pātakam (p. 310) s. [poet. பதகம்.] A grievous sin, a heinous crime, துரோகம். W. p. 524. PATAKA. Note. For the five பாதகம், or heinous sins, see பஞ்சபாதகம். Another classification is seven-fold, as given in சதுர கராதி, being apparently the venial sins of the Romanists; சித்தசமுன்னதி, or அகங்காரம், pride; 2.அருத்தலோபம், or உலோபம், avarice; 3. காமம், lust, lasciviousness; 4. வைஷம்மியம் or பகை, hatred, enmity; 5. அசனப்பிரியம், போசனப்பிரியம், gluttony; 6. கோபம் or காய்தல், anger, malice; 7.அனுஷ்டணம் or சோம்பல், idleness, laziness. பாதகத்துரோகி, s. A perfidious villain, an infamous wretch, கொடும்பாவி. பாதகன், s. [plu. பாதகர், fem. பாதகத்தி, பாதகி.] A vile, desperate sinner, துரோகி. பாதகன்முகத்திலேவிழிக்கப்படாது. prppu (p. 297) கிறேன், பரப்பினேன், வேன், ப ரப்ப, v. a. To spread, to lay out, as goods, பொருள்பரப்ப. 2. To distend the legs in sitting, to expand the wings, &c., விரிக்க. 3. To disseminate, propagate opinions, or reports, to diffuse rays, odors, &c., to over-spread, with clouds or darkness, பரவச் செய்ய. 4. To people, to furnish with inhabitants, to stock with creatures, விருத்தி செய்ய. 5. To place confusedly as books on a table, ஒழுங்கின்றிவைக்க.--The compounds in most common use are, கடைபரப்புதல், exposing goods in a bazaar; ஓடுபரப்புதல், tiling a house; கீர்த்திபரப்புதல், spreading one's fame; மணற்பரப்புதல், spreading sand. ஏன்எல்லாம்பரப்பிக்கிடக்கிறது. Litter for a horse, or other beast; sleeping place or bed of a wild beast, a lair, விலங்கின்படுக்கை. 4. Straw, olas, boards, &c., placed in a boat to preserve goods from the bilge-water, வள்ளத்தின்அடியில்பரப்பும்புல். 5. Olas, or straw laid down as a bed on which to place reaped corn, tobacco, palmyra fruit, earthen ware, &c., நெற்படுக்கைமுத லியன. (c.) படுக்கைபோடுதல், v. noun. Preparing a bed, putting litter for a horse, &c. படுக்கைவீடு--படுக்கையறை, s. A sleeping room, a bedchamber. படுக்கைமரம், s. Boards laid loosely in a boat, under the cargo. படுக்கைவிரித்தல், v. noun. Spreading open, or unfolding, a bed or mattress. படுத்தபாய், s. The mat on which one has lain. படுத்தபூமி--படுத்ததரை, s. Levelled earth. படுத்தலோசை, s. [in gram.] Cadence, the grave accent. 98)
