The low, mean, destitute, the poor, தரித்திரர். எளிதரவு, [impr. for. எளிவரல்.] Indigence, poverty, despicableness, cringing, தரித்திரம். 2. Lowness, humility, தாழ்மை. எளிது, s. [impr. எளிசு.] Being easy of execution, acquisition, &c., இலேசு. எளிதானகாரியம், s. A trifling thing, a trivial affair, a thing easily understood. எளியகுடி, s. Poor, destitute inhabitants. 2. A family low in rank. எளியகொடை, s. Unworthy gifts, presents unsuitable to the persons to whom they are made. எளியது, s. That which is despicable, low trifling, &c., எளிமையானது. எளியவன்--எளியன், s. A man of low caste, a person poor, destitute, mean, &c. எளியவன்பெண்டாட்டியெல்லாருக்கும்மைத்துன ச்சி. The wife of a poor man is free of access to every body. எளியாரைவலியார்கேட்பின் வலியாரைத்தெய்வங் கேட்கும். If the powerful oppress the weak, the deity will require it of them. எளியவிலை, s. Low price. எளியவேலை, s. Low, menial work. கைக்கெளியது, s. That which is portable, small, easily carried, stolen, secreted, managed, as a child, &c. தாளையேதரமறிகிலாதெமக்கெளிதருசிவப்பிரகாசன். eri (p. 73) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To burn, consume by fire, scorch, எரியச்செய்ய. 2. To keep (a lamp) burning, விளக்கெரிக்க. 3. To cause digestion by extraordinary means--as by incantations, medicines, சீரணிப்பிக்க. 4. To sublimate, calcine metals, reduce to powder by fire for medicines, மருந்தெரிக்க. தான்தின்றநஞ்சுதன்னையெரிக்கும். The poison he takes will consume himself; i. e. evil deeds bring their own retribution. எரிதைலம், s. Medicinal oil prepared by burning, காய்ச்சியதைலம். He was musing and perplexed with many thoughts. உனக்குநாசகாலத்தையெண்ணியிருக்கிறார்கள். They are meditating thy destruction. இதையொருகுற்றமாயெண்ணுவார்களா. Will they regard this as a fault? எண்ணப்பட, inf. To be counted, reckoned. 2. To be esteemed, respected. எண்ணத்தொலையாதது--எண்ணப் படாதது, appel. n. That which cannot be counted. எண்ணாதகண்டன்--எண்ணாதநெஞ் சன், s. A very bold man, destitute of fear; a rash, or heedless man. எண்ணாதவன், s. A reckless person, a desperate man. பாவபுண்ணியங்களையெண்ணாதவன். One who has no regard either for virtue or vice. எண்ணாமற்பேச, inf. To speak without due regard to rank, station, &c., மதியாமற்பேச. 2. To speak without thought, யோசியாமற்பேச. எண்ணார், s. Enemies, பகைவர். (p.) எண்ணிப்பார்க்க, inf. To count, number. 2. To consider maturely, deliberate, to weigh in the mind. எண்ணிப்பேச, inf. To speak considerately or deliberately. எண்பட, inf. [prov.] To be discovered, to be caught, to be found out, அகப்பட. எண்ணல், v. noun. Calculation, reckoning, கணக்குச்செய்தல். 2. Astronomical calculation, கணித்தல். 3. Counting with the fingers in astronomical calculations, &c. See கைத்தொழில். எண்ணலர், s. Foes, enemies, பகைவர். (p.) எண்ணலளவை, s. Computation. எண்ணலளவையாகுபெயர், s. One of the four kinds of அளவையாகுபெயர், according to which a number is put for the thing numbered--as காலாலேநடந்தான், he walked on one-fourth (of his length); i. e. his leg, which is so called because it bears that proportion to individual stature. எண்ணிக்கை, v. noun. Regard, esteem, honor, estimation, reverence, மதிப்பு. 2. Number, numbering, கணிப்பு. --Note. This word is irregular in its formation. எண்ணிக்கைக்குப்பிறந்தபிள்ளைகள். Children who seem born only to make up a number, being of no estimation. எண்ணிக்கைக்குள்ளடங்காதது. That which is innumerable. சேவகரையெண்ணிக்கைசெய்கிறது. To muster soldiers. எண்ணிக்கைகொடுக்க, inf. eẕutu (p. 75) கிறேன், எழுதினேன், வேன், எழுத, v. a. To write, paint, draw, mark, stain, trace (letters, &c.), inscribe, வரைய. 2. To foreordain, to predestine. This verb is soused from the notion that each one's fate is written by Brahma in the skull, தலையிலெழுத. 3. To write composition, draw up in writing, வசனாதிகளெழுத. 4. To engrave, சித்திரமெழுத. எழுதக்கைதிரும்பவில்லை. The hand is not yet trained. எட்கிடைநெற்கிடைவிட்டெழுத. To write leaving the space of a sesamum seed between the letters, and of a grain of rice between the lines--the order to be observed in writing. எழுதாக்கிளவி--எழுதாமறை, s. The vedas, lit. unwritten works--an appellation adopted with reference to their meaning being handed down by oral explanation and not written, or to the accent, pronunciation, &c., which cannot be written, வேதம். எழுதிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To grant by writing, write and deliver as a voucher. 2. To betroth a girl by written contract. 3. To write for another, draw up a document. 4. To write lessons for a learner. 5. To give a list, inventory, &c. எழுதிக்கொள்ள, inf. To write a letter, petition, &c., to a great person; to write for one's self. 2. To enrol. 3. To write and deliver vouchers reciprocally. எழுதிச்சேர்க்க, inf. To register, file a writing as a notary public. எழுதிவைக்க, inf. To recount,register, write and keep for a memorandum, &c., to write and leave behind for the use of others. எழுதினஉடன்படிக்கை--எழுதின வொப்பாசாரம், s. Written contract. எழுதுகோல், s. A writing reed, எழுதுங்கோல். 2. A painter's brush or pencil, தூரியக்கோல். எழுதுபடம், s. A picture, கிழி. மேற்பாடம்பார்த்தெழுதுதல், v. noun. Copying from a written book. பெயர்த்தெழுத, inf. To copy, to transcribe. குறிப்பெழுத, inf. To note down the time, &c. of the birth of a child. திருத்தமாயெழுத, inf. To write correctly. சரமகவியெழுத, inf. [prov.] To write a stanza, commemorative of the death of an ancestor, or other near relative, mentioning the day, hour, &c. of the moon, as a memorandum for ascertaining the time to perform the annual funeral rites. மறுமொழியெழுத--பதிலெழுத, inf. To write an answer. பருக்கவெழுத, inf. To write in large characters. கைபடியவெழுத, inf. To practise writing, train the hand in writing. 14)

ellām (p. 74) s. All, the whole, every, முழுதும். Like other universal terms, this admits உம், which however is often omitted, when the word is not used as a prefix; when it occupies the place of an adjective, its ம் is lost, and உம் is added to the word which it qualifies.--Note. In classical usage எல்லாம் takes அற்று as its declining particle--as மரமெல்லாவற்றையுங்கண்டான், he has seen all the trees. எல்லாத்திசைகளும். The whole horizon. எல்லாநம்மையும். All of us. எல்லீர்நும்மையும். All of you. எல்லாப்பூமியும்--பூமியெல்லாம். All the land, the whole of the land. 2. The whole earth. எல்லாரும்--எல்லோரும். All persons, அனை வரும். எல்லாரையும்--எல்லார்தம்மையும். All of them. எல்லோமும். We all, all of us, நாமெல்லாம். நீங்ககெல்லாரும். Impr. for நீவிரெல்லாரும். அவர்களெல்லாரும். All of them.--Note. The superlative being unknown in Tamil, the comparative is employed, as in the following and similar instances. The universality of the term gives it a superlative meaning. எல்லாரிலுமேலானவர். The greatest of all. 2. The most high. அதுஎல்லாவற்றிலும்மேலானது. It is the highest of all. 8)
