akil (p. 3) s. A fragrant wood the smoke of which is used for perfuming the hair. Aquila, or eaglewood-Xylaloo, ஓர் மரம். (c.) அகிற்கட்டை-அகிற்குறடு, s. A block of Aquila, sandal. அகிற்கூட்டு, s. A compound of five ingredients, viz., ஏலம், an unguent, கருப் பூரம், pure camphor, எரிகாசு, spices, சந்தனம், sandal wood, and தேன், honey--used for perfuming the hair. (p.) அகிற்புகையூட்ட, inf. A mental appropriation or the assignment of various parts of the body to tutelary divinities, by touching the several parts, and applying sacred ashes, accompanied with incantations, according to the usual mode of Hindu worship; ex. நியாஸ, arrangement. Expiation for bodily impurity, especially the oblation offered by the heir at the first funeral obsequies to remove the impurity contracted during the period of mourning. (c.) அங்கமாலை, s. A பிரபந்தம் or poem describing the principal members of the body, such as the eye, face, breasts, &c., in the female, and shoulders, arms, breast, &c., in the male.
