pāy (p. 311) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், பாய. To spring, to leap, as grass-hoppers; to bound, to jump, to gallop, to prance, to pitch, to plunge, to flounder, குதிக்க. 2. To move suddenly, to spring--as the needle attracted by the loadstone, தாவ. 3. To flow, to issue or gush out, as blood, &c., to stream, to rush down--as mountain streams; to ooze out, in drops, to flow gently, as milk or sap, நீர்முதலியபாய. 4. To settle or fasten on--as the sight, the mind, the imagination, வரவ. 5. To glide along, to beam forth, as light, கதிர் விரிய. 6. To sally forth, to shoot forward, to just out, புறப்பட. 7. To fly, to dart, to flit across, to plunge into, to penetrate --as a missile- weapon, a nail, or thorn, உருவ. 8. To flow and spread as water, darkness, light, &c., to extend, or diffuse itself, பாவ. 9. (fig.) To migrate, to elope, ஓட. 1. To butt, to spring at, to pounce on, to attack, மூட்ட (c.) தோட்டத்துக்குத்தண்ணீர்பாய்ந்தது. The garden is watered. பாய்ந்துபிடிக்க, inf. To spring up and catch. 2. To be drawn and adhere --as the needle to the magnet. 3. To light on, to grasp, as the mind. பாய்ந்துவிட, inf. To flow abroad, as water in irrigation. 2. To elope, to migrate. பாய்ந்துவிழ, inf. To fall upon, as a tiger or a serpent. 2. To attack with abuse, harsh language; to accost roughly. பாய்ந்தேற, inf. To spring and mount a horse or carriage; to spring up and climb a tree; to jump on, and cling to, as a child. 2. To fly and penetrate, as an arrow. பாய்மா, s. A leaping animal, as a horse, குதிரை. 2.
