Vices are of three classes, of மனம், வாக்கு, and காயம். 1. மனத்தீக்குணம், sins of the mind, as (a) கொலைநினைக்கை, murderous intention; (b) காமப்பற்று, libidinous desire; (c) ஆசை, avarice, ambition. 2. வாக்கின்தீக்குணம், sins of the mouth--as (a) பொய்சொல்லல், lying; (b) கோள்சொல்லல், tale-bearing; (c) கோபித்துச்சொல்லல், angry speaking; (d) பயனில்சொல்லல், trifling or vain discourse. 3. காயத்தீக்குணம், sins of the body--as (a) களவாடப்போதல், thievish practices; (b) வறிதேதொழில்செயல், idleness; (c) கொலை செயல், killing, murder. தீக்குணர், s. tur (p. 249) s. A prefix used in combination signifying evil, ill, bad, deficient; it is often changed to ற், before the hard letters, to ன் before the soft, as துன்மார்க்கம். Insubordination, refractoriness, rebellion of a youth or dependant, &c., செருக்கு. துர்ச்சனநடத்தை--துர்ச்சனவியோகம், s. Vicious conduct, a vicious course. துர்ச்சனன், s. A petulant or insolent man. துர்ச்சனனைக்கண்டால்தூரவிலகு...... Abstain from an insolent person. துர்ச்செய்கை, s. Evil action. துர்ச்சொப்பனம், s. (also துச்சொப்ப னம்.] A bad or ominous dream. துர்த்தேவதை, s. A malignant demon. துர்ப்பலம், s. Weakness, feebleness, thinness, emaciation, பலவீனம். 2. (fig.) The state of being reduced in circumstances, சிறுமை. முன்னமேதுர்ப்பலைஅதிலுங்கர்ப்பிணி. Before weak, and now also pregnant; or poor, and under a heavy fine. துர்ப்பலன், s. Ill result as predicted in astrology. அமங்கலப்பயன். 2. Bad fruit, ill consequence. துர்ப்பாக்கியம்--தௌர்ப்பாக்கியம், s. Evil, calamity, ill-luck, misery, நிர்ப்பாக் கியம். துர்ப்பிட்சம்--துர்ப்பிக்ஷம், s. Famine, பஞ்சம். See பிட்சம். துர்ப்பீசம், s. An illegitimate child, வம்புப்பிள்ளை. See பீசம். துர்ப்புத்தி, s. nl (p. 270) --நல்ல, adj. [in combin. before க, ச, த, ப. changed to ற் and commonly before ம to ன்.] Good, excellent, beneficial, eminent, நன்மையான. 2. Acceptable, desirable, agreeable, ஏற்ற. 3. Abundant, copious, மிகுந்த. 4. Much, intence, அதிகமான. 5. Auspicious, propitious, fortunate, நன்னிமித்தமுள்ள.--Note. It is sometimes combined with words of had meaning to show intensity, as நல்லகள் ளன், a consummate thief. நல்லகாயம், s. Severe wound. நல்லகாய், s. Abundant fruit, மிகுகாய். இந்ததடவைநல்லகாய். The crop of fruit this time is abundant. நல்லகாலம், s. A propitious time; also நற்காலம். நல்லகுணம், s. Good temper, a benevolent, amiable disposition; also நற்குணம். நல்லகுணத்தோடேகொடு. [vul. fem. நன்மச்சினி.] Son of a mother's brother. நன்மச்சினி, s. A female cousin, properly the daughter of a maternal uncle or aunt. நன்மருகன்--நன்மருமகன், s. A man's sister's son, or a woman's brother's son, சொந்தமருமகன். நன்மருகி--நன்மருமகள், s. A man's sister's daughter, or a woman's brother's daughter, சொந்தமருகி. நன்மனம், s. As நல்லமனம். (R.) நன்மாதிரி, s. A good example; a good pattern or specimen, &c. நன்மாமன், s. A maternal uncle. நன்மாமி, s. A paternal aunt. நன்மார்க்கம், s. Virtue, virtuous conduct, morality. நன்முகம், s. Benignity; cheerfulness of countenance, pleasant looks, as நல்ல முகம். நன்மைத்துனன், s. [fem. நன்மைத்துனி.] A male cousin, properly son of a maternal uncle of aunt, நல்லம்மான்புதல்வன். நன்னடை, s. (Jaffna usage.) நன்னலம், s. Excellence, eminence, மேன்மை. 2. Beauty. அழகு. (p.) நன்னிலம், s. Good land, நல்லபூமி. 2. A rice field. நன்செய். நன்னிலை, s. Observance of a proper and prescribed couse of conduct, நல் லொழுக்கம். 2. Religious austerities, தவம். 3. The world, உலகம். (சது.) நன்னிறம், s. White, as being the simplest or purest color, வெண்மை. (p.) நன்னிறத்தியல்பெனநாடினர்கொளலே. It must be understand that it is the nature of white color. நன்னுதல், s.
