See பிங்கலை. இடைக்கட்டு, s. A girdle, sash. 2. The allowance made for the weight of a vessel before weighing any thing in it. இடைக்காடன், s. A Rishi or சித்தன்--one of the eighteen. இடைக்கிடை. Here and there, interspersed, நடுநடுவே. 2. Of like weight, even weight, equilibrium, நிறைக்குநிறை இடைக்குலநாதன், s. Vishnu as brought up by shepherds. இடைக்குறை, s. [in grammar.] A word shortened in the middle, syncope, elision; as ஓதி for ஓந்தி, camelion. (See விகாரம்.) 2. An island, blank space in a river, &c., ஆற்றிடைக்குறை. இடைக்கொள்ளை, s. Pillaging, plunder, free booty, plundering without regard to either party, நடுக்கொள்ளை. 2. (in Agastiar.) The ravages of an epidemic discase, கொள்ளைநோயான்வருமழிவு. இடைசுருங்குபறை, s. A small drum tapering in the middle, உடுக்கை. இடைசூரி, s. [prov.] Gold or silverbeads interspersed here and there between sacred or other beads, உருத்திராக்க முதலியவற்றிற்கிடையிற்கோத்திடுவது. இடைச்சனி--இடையெழுஞ்சனி, s. The eleventh lunar asterism, in which Saturn is considered very malignant. See கடையெழுஞ்சனி and முதலெழுஞ் சனி. இடைச்சன், s. The second child, இரண்டாம்பேறு. (c.) இடைச்சாதி, s. The second or middle tribe of வைசியர்--the third caste. இடைச்சேரி, s. A shepherd's village. இடைத்தட்டு, s. Getting profit indirectly by interposing between parties, &c. or by purchasing goods of one and selling them again from a distance. இடைநடு, s. The middle emphatically (a pleonasm in rhetoric.) இடைநரை, s. Hair or beard growing grey here and there. இடைநிலை, s. In verbs generally, the characteristics of tense, வினையிடைநிலை. 2. A neutral state, neutral or middle state, stagnation in business transactions, இருபுறத்திலுஞ்சாராமனிற்கை. 3. In some compound nouns, one of the component parts, பெயரிடைநிலை. இடைநிலைத்தீபகம், s. One of the beauties of poetry, விளக்கணிமூன்றிலொன்று. See தீபகம். இடைநிலைமயக்கு, s. [in orthography.] The proper combination of letters in the middle of a word, மொழியி லிரண்டெழுத்து மயங்கிநிற்கை--if the same consonant be repeated in the middle of a word, it is called, உடனிலைமெய்மயக்கு; if otherwise, it is called, வேற்றுநிலைமெய்ம யக்கு. இடைநீரினிற்க, inf. [prov.] To swim with the body erect and the water only up to the waist. இடைப்பட, inf. To interpose, happen in the interim, come in, between, among, &c., to happen, இடையிலுண்டாக. இடைப்படுதானம், s. Giving of a secondary order, bestowing through pity on the poor, the blind, மத்திமதானம். இடைப்பழம், s. Ripe fruits interspersed among the unripe. இடைப்பழம்பழுத்தல், v. noun. Ripening as fruits here and there. இடைப்பிறவரல், v. noun. Words intervening between any one word and another with which it makes sense--as between the noun and its attribute, &c., எழுவாய்முதலிய தொடரினுள் இடையிலேற்ற பிற சொல்வரல். இடைப்புழுதி, s. Land in a state for sowing, neither very moist nor very dry, காய்ந்துங்காயாதிருக்கிறபுழுதி. இடைப்புள்ளி, s. Marks scattered here and there--as in tobacco leaves, &c., fruits, &c. இடைப்பூட்டு, s. A truss, girdle, அரைப்பூட்டு. இடைப்போகம், s. An interior crop, out of season, இடையிற்புன்பயிர்விளைவு. இடைமடக்கு, s. Silencing one by vociferation, இடையிற்றடுக்கை. 2. Haughty speaking, இடக்குமடக்கானபேச்சு. 3. [in prosody.] The repetition of a word in the middle of a line with a varied meaning. See மடக்கு. இடைமுள், s. Small, new eruptions about a healing ulcer or bile, மறு முள்பாய்கை. 2. A disease, a kind of eruption, ஓர்கரப்பன். இடைமேடு, s. Rice-land of moderate height, நடுத்தரமானமேடு. இடையற, inf. To cease or terminate suddenly. இடையறாவன்பு, s. Never-ceasing love. இடையன், s. (fem. இடைச்சி.) A shepherd--as occupying a middle position. இடைப்புத்திபிடரியிலே. The shepherds have their wit in their nape; i. e. they have none. இடையன்கால்வெள்ளி, s. [prov.] The star Aldabaran in the constellation Aries, ஓர்விண்மீன். இடையாந்தரம், s. An intermediate space or time. அந்தவேலை யிடையாந்தரத்திலே கெட்டுப்போ யிற்று. The business was interrupted, spoiled in the interim. இடையாயர், s. Persons of a middling class in piety, excellence, &c. See தலை and கடை. இடையிட, inf. To intervene, be interspersed, to have intermediate spaces either of time or place, to intermit, happen intermediately, நடுவிற்றோன்ற. இடையிட்டுவந்தசெல்வம், s. Acquired wealth and prosperity, obtained during life, not derived from ancestors. இடையிட்டெதுகை, s. The எது கை or rhyming of the third letter in every other line. இடையிடை. From time to time, at intervals, intervening space. இடையிலேகொண்டுபோக, inf. To take by theft or force, to plunder fruits, furniture, &c. 2. To take off property at one's death--as persons who are not heirs. 3. To seize and carry off property from one who has stolen it--as a constable from a thief. (c.) இடையிலேவயிறுவளர்க்க, inf. To get a living at the expense of others, not reducing one's own stock. (c.) இடையினவெதுகை, s. A connective particle variously used, ஓரிடைச்சொல். 1. எதிர்மறையும்மை, the use of உம் with an affirmative, or negative expressing probability, possibility, &c., and implying the possibility, &c., of the contrary--as, சாத்தன்வருதற்குமுரியன், Sattan may perhaps come; அவன்வரவுங்கூடும், It is possible that he may come. 2. சிறப்பும்மை, the உம் of speciality, including உயர்வுசிறப் பும்மை, or superiority and இழிவுசிறப்பும்மை, or inferiority--as, ஞானிகளுமறியார்கள்சித்திரநதிமூல ம், Even the sages are unacquainted with the source of the சித்திரம் river; இவ்வூர்ப்பூனை யும்புலாறின்னாது, Even the cats of this place will not eat flesh (so sacred is it, so vile is the practice); பார்ப்பானுங்கள்ளுண்டான், Even a Brahman has been drinking toddy; இவனைநாயுந்தேடாது, Even a dog will not regard him. 3. ஐயவும்மை, the உம் in doubt, uncertainty, indecision, equivocal forms, probability, possibility--as, அவர்பத்தாயினுந் தருவார்பதினைந்தாயினுந்தருவார், Perhaps he may give ten or he may give fifteen; மழை பெய்தாலும்பெய்யும், It may perhaps rain; பத் தானுமெட்டானுங்கொடு, Give ten, or eight, ten would be preferred, but eight may do; வரினும்வருவான், It is probable that he may come. The உம் is often suppressed. 4. எச்சவும்மை, இறந்ததுதழீஇயவெச்சவும்மை, எதிரதுதழீ இயவெச்சவும்மை, the use of உம் implying another person, thing, or event, understood, and meaning likewise, too, even--as, அவனும் வந்தான், He also is come (implying that another is come or expected); நாம்பாடவும் வேண்டும், We must sing also (as well as dance, &c.); கேட்டும்படிக்கவேண்டும், By inquiry also we must learn (as well as by other means). 5. முற்றும்பை, indicating the whole of a number or series, universality, totality--as, ஒருவருக்குமையமில்லை, None can doubt; எங்குமில்லை, no where; இருகண்ணுஞ் சிவந்தன, both eyes reddened; எவ்விடமும், every where; இரண்டையுங்கொண்டுவா, Bring them both; எல்லாரும், எவரும், ஆரும்வந்தார், all, whoever, &c. came; மிகுந்தநாலுபணத்தை யுந்தா, Give me the remaining four fanams; மூவரும், all the three persons. 6. எண்ணும் மை, a numeral connective, corresponding with, and commonly repeated with each word of the series; நீயுமவனும்வந்தீர்கள், You and he came. The particle is sometimes joined to the last only--as, சாத்தன், கொற்றன், பூதனும் வந்தார்கள், Sattan, Kottan and Poodan came. Sometimes it is wholly omitted, and a pronoun including the series used instead--as, சாத்தன்கொற்றன்இவர்கள்வந்தார்கள். Sometimes the last noun in the series is used in the plural--as, சாத்தகோற்றவர்வந்தார்கள். 7. தெரிநிலையும்மை, the உம் of ascertainment, clear perception, or decision, used of three or more things concerning which doubt has been entertained, but which is now cleared up--as, ஆணுமன்றுபெண்ணுமன்று, It is neither male nor female (but in hermaphrodite); அவருண்பதுசோறுமல்ல, பணிகாரமுமல் ல, சாகமூலபலாதிகள், His food is neither rice nor cakes, but leaves, roots and fruits, &c. 8. ஆக்கவும்மை, உம் expressive of a change of state--as, பாலுமாயிற்று, This milk became medicine also; வலியனுமாயினான், He has become even a strong man. The above eight are given in நன்னூல். 9. உம் joined to an infinitive implies விரைவு, the immediate occurrence of the event--as, துரைகட்டளையிடவுங்காரியஞ்செய்துமுடிந்தது, As soon as the magistrate gave the order, the thing was done; அவர்சொல்லவுமுலகங்களுண் டாம், As soon as he speaks worlds appear. The உம் is often omitted, but then it is less expressive--as, நானிதைச்செய்யெனச்செய்கிறான், I say this and he does it. 1. உம் added to a verbal noun in poetry, sometimes gives it a gerund-like succession of the event--as, காண்டலுமிதுவேசொல்வான், Seeing him he spoke thus; வருதலுந்தழுவிக் கொண்டான், As soon as he came he embraced. 11. உம் is associated to the social ablative with the same meaning--as, கடுங்கணைதொடுத்தலோடும், As soon as the swift arrows were shot. 12. உம் added to the infinitive serves for optative, especially in epistolary usage but not in good style--as, தாங்கள்மறுமொழியனுப்பவும், May you please to send an answer; இப்படிச்செய்யவும், May you do so, I wish you to do so. 13. உம் added to the following forms of a verb, செய்து, செய்யின், செய்தால், has the force of though, although--as, அவனறிந்தும்வரவில்லை. Though he knew, he did not come; சொல்லி னும் or சொன்னாலும்அவன்கேளான், Though you may tell him he will not listen. 14. உம் added to இல் or இன் forms of the fifth case gives the force of the comparative degree --as, கந்தனினும்வலியனே, He is even stronger than Skanda. 15. A token of reproof, menace, anger, &c., also of attention, assent, doubt, non-compliance, &c., (see ஊம்)--as, உம்மெனத்தெழித்துரப்ப, He reproved his rashness by uttering the menacing sound உம் (ஸ்காந்தம்); கதைசொல்லுகி றேன்உம்கொட்டிக்கேள், I am going to tell you a story, show that you listen by saying உம்; உம்மெனுமார்பைத்தட்டும், The guilt of Brahmanicide manifested in a phantom threatened by saying உம் and striking on its breast (திருவிளையாடல்). 16. A termination of the imperative plural, முன்னிலைப்பன்மைவி குதி-- as, நீவிர்சொல்லும், say ye. It is often used honorifically in imperative singular --as, கடவுளேநீரிரங்கும், God be merciful. 17. A termination of verbs third pers. pres. or fut. tense sing. number, also of neut. plurals--as அவன்செய்யும், He does or will do it; சிங்கங்கள்முழங்கும், The lions roar, or will roar, செய்யுமென்முற்றுவிகுதி. 18. A modification of the pronoun நீர் when it is declined in the different cases--as, உம்மை, உம் மால், &c. 19. The termination of the future relative participle, எதிர்காலப்பெயரெச்ச விகுதி--as, உலகாளும்அரசர், Kings who govern the world. 2)

eṭu (p. 73) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To take up, lift up, raise, தூக்க. 2. To take off, take away, extract, take out, remove a stain, dirt, humor, &c., or one body from another, chemically, or otherwise combined, ஒன்றிலிருந்தெடுக்க. 3. To undertake, take in hand, enter upon, தொடங்க. 4. To adopt--as a sentiment, &c., receive, take--as one's own, அங்கீகரிக்க. 5. [in combination.] To rise, extend itself, become spread, or liffused, to be attacked with pain, &c., மயக்கமெடுக்க. 13. To swell, heave, rise in billows, எழும்ப. 14. To keck, puke, vomit, வாந்தியெடுக்க. எடுக்கத்தொடுக்கவிடான். He will not let me begin; spoken figuratively in allusion to the discharge of arrows. எடுப்பாரும் பிடிப்பாருமுண்டானாலிளைப்புந்தவிப்பும் மெத்தத்தோன்றும். Where there are many attendants much trouble is experienced. பிள்ளைக்குமூக்கெடுக்க. To raise or force out the upper part of the nose of an infant--as a nurse by pressing with two fingers. அரசனாலயமெடுத்தான். The king has built a temple. இந்தப்பாரமெடுக்கமாட்டேன். I am unable to carry this load. அதையெடுத்துப்பேசினான். He took up the subject. யானைதும்பிக்கையினாலேபணத்தையெடுக்கும். The elephant will take up a small coin with his proboscis. ஏரியெடுத்துப்போகிறது. The water of the lake has carried away its embankment. இதினாலிலாகிரியெடுக்கும். This will cause intoxication. சோற்றிலிருக்கிறகல்லையெடுக்கமாட்டாதவன்மோக னக்கல்லைத்தாங்குவானா. Will he who cannot pick out a stone from rice be able to lift the stone architrave of a temple vestibule? i. e. he who is incapable of little matters must be incapable of great ones. விழுந்தவனையெடாமலுதைக்கலாமா. Is it proper to kick, instead of raising, a fallen man? இந்தச்சீலையையெந்தக்கடையிலெடுத்தாய். In what bazaar did you buy this cloth? புல்லெடுக்கிறதரை. Ground covered with an exuberant growth of grass. எடாதஎடுப்பு, s. Living above one's rank, circumstances, means, &c., engaging in an enterprise, beyond one's powers, &c. எடாதஎடுப்பெடுக்கலாகாது. It is improper to engage in an enterprise above one's circumstances. எடுகூலி, s. Porterage, hire for carrying burdens, சுமைக்கூலி. எடுத்தடிமடக்கு, s. Retort, turning a person's reasons or remarks against himself, confuting one by his own arguments, anticipating a person in word, or action, in order to check, or thwart him in his object; interrupting one in speaking, &c. 2. Temerity, rashness; speaking, answering, or acting rashly, துணிவு. எடுத்தடிவைக்க, inf. To begin to step--as a child, காலைப்பெயர்த்துவைக்க. எடுத்தபடி, adv. Suddenly, at once, promptly, extemporaneously. எடுத்தமொழியினெய்தவைத்தல், v. noun. An author's forming rules applicable to the examples he finds-one of the உத்தி. எடுத்தலளவையாகுபெயர், s. One of the four kinds of அளவையாகுபெயர், according to which, the weight of the article weighed is used for the scale. எடுத்தாட்சி, s. A thing much in use, வழக்கம். எடுத்தார்கைப்பிள்ளை, s. eẕutu (p. 75) கிறேன், எழுதினேன், வேன், எழுத, v. a. To write, paint, draw, mark, stain, trace (letters, &c.), inscribe, வரைய. 2. To foreordain, to predestine. This verb is soused from the notion that each one's fate is written by Brahma in the skull, தலையிலெழுத. 3. To write composition, draw up in writing, வசனாதிகளெழுத. 4. To engrave, சித்திரமெழுத. எழுதக்கைதிரும்பவில்லை. The hand is not yet trained. எட்கிடைநெற்கிடைவிட்டெழுத. kālam (p. 104) s. Time. duration, பொழுது-Note. In Hindu philosophy, காலம் is said by the Saivas to have proceeded from மோகினி Maya, and to be a co-efficient cause with Siva in the acts of creation, preservation and destruction. It is Time personified, and according to the Hindu metaphysicians, one of the seven வித்தியாத் துவம். (சிவ. சி.) 2. Season of the year or life; also a specific time of the day, பருவம். 3. A seasonable or proper time, opportunity, season, சமயம். Wils. p. 216. KALA. 4. Day-break, விடியல். 5. (fig.) (c.) An experienced man; an aged person. காலங்கரந்தபெயரெச்சம், s. [in gram.] A relative participle without the characteristics of the tenses--as in கொல் யானை. காலங்கழிக்க, inf. To pass time கா லம்போக்க. காலங்கழிய, inf. To pass--as time, நாட்கழிய. காலங்கூட, inf. [local.] To die. காலசக்கரம், s. The different number of years of influence ascribed to the respective planets as operative on the lives of persons, ஆயுள்நியதிச்சக்கரம். 2. The aggregate of the years of the nine planets according to their respective influence, கிரகபலச்சக்கரம். 3. Period or term of life, ஆயுட்காலம். Wils. p. 216. KALACHAKRA.. அவனுக்குக்காலச்சக்கரமுடிவுவந்துவிட்டது. The end of his term is come. காலசங்கதி, s. Intelligence, news or events of the time or the day. காலசங்கை, s. Guess of time from mere inspection, காலஉத்தேசம். 2. Reckoning of time, காலக்கணக்கு. (p.) காலசந்தி, s. The daily morning worship; also applicable to that at noon and evening. 2. Time in reference to the influences of planets upon the fortune, health, &c., of a person. காலநோக்காடு, s. [prov. in child-birth.] Natural and timely labor. காலந்தள்ள, inf. To pass one's days, to pass one's time, to maintain one's self, to live, காலம்போக்க. காலப்பரிச்சேதம், s. Discernment--as to the time of an event or the existences of a thing. It is one of the three பரிச்சேதம் modes of ascertaining facts. காலபரிபாகம், s. The maturity of the soul, or time for its attaining bliss, having eliminated its good and evil propensities. காலபேதம்--காலவித்தியாசம்--கால வேற்றுமை, s. Difference of time with respect to the changes it produces. காலபோகம், s. A crop of grain or fruits in the proper season. 2. The enjoyment or suffering resulting from previous moral actions, to which a living being at distant times is subjected, காலப் பயனுகர்வு. காலப்பெயர், s. Nouns or names of time--as year, month. 2. Nouns derived from names of time--as பங்குனன் (one born in the பங்குனி month). காலப்பெயர்ச்சி, s. Change of season or monsoon; unseasonable weather, கால விகற்பம். காலமயக்கம்--காலமயக்கு, s. Confusion of statement in regard to time--as asserting that the lotus blooms in the evening, or the lily during the day. காலமல்லாக்காலம், s. An unfortunate, fatal time; an unseasonable time, அகாலம். காலமழை, s. Rain in the proper season, பருவத்திற்பெய்யுமழை. காலமறிய, inf. To know the times so as to adapt one's self to them, காலவகைய றிய. 2. To know things past, present or future intuitively or by apiritual sight --as yogis, காலவியற்கையறிய. காலமாறு, Morning by morning, every morning, காலைதோறும். (c.). காலமானம், s. [in arith.] Time measure. காலமிருத்து, s. Death at the destined season--as distinguished from accidental death, விதித்தகாலத்திலடையுமரணம். காலமே--காலத்தாலே. In the morning, early, betimes. காலம்பண்ண--காலம்பண்ணிப்போக, inf. To finish one's time, to die. காலம்பார்க்க, inf. To look or watch for a proper time or opportunity, சமயம் பார்க்க. காலம்புரள, inf. To present a manifest revolution--as in the order of things; to be irregular, deranged, &c.--as the events of a time--as toddy-drawers seen riding in palankeens, &c. காலம்போக்க, inf. To pass the times. 2. To while away time. காலவகை, s. Seasons, times, காலக் கூறுபாடு. 2. Circumstances depending on time, காலவேறுபாடு. காலவர்த்தமானம், s. Events of the times. காலவழக்கம், s. Customs of the times. காலவழு, s. [in gram.] An improper use of the tenses--as the past for the future, &c., காலக்குற்றம். காலவாகுபெயர், s. [in gram.] Nouns of time or portions of time, used by metonymy for what is intimately connected with time--as கார்த்திகை, the name of a month, for a plant which mostly blossoms during the month. காலவிடைநிலை, s. [in gram.] Characteristics of tenses, காலத்தைக்காட்டுமிடை நிலை. They are 1. த், ட், ற், and இன் for the past. 2. ஆநின்று, கின்று and கிறு for the present. 3. ப், ல், for the future. There are some other characteristics-as மன், இசின், ய், இ, ன், &c. காலவிரைவு, v. noun. Swiftness or rapid flight of time. காலாகாலம், s. Times seasonable and unseasonable, auspicious and inauspicious, நற்காலந்துர்க்காலம். 2. One time or another, not often, not frequently. (c.) காலாக்கினி, s. The fire which is to destroy the world at the end of the great yuga; a deluge-fire said to be in reserve in the nethermost part of the earth. Wils. p. 218. KALAGNI. 2. One of the two-hundred and twenty-four புவ னம் under the regency of Kálágni. காலாக்கினியுருத்திரம், s. One of the thirty-two உபநிடதம். காலாக்கினியுருத்திரர், s. Rudra or the deity in the lowest region, in charge of the deluge-fire. There are ten subordinate Rudras, who resemble their chief. காலாந்தம், s. The end of time, கால முடிவு; [ex. அந்தம்.] காலாந்தரம், s. Intermediate space of time, process of time, காலநடை. 2. Meanwhile, காலவிடை; [ex அந்தரம், interval.] காலேச்சுரவாதம், s. The metaphysical philosophy which maintains that Time is God. காலோசிதம், s. A fit, proper time, உச் சிதகாலம்; [ex உசிதம்.] அந்தியகாலம், s. The time of death. ஆங்கால மெய்வருந்த வேண்டா வதுதானே தேங்காய்க் கிளநீர்போற் சேருமே, போங்காலம் காட்டானை தின்ற கனியதுபோ லாகுமே தேட்டாளன் றேடுந் தனம். Wealth shall or itself accumulate at the appointed time of increase, as the liquor within a cocoanut, and no toll is required; but at the fixed time for ruin, the riches of a hard-working man shall pass away like the contents of a woodapple eaten by an elephant. எக்காலமும். At what time soever, always. சாங்காலம், s. The time of death or ruin. திரிகாலம்--முக்காலம், s. The three divisions of time, present, past, and future. 2.The three tenses of a verb. திரிசந்திகாலம். W. p. 84. SALI. The rice plant, நெல். 4. (probably a corruption of San. Tâlâ.) W. p. 375. Vinous spirit, toddy, கள்; [ex தாலம், palmyra or palm tree.] 5. [a contraction of சாலிகை.] A coat of mail, கவசம். (சது.) 6. W. p. 84. S'ALIN. A personal termination, masculine or feminine, implying possession--as பாக்கியசாலி, பத்திசாலி, புத்திசாலி, குணசாலி, &c., which see, வடமொழியிறுதி. (p.) சாலிநெல்லுந் தன்னுமியுள்ளது. tamiẕ (p. 223) s. Sweetness, pleasantness, melodiousness, இனிமை. 2. The tamil language, தமிழ்ப்பாஷை; of which there are two principal divisions, செந்தமிழ், high, or polished Tamil and கொடுந்தமிழ், common, or unpolished Tamil. A further division is இயற்றமிழ், prose, இசைத்தமிழ், poetic, and நாடகத்தமிழ், dramatic Tamil. For particulars, see these in their places. 3. Nature, state, quality, நீர்மை--Note. When used adjectively, ழ் sometimes changes to ழ. தமிழப்பிள்ளை, s. A tamil lad. 2. [vul.] A tamil man. தமிழவண்ணான், s. Washerman of caste people. தமிழன், s. (fem. தமிழச்சி.) The order, walk, or going of the Tamil language; i. e. its idiom. தமிழ்நாடன், s. Any king of the Pandyan race. தமிழ்நாடு, s. The Tamil country. See திராவிடம். 2. The Madura district. Mount Pothiyam, the reputed residence of the sage Agastya, father of the Tamil language. தமிழ்முனி, s. The poet Agastya. தமிழ்மொழியாக்கம், s. The formation of Tamil words. தமிழ்வாணர், s. Tamil poets; (lit.) they in whom classical Tamil lives. தமிழ்வேதம், s. A book of four-thousand parts, நாலாயிரப்பிரபந்தம். 2. The books தே வாரம், and திருவாசகம்; also the குறள், of the poet, திருவள்ளுவர், is so called in eulogy. செந்தமிழ்நாடு, s. The districts where pure Tamil was spoken. See செந்தமிழ். கொடுந்தமிழ்நாடு. s. The twelve districts around the Madura kingdom, in the Tamil of which, irregularities and provincialisms weer found; as stated in the following stanza-தென்பாண்டி, குட்டம், குடம், கற்கா, வேண், பூழி பன்றி, அருவா, அதன்வடக்கு--நன்றாய சீதம், மலாடு, புனனாடு, செந்தமிழ் சேர் ஏதமில் பன்னிரு நாட்டெண். 114)

taṟ (p. 230) [prop. தத்.] A Sanscrit prefix in Tamil, the த் being changed to ற் before க், ச், ப். தற்காலம், s. The exact precise time of an action or occurrence, the expected time, the given time being, நிகழ்காலம். 3. Coincidence in time, அக்காலம். 4. [astron.] A given time for which calculation is made.--Note. This word is often used synonymously with தற்காலசுத்தபுடம், which see. தற்காலகிரகநிலை, s. Planetary positions at a given time. 2. The horoscope at the moment of birth. (A term used in nativities.) தற்காலசுத்தபுடம், s. The true longitude or position of a planet at a fixed time. தற்காலமத்திமம், s. The mean longitude at a given time. தற்காலவிலை, s. The price at the time. தற்காலவிலைப்படிதருவேன். I will give as the price may be at the time. தற்காலிக்க, inf. [in astron.] To determine longitude, &c., for a given time, to make a reduction in the elements of calculation of the time given or sought. தற்சணம்--தச்சணம்--தட்சணம்--த க்ஷணம், s. The very moment, not a moment intervening, உடனே. 2. The present moment, அந்தக்ஷணம். தற்சம்ம, s. Words from the Sanscrit used in Tamil, or any of the other cognate languages, without change--as கமலம், the letters of which are the same in Sanscrit and Tamil, but சக்தி in Tamil, is சக்தி in Sanscrit. (சது.) தற்சமயம், s. The particular juncture, the exact moment required, அச்சமயம். 2. The best opportunity, a special season or juncture, உற்றசமயம். தற்பதம், s. Deity, கடவுள். (சது.) தற்பரம்--தற்பரன், s. Absolute deity independent of agencies, assumed energies or operations; i. e. deity quiescent or the male principle in the deity, கடவுள். 2. Siva, சிவன். தற்பரை, s. The Sakti, or female principle of deity, சத்தி. 2. [in astron.] The thirtieth part of the twinkling of an eye, ஒருமாத்திரையில்முப்பதிலொன்று. தற்பவம், s. Words of Sanscrit origin which have undergone a change in their derivatives, வடமொழியிற்றிரிந்தசொல். 16)

niṟai (p. 277) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To become full, பூரணப்பட. 2. To abound, be copious, plenteous, profuse, மிக. 3. To overflow, be suffused, பெருக. 4. To be satisfied, contented, replenished, saturated, திருத்தியாக. 5. To be or become complete or replete, to be finished, perfected, பரிபூரணமாக. (c.) நிறைந்திருங்கள். Be still, be silent, spoken when some important thing is done auspiciously. நிறைகரகம், s. A vessel filled with water and carried on the head in a dance in honor of Máriammai and other female deities. நிறைகர்ப்பம், s. Advanced pregnancy. நிறைகர்ப்பிணி, s. A woman near the time of her delivery. நிறைகலை, s. [com. பூரணகலை.] Fulness, entireness, completion of the parts, பூர ணாமிசம். 2. Splendor as fancied in the face of an idol, from a supposed divine afflatus, பூரணதேயசு. 3. The full moon, பூரணசந்திரன். 4. The manifestation of a deity in full glory, முழுக்காட்சி. 5. Poissession of an oracle by a deity or demon, பூரணசத்தி. 6. (fig.) Being intoxicated, top heavy, முழுவெறி. நிறைகன்றுத்தாய்ச்சி, s. [prov.] A cow with calf. நிறைகுடம், s. A full pot of water, as used in ceremonies and on festive occasions, adorned with a cocoanut, mango leaves, grain, &c., as an auspicious sight, &c., also one of the ensigns of royalty. See குடம். நிறைசபை--நிறைந்தசபை, s. A full meeting, council or court. நிறைசன்னி, s. A full fit of apoplexy. மூடுசன்னி. நிறைசூல், s. Full pregnancy, commonly applied to cattle. 2. (p.) Teeming with buds, ready to blossom or bear --as trees, &c. நிறைசெல்வம், s. Adundant wealth, independent opulence. நிறைசெல்வன், s. Kuvera, god of wealth, குபேரன். நிறைநரம்பு, s. Being full-stringed, as a lute with ten strings; as நிறைநரம்புள்ள வீணை. நிறைநாழி, s. Full measure of the நாழி. நிறைநாழிவைத்தல், v. noun. Placing a measure full of paddy at a marriage, funeral, &c., deemed auspicious, ஓர்சடங்கு. நிறைந்தகுணம்--நிறைந்தமனம், s. A satisfied, contented mind. 2. A cheerfull disposition. நிறைந்தமனிதன், s. A man of noble mind. 2. A perfect man. நிறைந்திருக்க, inf. To be full, complete. 2. To be still, silent, &c., as a company. நிறைந்தவீடு, s. A marriage-house, an auspicious term. நிறைபயிர், s. Thick corn, அடர்ந்தப யிர். நிறைபாரம், s. [improp. நிறைவாரம்.] A heavy load, கனத்தசுமை. 2. Being fully adorned with jewels, &c., அணிகலத்தின்மி குதி. 3. [in contempt.] Eating to the full, மட்டின்றிச்சாப்பிடல். 4. Being loaded with fruit as a tree, பழமிகுதி. நிறைபானை, s. A full jar. நிறைபிள்ளைத்தாய்ச்சி, s. A woman in advanced pregnancy. நிறைபூசல், s. [com. பன்னீர் which see.] Rose water, or other liquid perfumery, also serum and water of the amnion. பனிப்பகை, s. The sun, as the foe or dispeller of dew or fog, சூரியன். பனிப்படலம், s. A thick embankment, or expanse of fog. பனிப்பயறு, s. A kind of pulse. See பயறு. பனிப்பருவம், s. They dewy season former and latter. See பருவம். பனிப்புகார், s. A. mist of dew, haze or fog. பனிப்புழு, s. Small grub, caterpillar, blight in vegetation in the dewy season. 2. A very small worm causing itching between the toes in the dewy season, சேற்றுப்புழு. பனிப்பூங்காரம், s. Mist or fog when the sun shines. பனிப்பூடு, s. A kind of herb. பனிப்பெயர்தல், v. noun. Dew going to fall. பனிப்பெய்தல், Dew falling. பனிப்பெய்துகுளம்நிரம்புமா. Will a tank be filled by the falling of the dew? பனிமலை, s. The Hymalaya range of mountains, as covered with snow, இம கிரி. (சது.) பனிமூடுதல், v. noun. Over-spreading of fog, &c. பனிமேகம், s. A light cloud in the dewy season, not portending rain, வெண் மேகம். பனிமேய்ச்சல், v. noun.
