cātaṉam (p. 175) s. A deed, a bond, a voucher, a charter, any legal instrument in writing. உறுதிப்பத்திரிகை. (c.) 2. Characters, distinctive marks or emblems of a religious sect--as sacred ashes, beads, &c., அடையா ளம். See சாசனம். 3. W. p. 916. SADHANA. Perseverance, effort, determined application, unwearied assiduity, persistence in any act or opinion, உறுதி. See சாதனை. 4. Means, method, instrument, materials, expedient, contrivance, எத்தனம். 5. [in log.] Premises in an argument, proof, in contradistinction to what is to be proved-opposite to சாத்தியம், ஏது. 6. An adaptation, fitness, suitableness, தகுதி. 7. Efficient instrumentality, necessary adjunct, துணைக்காரணம். W. p. 916. SADANA. 8. Place, a place of dwelling, இடம். 9. Town, village, ஊர். (p.) சாதனபத்திரம்--சாதனமுறி, s. A title deed, a deed of grant inscribed on copper, &c. சாதனம்பண்ண, inf. To maintain a practice, to persist in, to inure one's self to, சாதனைபண்ண. 2. To get a titledeed--as சாசனம்பண்ண. சாதனாந்தரம், s. An additional document; [ex அந்தரம்.] சாதனக்காணி, s. [prov.] A hereditary property in land. சிலாசாதனம், s. An instrument engraven on stone. See சிலை. தருமசாதனம், s. A deed of endowment to a temple, a person, &c. தருமசாதனப்பட்டையம், s. [loc.] A deed of endowment inscribed on copper. See பட்டையம். மரணசாதனம், s. A will and testament. சாதனசாத்தியம், s. The premises and conclusion, antecedent and consequent. சாதனாபாசம், s. [in log.] Fallacy in both or one of the premises; [ex ஆபாசம்.] சாதனசதுட்டயம், s. The four-fold qualification indispensable to a student of the Vedantic philosophy. 1. நித்தியா நித்தியவஸ்துவிவேகம். 2. இகபரபுத்திரார்த்தபரபோ கவிராகம். 3. சமாதிசட்கசம்பந்தி. 4. முமூட்சுத் துவம்.
