kuṟai (p. 132) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To diminish, decrease, lessen, abate, wane, shorten, dwindle, decline, சிறுக. 2. To be reduced in numbers, value, circumstances; to be lowered in rank, estimation, கெட. 3. To be wanting, to prove insufficient, to lack, to be short in weight, measure, number, &c., to be scanty, எஞ்ச. 4. To be imperfect, incomplete, unfinished, defective, deficient, ஈனமாக. 5. [in gram.] To be cut off, dropped, omitted, suppressed, &c., சொற்குறைந்துவர. 6. To be scarce, dear, difficult of attainment, அருமையாயிருக்க. குறைய, inf. To be insufficient, to be wanting. ஏறக்குறைய, [adverbially.] Nearly, almost, about. நடைகுறைந்துபோயிற்று. He now cannot walk much. 2. His influence is reduced. 3. The speed is reduced--as of horses, cattle, &c. குறைந்தவிலை, s. A dear bargain; a high price. 2. A reduced price, a low price. குறைந்தமரக்கால், s. A scant measure. வயிறுகுறைய, inf. To be unsatisfied --as hunger. குறைச்சல், v. noun. [vul. for. குறைதல்.] Defficiency, dearness, poverty, displeasure, complaint, &c. குறைச்சலல்ல. It is not dear. குறைச்சலாய்க்கிடக்க, inf. To be dear, scarce, &c. குறைச்சலாய்ப்பேச, inf. To speak ill of one. செய்கைக்குறைச்சல், s. Misbehavior, misconduct. மனக்குறைச்சல், s. Dissatisfaction, displeasure; grievance. குறைவு, v. noun. Lack, deficiency, dearness, want, scarcity. 2. Indigency, necessity, poverty, தரித்திரம். குறைவறுக்க, inf. To make up a deficiency, to supply wants, to meet exigencies, &c. குறைவானது.
