curungku (p. 196) கிறது, சுருங்கினது, சுருங்கும், சுருங்க, v. a. To shrink, contract, shrivel, wrinkle, rumple, குறைய. 2. To lesson, decrease, dwindle; to be reduced, compressed, சிறுக. 3. To be gathered, puckered, folded, plaited, குவிய 4. To be abridged, epitomized, shortened, சங்கிரகமாக. 5. To close--as a flower, umbrella, &c., to be furled, to be drawn in--as the rays of the sun, or the limbs of a tortoise, or head of a snake, &c., அடங்க. 6. To be curtailed, or reduced--as expenses, செலவுசுருங்க. 7. To shrink from duty, to be reluctant. மனந் தளர. 8. To fail, be defective, remiss, ஒழுக் கந்தப்ப. 9. To decrease, as a succession of waves, rolling towards the shore, அலைசுருங்க. 1. To be abstracted from earthly objects, as the mind of an ascetic, அவாசுருங்க. 11. cuvr (p. 197) s. [improp. செவர்.] A wall. 2. The shell of the mundane egg surrounding the universe. அண்டச்சுவர்.--Note. There are உட்சுவர், புறச்சுவர், கற்சுவர், கைபி டிசுவர், குட்டிச்சுவர், மண்சுவர், சோற்றாலெடுத்தசு வர், &c., which see severally.--The word sometimes changes to சுவத்து and செவத்து in its compounds. சுவரிருந்தாலல்லோசித்திரமெழுதலாம். If the wall remain you may draw pictures on it; i. e. if your body be in health, you may accomplish much. சுவர்க்கால், s. The bottom of a wall, சுவரருகு. சுவரெறிபந்து, s. To put up a wall, as சுவரெடுக்க. சுவர்த்தலம், s. A wall--as சுவர். சுவர்த்தாங்கி-சுவர்தாங்கி, s. A buttress, அணைசுவர். சுவர்நாகம், s. A kind of venomous serpent, ஓர்பாம்பு. சுவர்ப்பலகை, s. The upright boards of a box, wardrobe, &c. சுவர்மட்டம், s. The level of the wall. சுவர்மாடம், s. A square cavity in the inside wall of a house. சுவர்முள்ளங்கி, s. cūlam (p. 201) s. The trident, as a weapon; the three pronged dart or trident of Siva, ஓராயு தம். 2. An Instrument for impaling, கழு. 3. The spear on the top of a banner, கொடி த்தலைச்சூலம். 4. One of the twenty-seven astrological yogas, இருபத்தேழ்யோகத்தொன்று. W. p. 855. S'OOLA. 5. The twentyseventh or last lunar mansion, இரேவ திநாள். 6. The supposed position of the trident of Siva, at any given time, according to the days of the week; during which it is considered unlucky to set out on a journey in the direction in which it lies, and the reverse, வாரசூலம்--Thus, திங்கள் சனிகிழக்கேசூலம், On Monday and Saturday, to go Eastward; செவ்வாய்புதன் வடக்கேசூலம், Tuesday and wednesday to the North; வெள்ளிஞாயிறுமேற்கேசூலம், Sunday and Friday to the West; வியாழந்தெற்கேசூலம், Thursday to the South, is unlucky. சூலக்குறடு, s. [prov.] An instrument for branding cattle. See சூட்டுக்கோல். சூலக்குறி, s. The trident mark, branded on a temple, cow, ox, or described on a heap of threshes paddy. சூலதரன்-சூலபாணி-சூலபாணியன். s. Siva. 2. Bhairava. W. p. 855. S'OOLAD'HARA. சூலத்திசை, s. [prov.] The point of the compass toward which the trident is supposed to be directed. சூலத்திலேற்ற, inf. [commonly கழு வேற்ற.] To whirl one on the trident, as a mode of punishment for Siva, by Yama; also the sins of souls, and to give them salvation. சூலத்தீவர்த்தி, s. [prov. சூலவிளக்கு.] A lamp with three lights in imitation of a trident; used in temples. சூலவலகு, s. The blade of the trident weapon; [ex அலகு.] சூலாயுதம்--சூலப்படை--சூலவேல், s.
