cūr (p. 200) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், சூர, v. s. [prov. prop. சுகிர.] To pick or prepare cotton, flax, coir, &c., to card, பஞ்சுசூர. 2. To separate tangled hair, மயிர்வகிர. 3. To pluck up as separate stalks of corn, பயிர்வ கிர. 4. (fig.) To abstract property by unfair means, பிறர்பொருளைக்கவர. சூர்ந்தபஞ்சு, s. Picked cotton, பிய்த்த பஞ்சு. சூர்வு, v. noun. Picking, tousing, &c., வகிர்தல்.

cūlam (p. 201) s. The trident, as a weapon; the three pronged dart or trident of Siva, ஓராயு தம். 2. An Instrument for impaling, கழு. 3. The spear on the top of a banner, கொடி த்தலைச்சூலம். 4. The supposed position of the trident of Siva, at any given time, according to the days of the week; during which it is considered unlucky to set out on a journey in the direction in which it lies, and the reverse, வாரசூலம்--Thus, திங்கள் சனிகிழக்கேசூலம், On Monday and Saturday, to go Eastward; செவ்வாய்புதன் வடக்கேசூலம், Tuesday and wednesday to the North; வெள்ளிஞாயிறுமேற்கேசூலம், Sunday and Friday to the West; வியாழந்தெற்கேசூலம், Thursday to the South, is unlucky. சூலக்குறடு, s. [prov.] An instrument for branding cattle. See சூட்டுக்கோல். சூலக்குறி, s. The trident mark, branded on a temple, cow, ox, or described on a heap of threshes paddy. சூலதரன்-சூலபாணி-சூலபாணியன். s. Siva. 2. Bhairava. W. p. 855. S'OOLAD'HARA. சூலத்திசை, s. [prov.] The point of the compass toward which the trident is supposed to be directed. சூலத்திலேற்ற, inf. [commonly கழு வேற்ற.] To whirl one on the trident, as a mode of punishment for Siva, by Yama; also the sins of souls, and to give them salvation. சூலத்தீவர்த்தி, s. [prov. சூலவிளக்கு.] A lamp with three lights in imitation of a trident; used in temples. சூலவலகு, s. The blade of the trident weapon; [ex அலகு.] சூலாயுதம்--சூலப்படை--சூலவேல், s. The trident weapon--as சூலம். சூலம்போட்டுவிட்டஎருது, s. A branded bull, devoted to the temple. 5) *

cuḷku (p. 198) s. A winnowing fan or sieve for separating chaff or bran from grain, flour, &c., முறம். (c.) 2. The sixteenth lunar asterism, விசாகநாள். சுளகாலேகொழிக்க--சுளகாலேநோம்ப, inf. To winnow, separating stones, &c., from the grains. சுளகாலேபுடைக்க. inf. To winnow, or clean grain. சுளகாலேயடிக்க, inf. To strike with a winnowing fan--considered a disgrace. சுளகுமூக்கு, s. The corners of a fan. சுளகுகட்ட, inf. To braid a winnowing fan. 2. [prov.] To make a winnowing fan firm and strong by tying. (c.) சுளகுக்கொழுக்கட்டை, s.
