urppu (p. 63) கிறேன், உரப்பினேன், வே ன், உரப்ப, v. n. and a. To whoop, vociferate inarticulately or otherwise--as in driving cattle, scaring away birds, beasts, or human beings, to menace or intimidate by shouts, to bluster, shout, call, அதட்ட. 2. To urge forward beasts of burden with shouts, துரத்த. 3. (p.) To pronounce with aspiration, as the second letter in each of the five series of Sanscrit gutterals, உரத் தொலிக்க. ஆனையையுரப்பிலிடு. Frighten away, or drive the elephants along. ஒருவரேயெதிரினிங்ஙனுரப்பியேதுரப்பர். If but one should oppose them, he may rout them all merely by a menacing shout. உரப்பிப்பார்க்க, inf. To use menace, boisterousness, &c., in order to try the courage of any one to beat him down, &c. உரப்பியடிக்க, inf. To attempt, overcome by boisterous talk, overcome in whole, or in part. உரப்பு, v. noun. Bluster, shout, vociferation, whoop, call, அதட்டுகை.

kūvu (p. 136) கிறது, கூவினது--கூயிற்று, ம், கூவ, v. n. [in the gerund, it is sometimes கூய் instead of கூவி.] To crow--as a cock, சேவல் முதலியனகூவ. 2. To coo, to sing, to warble --as birds; to scream--as a peacock, பறவை யொலிக்க. 3. v. a. To call, to whoop, to halloo, கூப்பிட. 4. (p.) To utter, proclaim, சொல்ல. 5. v. n. To scold at, to brawl, அதட்ட. 6. To cry--as a child; to bawl, அழ. In poetry like other similar words, it makes the past in கூவியது, கூயினது and கூயது. குயில்கூவினாற்போல். Like the warbling of the குயில் bird. இடும்பியைக்கூவியங்ஙனங்குறுகினான். He repaired to the place, calling இடும்பி. (பார.) கூவுவான், s. The cock; lit. the crower. கூவல்--கூப்பு, v. noun. There is something in my throat obstructing the passage. அவன்என்வார்த்தையைத்தட்டிப்போட்டான். He has disobeyed me. மழைதட்டிப்போயிற்று. Rain is deficient. அரிசித்தட்டிப்போயிற்று. The rice is nearly exhausted; or rice is very dear and scarce. தட்டாமல்முட்டாமல் விழுங்கிப்போட்டான். He has swallowed it (his large income) without difficulty. [prov.] தட்டாமல்வைக்க, inf. To place things so as not to touch each other. தட்டவைக்கப்பார்க்க--தட்டவைக்கநி னைக்க, inf. To put one on a wrong scent when in pursuit of another. தட்டிக்கிளம்ப--தட்டியெழும்ப, inf. To rice grow high, or tall. 2. To rise to affluence, influence, &c. 3. To be animated with joy, or zeal for an enterprize; to be roused with anger. தட்டிக்கேட்க, inf. To speak or remonstrate. தட்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To quiet, to lull by tapping. 2. To cheer, to encourage men or beasts by patting on the back, shoulders, &c. 3. [in prison bars.] To tap a person so that another may grasp him. தட்டிக்கொள்ள, inf. To be exhausted, to be in want. 2. To strike against, to be resisted, by an obstacle. 3.
