civ (p. 187) க்கிறது, ந்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. (etymological'y செவ.) To redden, blush, to be red, to be streaked or tinged with red, செவக்க. 2. To become angry, to redden, as the eyes by anger, உக்கிரங் கொள்ள.--Note. Where redness comes on of itself, சிவத்தது is used in the past tense; where art is used, or the thing is red by birth, or origin, சிவந்தது is common; but in the latter it is sometimes optional; சிவந்தது may sometimes indicate the deeper color.--Note. 2. The participle in the latter form (as also in கறுத்தல்.) requires reduplication before hard letters. சிவத்தமுகம், s. A red face by nature. சிவத்தவுடம்பு, s. A copper colored person. (lit.) a red body. சிவந்தகல், s. A red gem, a ruby or other reddish stone. சிவந்தகுளிகை, s. Red pills given in fevers, சிந்தூரக்குளிகை. சிவந்தசோறு, s. [prov.] Rice made reddish by being burnt in boiling. சிவந்ததானியம், s. Reddish kind of grain. சிவந்ததோல், s. A fair, red skin. சிவந்தநாயுருவி, s. [com. செந்நாயுருவி.] A species of நாயுருவி, which see. சிவந்தபழம், s. A red fruit, a reddening fruit. Compare செம்பழம். சிவந்தபூமி, s. Red soil, செங்காடு. சிவந்தமேனி, s. A red body--commonly used for persons and fruits. சிவந்தவாய், s. A mouth with red lips. சிவந்தராசி, s. [prov.] Any thing red --generally used for ripe fruits. (c.) சிவந்தவேசை, s. The செம்பரத்தை shrub, shoe-flower; [ex சிவந்த--செம், et வேசை--பரத்தை.] (M. Dic.) சிவந்தவுடை, s. Red vestments as worn by some of the gods. (p.) கண்சிவக்க, inf. To redden--as the eyes through anger or disease. சிவப்பு, v. noun. Ruddiness, redness in all its variety of shades from brown. yellow, or chocolate to a bright scarlet. செந்நிறம். 2. Redness of eyes, blush of countenance, &c., as signs of anger, சினக் குறிப்பு. சிவப்பம்மான்பச்சரிசி--செவ்வம்மான் பச்சரிசி s. A plant. See அம்மான்பச்சரிசி. சிவப்பாமணக்கு--செவ்வாமணக்கு, s. A red kind of ஆமணக்கு, which see. சிவப்பவரை, s. A red kind of bean. See செவ்வவரை. சிவப்பானவெள்ளைச்சி, s. A kind of ore, புற்றாம்பழம். (R.) சிவப்பன், s. A person of a reddish, florid, fair complexion. (Rare.) சிவப்பி, s. [com. செகப்பி.] A woman of light complexion. 2. [prov.] A reddish cocoanut or its tree, சிவப்புத்தேங்காய். சிவப்புக்கந்தி, s. A kind of native arsenic, கோழித்தலைக்கந்தகம். (R.) சிவப்புக்கல், s. A red stone, one of the hundred and twenty kinds of ore, ஈரற்கல். சிவப்புப்பொடி, s. A red gem of a smaller species. (c.) சிவப்புச்சோளம், s. [com. செஞ்சோ ளம்.] The red maize. சிவப்புப்பசளை, s. A plant. See செம்ப சளை. சிவப்போலை, s. Olas tinged red for baskets, mats, &c. சிவப்புக்கரு, s. As if the dog had barked at the moon, i. e., mere chatter to no purpose. சந்திரகணம், s. One of the four auspicious feet with which to begin a poem --consisting of one நிரை and two நேர். See கணம். A kind of mineral gem, the moon-stone, said to emit moisture, when placed in the moon-light; and believed by some to be a congelation of the moon's rays. See சூரியகாந்தம். சந்திரகாந்திப்பூ, s. A sacred water-pot dedicated to the moon. See கும்பம். சந்திராதித்தர்--சந்திரசூரியர், s. The sun and moon. (c.) சந்திராதித்தருள்ளவரைக்கும். As long as the sun and moon exist. சந்திரசூடன்--சந்திரசேகரன், s. Siva, the moon crested. சந்திரதரிசனம், s. The first sight of the New Moon on an auspicious evening.-Note. If the time be not auspicious, the sight is avoided. 2. The ceremony of showing either the crescent or full moon to a child, for the first time, on an auspicious evening. சந்திரப்பிரவை, s.
