உறை
uṟai (p. 68) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To be pungent, biting, sharp, கார்க்க. 2. To burn--as the body from exposure to the sun --the mouth, or a sore from any thing pungent--the back after flogging, &c., எரிய. 3. To affect acutely, cut to the quick--as a blow, rebuke, a sarcasm, &c.; to impress, தாக்க. 4. To become firm, fast, steadfast, decided--as the mind, அழுந்த. உறைக்கமழைபெய்தது. It rained effectively. என்மேலேசூடுறைக்கிறது. The heat burns or scorches me. நாணுறைப்ப. So as to be touched with shame. (நீதிநெறி.) உப்புறைக்கிறது. It is very salt. சொன்னதொன்றுங்காதிலேயுறைக்கவில்லையா.... Has nothing that I said affected you? lit. your ears. என்மனதிலேயுறைக்கிறது. It touches me to the quick. நான்சொன்னதுஅவன்மனதிலேயுறைத்தது. To become strengthened in mind. வாயுறைக்க, inf. To burn as the mouth through eating hot spices. உறைப்பு, v. noun. Sharpness, pungency, acrimony, காரம். 2. Severity, tartness, harshness in language, &c., கொடுமை. 3. Smarting, &c. of the mouth from eating pungent spices, எரிவு. 4. Painful sensations of body or mind, தாக்குகை. 5. Intensity, acuteness, severity, உக்கிரம். 6. Impressiveness, positiveness, பதிவு. உறைப்பானபேச்சு, s. Pointed language, cutting reproof, a biting sarcasm, a caustic remark. 2. Impressive speech. உறைப்பானமழை, s. An efficacious or fertilizing rain. உறைப்புக்காட்ட, inf. To be pungent. 2. To add pungent ingredients to curries, &c. 3. To be impressive, poignant, &c.--as a discourse. 13)

நாணு
nāṇu (p. 273) கிறேன், நாணினேன், வேன், நாண, v. n. To feel bashful, to be modest, or coy, as a woman, கூச. 2. to be shy, to shrink back, as from a forbidding sight; to feel repugnance or dislike, பின்னிட. 3. To acquiesce or yield through regard, அட ங்க. 4. To shrink from the touch, as some vegetables; to yield, as disease to medicine, வாட. 5. To be shy, and run away, as snakes, &c., are said to do when certain herbs or roots are shewn, அஞ்ச. 6. [prov.] To be influenced unfavorably as some trees or plants by nearness to the cocoa; to be uncongenial, to each other, as the red and white lotus, பிணங்க. (c.) மாமியாரைக்கண்டுமருமகள்நாணுகிறதுபோலே..... As the doughter-in-law is embarrassed in presence of her mother-in-law. நாணி, s. A modest person, நாணமுடை யாள். 84)

nālu (p. 275) --நால், கிறேன், நான்றேன், வேன், நால, v. n. [also ஞாலு.] To hang, to be suspended, to be hung up, தொங்க. 2. To hung down, to fall, as the under-jaw, or tongue; to incline to drop, as the heat, இறங்க. 3. To fall down as drops, துளிவிழ. (சது.) நால்வாய், s. An elephant whose mouth, or lower lip, hangs down, யானை. (சது.) நால்வாயன், s. The god Ganesa, the elephant faced, விநாயகன். 2. Indra, the elephant rider, இந்திரன். நான்றவாய், s.
