Five simple metals are given in the native lexicons--gold, silver, copper, iron, and lead or tin, பஞ்சலோகம். Wils. p. 725. LOHA. To these are sometimes added two mixed metals--as வெண்கலம், a mixture of copper and tin, making bell-metal, &c., and தரா, a compound of copper and zinc, or pinchbeck, &c. உலோகக்கட்டி, s. A mass of metal composed of the five kinds in equal proportions, பஞ்சலோகக்கட்டி. (நிக.) உலோகதாது, s. A kind of arsenic, துத்தபாஷாணம். உலோகபற்பம், s. Difference, or variety of worlds--one of the six kinds of பேதம்; which see. உலோகமணல், s. Iron-sand. உலோகமலை, s. A mountain of iron or metals. உலோகரட்சகன், s. A preserver or protector of the world, உலகத்தைக்காப்ப வன். 2. An appellative of Vishnu--as preserver, விட்டுணு. உலோகராட்டு, s. The Sovereign of the world; i. e. God, கடவுள். உலோகரூடம், s. Custom or fashion of the world, உலகவழக்கம். உலோகாதியந்தம், s. The beginning and end of the world. உலோகாதீதம், s. That which transcends the world, which is supermundane. உலோகார்த்தம், s. Secular advantages, இலௌகீகநயம். 2. Benefit to the world, public good, உலகத்தாருக்குவரு நயம். உலோகோத்தரம், s. Excellence, elegance, that which is liked by every one. உலோகோயம், s. ūḷai (p. 71) s. [vul.] A howl, the howling of a dog, jackal; or the cry of a sheep when diseased; and applied contemptuously to the cry of a person in anguish, or possessed, or supplicating aid, நரிமுதலியவற்றினழு கைக்குரல். 2. Snot, mucus of the nose, சளி. 3. Filthiness, ஊத்தை. ஊளைமூக்கன், s. A snotty fellow. ஊளையிட, inf. To howl. ஊளன், s. A jackal, a fox, நரி. 2. A male fox, ஆண்நரி. (பிங்க.) (p.) 8)

ūẕ (p. 71) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To grow old, decay, முதிர. 2. To wither, fade--as flowers, &c., வாட. 3. To decay-as flesh, fruits; to become putrid, to be spoiled, to rot, moulder, பதனழிய. 4. (p.) To bloom, blossom, or expand--as a flower, to be fresh, fair, beautiful, மலர. 5. To think of, to reflect on, நினைக்க. ஊழ்த்தகொழுந்தாமரை. The full lotus which withered. (பிள்ளைத்.) இண்ரூழ்த்துநாறாமலரணையர்கற்றதுணரவிரித்துரையா தார். Men do not adorn themselves with scentless flowers though they bloom, nor do they honor the learned who have not the power to set forth their acquirements. (குறள்.) ஊழ்த்தல், v. noun. Decaying, putrefying, being spoiled, பதனழிவு. 2. Consideration, சிந்திப்பு. 5)

uccāṭaṉam (p. 59) s. Expelling a demon from a person or place, exorcism--one of the eight magical arts, அகற்றுகை. 2. Exciting a demon to injure or destroy some one by magical incantations, uprooting, பேய்முதலியவைகளையேவுகை. (See கருமம்.) Wils. p. 137. UCHCHADANA. 3. ulvu (p. 66) கிறேன், உலவினேன், வேன், உலவ, v. n. To be modest, reluctant, sparing, parsimonious, கூசிக்குறைக்க 2. [a contraction of உலாவு.] To move about, walk, or ride about for recreation, or exercise. உலவலீரெனவோதுகின்றார்சிலர். Some said, Don't be afraid to eat. (ஸ்காந்.) உலவாவுலவாருமோதம். Waves which undulate without cessation. (அலங்காரம்.) உலவைவைகலுமூசலினீர்மையார். Their daily going and coming resembles the vibrations of a swing. 9)

ūẕi (p. 71) s. The periodical termination of a great age, or the time of the universal deluge and destruction of all things, the end of the world, உகமுடிவு. 2. A very long time, நெடுங்காலம். 3. (p.) Lifetime, உறைகாலம். 4. The earth, பூமி. ஊழிபெயரினுங்கலங்காருரவோர். Though the world should come to an end, the sages will not deviate from their purposes. ஊழியுள்ளளவும். Through all eternity, lit. to the end of an age. உனக்கூழிவர. may you die--an imprecation. நீடுழிவாழ்க. May you live long. ஊழிகாலம், s. A very long time, ages without number, நெடுங்காலம். (சத. 2.) ஊழிக்காய்ச்சல், s. An epidemic fever, or pestilence supposed to be produced by a malignant demon, தொத்து சுரம். ஊழிக்காற்று, s. A destructive wind that prevails at the end of the world, யுகமுடிவிலுண்டாகுங்காற்று. 2. A demon, or bad vapor that causes epidemic diseases, pestilence, &c., விஷக்காற்று. ஊழித்தீ, s. The deluge, or submarine fire, usually described as a mare dwelling in the sea and breathing fire, by which, at the end of every quadruple age, the fire is consumed, வட வைத்தீ. ஊழிநீர், s. The water which prevails at the last deluge, described as rain poured down from the seven species of clouds united, also as the water of the circumfluent sea, உலகமுடிவிலுண்டாகுஞ்ச லப்பிரளயம். ஊழிநோய், s. A pestilence induced by a malignant demon, தொத்து வியாதி. ஊழியூழிகாலம், s. From age to age, eternity. 2)

uvṭṭu (p. 66) கிறேன், உவட்டினேன், வேன், உவட்ட, v. n. To nauseate, loathe, வெறுக்க. 2. To overflow, pour forth--as a water-fall, fountain, &c., to flow--as the head of the tide, பிரவாகிக்க. 3. To rise-as the surf, பெருக்கெடுக்க. உவட்டியுந்திடுதிரைப்புனல். The overflowing rushing wave. (ஸ்காந்.) நெஞ்சையுவட்ட, inf. To feel nausca, to loathe, to be sea-sick. உவட்டு, v. noun. Nausea, குமட் டுகை. 2. Increasing, flowing out--as from a fountain, பெருக்கு. உவட்டெடுத்தொழுகும். (The Ganges) swells and flows on ward. 65)
