niṉ (p. 277) [a change of Sa. prefix நிர், before soft letters.] For most of the compounds, see under நிர். நின்மலம், s. Purity, immaculateness. நின்மலாவத்தை, s. [also மேலாலவத் தை.] Certain parts of the body regarded as stations of the soul, seeking deliverance from Malam. They are five-fold: 1. நின்மலச்சாக்கிரம், soul's coming to a full vision; 2. நின்மலசொப்பனம், not being affected by the elements; 3. நின்ம லகழுத்தி, insensibility to sinful desires; 4. நின்மலதுரியம், reaching the region of நீ நீக்குப்போக்கு, s. An opening, interstice or gap; used chiefly in the negative, இடைவெளி. 2. Means, pecuniary ability, வழிவகை. 3. Routine of business, கிரியைக் கிரமம். 4. To happen, to occur, to ensue, to take place as actions, to be exercised as the passions or affections, சம்பவிக்க. 3. To prevail as war, to be rife as discuse, to subsist, as influence, to be progressive, to proceed, or go on, வழங்கிவர. 5. To be in progress as performance or a transaction, நிகழ்ந்துகொண்டிருக்க; (c.) Deportment. நடந்துகொள்ள, inf. To behave well or ill, commenly toward a superior. நடந்துவர, inf. To come walking. 2. To occur at all times. நடந்தேற, inf. To be accomplished, executed, performed, to come walking. 2. To occur at all times. நடந்தேறப்பண்ண, inf. To manage a thng for its success. நடபடி, s. [sometimes நடைபடி.] Act, conduct. நடப்பன, appel. n. (plu.) Those which walk, all moveable things--oppos. to நிற்பன, immoveable objects. (p.) நடக்கை, v. noun. Walk, behaviour, conduct, deportment, manners, செய்கை. 2. Course, career, ஒழுக்கம். (c.) நல்லார்பொல்லாரைநடக்கையாலறியலாம். The good and may be known by their conduct. நடத்தல், v. noun. Walking, behaving, &c. நடப்பு, v. noun. Going and coming, போக்குவரவு. 2. Behaviour, conduct, demeanour, நடக்கை. (c.) 3. [prov.] Influence, prosperity, செல்வாக்கு. 4. (loc.) Taking the badge of marriage from a widow, திருவாங்குகை. அவனவன்நடப்பதுக்குத்தக்கதுநடக்கும். Each one will get the fruit of his doings. நடப்பானகாலம், s. Time of prosperity. நடப்பானவழி, s. A frequented way. (c.) நடப்புக்காரன், s. [prov.] A man of influence or prosperity. 2. A customer. நடவாதகாரியம், s. An unusual thing. 2. An impossibility. (c.) நடவாதநடத்தை, s. Unprecedented conduct, action, folly, &c. 2. Immoral conduct.

Conical pieces in the play of chess or ticklack, சூதாடுகருவி.--Of நாய், there are கடல்நாய், a seal; மரநாய், palmyra dog; நீர்நாய், மீனாய், a beaver; செந்நாய், a wild dog, கோ ணாய் or கோநாய், a wolf, (c.) நாயும்பேயுங்கொண்டுபோகின்றன. Dogs and devils (strangers) carry it away. நாய்க்குமுழுத்தேங்காய்தக்குமா. Of what use to the dog is an unbroken cocoanut? நாய்வேஷம்போட்டால்குலைத்தேதீரவேணும். If one disguise himsel as a dog he should bark. நாயரஞ்சி, s. As நாயுருவி. (R.) நாயாட்டம், Dog-like, mean, servile. நாயீ, s. A dog fly; [ex இ. நாயுணி, s. A kind of tick. நாயும்புலியும், s. A kind of play, with seeds, stones, &c., in squares. நாயுருவி, s. [sometimes நாய்குருவி.] A kind of plant, Achyranthes aspera, L. which forms one of the nine kinds of sacrificial fuel. See சமித்து.-- The root is used as a dentifrice, and from the skin of the root, a decoction is made as an aperient for infants. The leaves are bruised and applied to scorpion bites as a specific; [ex உருவி, penetrating as a biting dog.] There are two kinds, செந் நாயுருவி, the red, and வெண்ணாயுருவி, the white, which see. நாயுறக்கம், s. Very slight sleep, as of a dog. நாயோட்டம், s. A dog's pace, spoken of a horse, dhoney, &c. நாய்குருவி, s. As நாயுருவி. (R.) நாய்க்கடி, s. Bite of a dog. நாய்கடிபூனைக்கடிபடுகிறார்கள்.
