Anointing an idol with the fragrant sandal paste. சந்தனக்கிண்ணம்--சந்தனக்கும்பா, s. A brass or silver cup, for sandal perfume. சந்தனக்குடம், s. [prov.] A pot of sandal paste, as carried in the religious processions of some Mussulmen. சந்தனக்குழம்பு--சந்தனச்சேறு, s. Macerated sandal. சந்தனக்குறடு, s. A cubical or parallellopiped piece of sandal wood on which are marked the four numbers. 3, 12, 1, 1, one on each side. this is thrown and the number which turns up is looked for in a book. சந்தனக்கூட்டு, v. noun. [prov.] Perfumery ground with sandal. சந்தனஞ்சாத்த, inf. To anoint an idol, a great person, &c., with sandal. சந்தனத்தயிலம், s. Sandal oil. சந்தனத்திரி, s. [prov.] A wick or ஈர்க்கு, coated with sandal or other perfumed paste, for diffusing odour while burning. சந்தனத்திரணை, s. A lump of sandal paste, commonly offered to an idol. சந்தனத்தூள்--சந்தனப்பொடி, s. Sandal wood powder. சந்தனப்பொட்டு, s. A spot of sandal paste--as worn on the forehead. சந்தனமிழைக்க--சந்தனமுரைக்க, inf. To triturate sandal. சந்தனம்பூச, inf. To anoint one's self with sandal. சந்தனவில்லை, s. A small cake of perfumery, impregnated with sandal essence. சந்தனக்கோரை, s. [prov.] A kind of grass, ஓர்புல். சந்தனாதி, s. [prov.] Sandal and other perfumes. 2. A fragrant oil. சந்தனாதித்தயிலம்--சந்தனாதியெண்ணெ ய், s. Medicinal and fragrant oil in which sandal is the chief ingredient. சந்தனாதியுண்டை, s. A medicinal pill, of which sandal paste forms the principal constituent. சந்தனாசலம், s. The பொதியம் or Malaya mountain, called the sandal mountain from its superior sandal trees; [ex அசலம், mountain. A member, a component part,--as distinguished from முதல் உறுப்பு. 7. Bambu, மூங்கில். (சது.) 8. One of the six sources, பொதுவிடம், from which nouns are formed, பொருளாதியாறனுளொன்று.--Note. This word is in the first two meanings commonly applied to animals only. கெடாதஇடையன் சினையாட்டைக்காட்டினசம்பந் தம். As a shepherd, giving nothing, shows a ewe big with young; i. e. the illiberal make many promises. சினைகொள்ள, inf. To form--as flower buds. 2. To become impregnated--as animals. சினைப்பசு--சினைமாடு, s. A cow with young. சினைப்பட, inf. To be with young-spoken of animals. சினைப்பருவம், s. Ears forming inside the stalk, of growing grain. சினைப்பெயர், s. Names or nouns denoting parts or members of the body. 2. Names derived from such nouns. சினைமீன், s. A fish with spawn. சினையாக்க, inf. To impregnate. 2. (fig.) To cause excessive trouble, to annoy, தொந்தரவுகொடுக்க. சினைவினை, s. Verbs expressing the actions, motion, condition, &c., of the members or component parts of a body --as கால்முறிந்தது, the leg is broken, here, முறிதல் is a சினைவினை--opposed to முதல் வினை. 89)
