iṇai (p. 45) s. Union, conjunction, communion, fellowship, இசைவு. 2. Comparison, parallel, similitude, resemblance, ஒப்பு. 3. (p.) Two things of a kind, a pair, couple, brace, துணை. 4. A companion, associate, partner, escort, protector, துணைவன். 5. Desire, இச்சை. 6. Women's hair, கூந்தல். இணையினெஞ்சமே. O! mind, debased beyond comparison. (வைராக்.) இறைகழலிணைமேவியவிமலர். Holy men who unite themselves to the feet of the Supreme Being. இணைக்கயல், s. A couple of carpfish, figures of which in gold, silver, &c., form one of the eight auspicious articles placed on special occasions as good omens, also as pleasing to the gods, அட் டமங்கலத்தொன்று. 2. One of the emblems of royalty, அரசசின்னத்தொன்று. இணைக்கல்லை, s. Two leaf-plates --as set before a religious mendicant or pandarum, while feeding him. இணைக்குப்போக, inf. [prop. இணை யாகப்போக.] To walk with another, to walk abreast. இணைக்குறளாசிரியப்பா, s. A kind of ஆசிரியப்பா, some of whose middle lines are shorter than the first or last line. இணைமணிமாலை, s. A poem consisting either of the kind of verses called வெண்பா and அகவல், or வெண்பா and கலித்துறை, in hundred verses and composed in accordance with the rule of அந்தாதி--one of the பிரபந்தம். இணைமுரண்டொடை, s. [in poetry.] A kind of ryhme where the first two feet in a line are opposed to each other either in word or meaning, ஓர்தொடை-as சீறடிப்பேரகலல்குல். இணைமோனைத்தொடை, s. A species of rhyme in which the first letters of each of the first two feet are the same. See தொடை. இணையசை, s. A compound metrical syllable, நிரையசை. இணையடி or கழலிணை, s. The two feet. இணையடிசூட, inf. To adorn, crown one's self with the feet (of the deity or guru) regarding them as flowers.--Note. To place the feet of another on one's head, is a figurative form for expressing great reverence, devotedness, respect, &c. இணையளபெடைத்தொடை, s. A verse in which the first letter of the first two feet is protracted. இணையிட்டுப்பார்க்க, inf. To compare one thing with another. இணையியைபுத்தொடை, s. The repetition of the same letter in the last two feet of any line. See தொடை. இணையெதுகைத்தொடை, s. [in poetry.] The rhyming of the second letters of the first two feet in each line. இணையெழுத்து, s. iṉmai (p. 57) s. Destitution, absence of a quality or thing, non-existence, extinction, absolute negation, nothingness, இல்லாமை. 2. Poverty, adversity, வறுமை; [ex இல், not.] உட்களவின்மையினால். Because it is free from guile. (வைராக்கியசதகம்-v. 13.) 57)

iṟumā (p. 57) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To be overjoyed, enraptured with spiritual delight, மிகமகிழ. 2. To be proud, self-conceited, vain, to be elated, puffed up, to exult in a feeling of self-importance, ஏமாக்க. 3. To sit erect, be erect, நிமிர்ந்திருக்க. என்றும்வீடடைந்தவரிறுமாப்ப. While those in bliss enjoy eternal delight. (வைராக்கியசதகம்.) இறுமாந்துநடக்க, inf. To walk or behave proudly. இறுமாந்துநிற்க, inf. To stand erectly or proudly. இறுமாந்துபோக, inf. To be overjoyed from a slight cause, to be conceited. இறுமாப்பு, v. noun. Transport, rapture, spiritual joy, மிகுமகிழ்ச்சி. 2. Pride, self-conceit, arrogance, vainglory, vanity, elation, ஏமாப்பு. 3. Erect posture, நிமிர்ச்சி. இறுமாப்புக்கொள்ள, inf. To be come transported, over-joyed, proud, haughty, to grow arrogant. 27)

oṉṟu (p. 84) கிறேன், ஒன்றினேன், வேன், ஒன்ற. v. n. To unite, coalesce, knit or grow together--as broken parts, two trees, &c.; to become one, to join, combine, இணைய. 2. To be engaged, be intent, &c. on an object, ஒன்றுபட. 3. To agree, suit, be agreeable, பொருந்த. 4. To copulate, புணர. ஒன்றவில்லை. It is not convenient. 2. They are not fit. 3. (They) (the things or parts) are not united, not joined well, &c. தேகத்தொன்றுநோய். Disease which befalls the body. (வைராக்கிய.) ஊழொன்றியிருப்பின். If destiny favor-ஒன்றப்பார்க்க, inf. To unite severed parts--as a magician by looking at them, lit. to look them into one, பொ ருந்தப்பார்க்க. 2. To join things to see if they fit or agree--as machinery, இசைக்க. ஒன்றாதவஞ்சித்தளை, s. See தளை. ஒன்றார்--ஒன்னாதார்--ஒன்னார், s. Foes, unfriendly persons. (p.) ஒன்றுகுடி, s. A family or person living in another's house, garden, &c. See ஒட்டுக்குடி and ஒதுக்குக்குடி. ஒன்றுகூட்டு, s. Concord, harmony, living on terms of friendship, ஒரு கூட்டு. ஒன்றுகூட்டாயிருக்க, inf. To be closely united, be in harmony, &c. ஒன்றுநர், s. Friends, relations, ந ண்பர். (p.) ஓ. The eleventh vowel, ஓகாரம். 2. A particle, இடைச்சொல். It has various uses; in நன்னூல், eight different meanings are given to it. (a) ஒழியிசை, a mark of ellipsis denoting the omission of a counter-part to what is expressed--as கொள லோகொண்டான், true he has obtained his object (but he will not prosper by it). (b) வினா, interrogatives--as சாத்தனோவந்தான், is it Sattan that came? (c) சிறப்பு, speciality, particularity, &c., an interjection of surprise. This is two-fold. 1. உயர்வுசிறப் பு, relating to objects of superiority, preeminence, &c.--as ஓஒ பெரியன், heigh day! he is an illustrious person. 2. இழிவுசிறப்பு, relating to objects of inferiority, baseness, &c.--as ஓஒ கொடியன், Oh! he is a cruel wretch. (d) எதிர்மறை, negation--as யானோ செய்வேன், will I do it? implying I will not. (e) தெரிநிலை, ascertainment, clear perception, appeal to the hearer, &c.-as ஆணோஅதுவுமன்றுபெண்ணோஅதுவுமன்று, it is neither male nor female. (f) கழிவு, bereavement, an interjection of pity--as ஓஒ தமக் கோருறுதியுணராரோ, alas, alas, they have found no way of salvation. (g) அசைநிலை, expletive--as காணியவம்மினோ, come let us see. (h) பிரிநிலை, distinguishing, marking-as அவனோகொண்டான், it was he who bought it. In addition to these it also serves to express doubt--as நீனிறமுகிலோபசியசைவல மோநெடுந்திரைகொழித்ததெள்ளறலோ, is the hair of the damsel analogous to the blue clouds, to the green moss, or the black sand on the shore drifted by the billows (நைட); அதென்னவோதெரியாது, What that can be I know not.

ōlai (p. 84) s. A palm leaf of any species, an ola, பனை, தெங்குமுதலியவற்றினோலை. 2. The leaf of the தாழை or wild pine-apple tree, தாழையோலை. 3. An ola letter, a written ola, a writing or document, எழுதுமோலை. 4. The summons of Yama, நமனோலை. 5. (p.) (சது.) Sound, ஒலி. நாளையோலையுந்தூதரும்வரின். If to-morrow the messengers of Yama come with the summons. (வைரா.) ஓலைக்கட்டு, s. A bundle of palmyra leaves. ஓலைக்கணக்கர், s. Learners at school, பள்ளியிற்படிப்போர். ஓலைக்கணக்கரொலியடங்கும்புன்மாலை. The evening when the noise of learners at school ceases. (நாலடி.) ஓலைக்கணாட்டு, s. A chip of small piece of ola. ஓலைக்கண், s. Scallop or indentation of a palmyra leaf. ஓலைக்காந்தல், s. Cinder of the ola--as burning, floating flakes, dry pieces of ola. ஓலைக்குடை, s. An umbrella made of palm leaves. ஓலைக்கொடி, s. [prov.] An ola kite. ஓலைச்சிறகு, s. The half of a palmyra leaf. ஓலைச்சுருள், s. An ola letter inclosed in a செந்திரிக்கம். ஓலைதீட்ட, inf. To write on the ola, ஓலையிலெழுத. ஓலைதீட்டும்படை, s. A style, an iron pen, எழுத்தாணி. ஓலைபோக்க--ஓலைவிட, inf. To send a note. கூற்றைவெல்குவம்வருகவென்னாவோலைவிட்டு. Despatching a challenge to the regent of the dead-- ஓலைப்பூ, s. [vul.] The flower of the wild pine-apple tree, தாழம்பூ. ஓலைமுத்திரை, s. A stamp imprinted on a palmyra leaf. ஓலைமுரி, s. Unevenness of a palm leaf. ஓலையாள், s. A carrier of palm leaf letters. ஓலையெழுத, inf. To write a letter on a palmyra leaf. ஓலைவாங்க, inf. To receive an ola; i. e. the summons of death; to die. ஓலைவீடு, s. A house thatched with palmyra leaves. ஓலைவேலி, s. A hedge platted with palm leaves. பட்டோலை, s. A written order, royal edicts. 2. A writing from dictation. காதோலை, s. Ear-hoop of palm leaf. 2. (fig.) Ear-hoop made of gold, worn by women. குருத்தோலை, s. A young shoot of palm leaf. படியோலை, s. The duplicate of a document. (பெரியபு.) படையோலை--பாரோலை, s. A palmyra leaf or leaves on which the fruit of the palmyra are kept when they are unhusked, preparatory to their being inspissated. பிணியோலை, s. An amulet made of palmyra leaf, tied as a remedy to the waist of children supposed to be possessed of a demon. ஔ--ஔகாரம். The twelfth or last of the vowels in Tamil, உயிரெழுத்தி லொன்று. ஔகாரக்குறுக்கம், s. The letter ஔ shortened in sound, சார்பெழுத்துக்களி லொன்று. 127) *

kuṟi (p. 132) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To design, intend; to contemplate, consider, think, கருத. 2. To imagine, to conceive, மதிக்க. 3. To appoint, determine, decree, விதிக்க. 4. To note down; to make the first draught in writing; to sketch an outline in painting, to trace, குறித்துக்கொள்ள. 5. To refer to, to denote, suggest, specify. சுட்டிக்காட்ட. 6. To designate, to characterize, to denominate, to name, பெயர் குறிக்க. 7. To address one's self--as in prayer; to have reference to--as a procuring cause, நோக்க. 8. To foretell, to presage, to prognosticate by astrology, palmistry, augury, &c., முன்னறிவிக்க. 9. To blow--as a chank, &c., ஊத. செவிடன்காதிலேசங்குகுறித்தாற்போல. Like blowing a chank to a deaf man--it being useless. அதைக்கனவிலுங்குறிக்கவில்லை. I did not even dream of it. இதிலேஅவர்குறிக்கிறதென்ன. What does he mean by it? குறிக்குங்கால். If we consider.
