naṭcattiram (p. 268) --நக்ஷத்திரம், s. Star in general, தாரகைப்பொது. 2. Lunar constellations, நாண்மீன், of which there are twentyseven, forming the lunar Zodiac, with an extra mansion, having no stars of its own, but which taking parts of the contiguous asterisms makes the number twenty-eight. The twenty-seven asterisms beginning with Aries are in order, as follows; 1. அசுபதி, or அச்சுவினி. 2. பரணி. 3. கார்த்திகை. 4. உரோகிணி. 5. மிருகசீரிடம், or மிருகசீர்ஷம். 6. ஆதிரை, or திருவாதிரை. 7. புநர்பூசம். 8. பூசம். 9. ஆயிலியம். 1. மகம். 11. பூரம். 12. உத்திரம். 13. அஸ்தம் or அத்தம். 14. சித்திரை. 15. சுவாதி or சோதி. 16. விசாகம். 17. அனுடம் or அனுஷம். 18. கேட்டை. 19. மூலம். 2. பூராடம். 21. உத்திராடம். 22. திருவோணம். 23. அவிட்டம். 24. சதயம். 25. பூரட்டாதி. 26. உத்திரட்டாதி. 27. இரேவதி. Each asterism consists of thirteen degrees and twenty minutes of the Zodiac. There is a particular star in each called யோகம் which serves as an index to the mansion. நட்சத்திரசக்கரம், s.
