomfit, முறியடிக்க. 6. To be confused through fear and to speak incoherently, indistinctly, or inconsistently, to give confused evidence, வீணாயுளற. 4. To utter incoherent sounds--as a person dreaming, கனாக்கண்டு பிதற்ற. உளறுதல், s. A great noise, பே ரொலி. உளறுபடி, s. Incoherence in speaking, குழறுகை. 2. Confusion in business, கலக்கம். 38)

uẕkku (p. 67) கிறேன், உழக்கினேன், வே ன், உழக்க, v. n. To fence, சிலம்பம்பழக. (p.) 2. v. a. To trample, tread upon, mash, injure, devastate or destroy by treading, &c., மிதிக்க. 3. (p.)
