añcu (p. 7) s. Five. See ஐந்து. அஞ்சாம்வருணம், s. The fifth caste, Pariahs, &c. அஞ்சாலியிடையர், s. [prop. அஞ் சார இடையர்.] A tribe of cowherds; whose women wear, in their marriage neck jewel, five ornaments, or ஐந்தாலி. அஞ்சாரப்பெட்டி, s. [prop. அஞ்ச றைப்பெட்டி.] A box that has five compartments, one in the middle and four surrounding, made of palmyra leaves or other materials for containing flowers, spices, &c. அஞ்சுருவாணி, s. (as அச்சுருவா ணி.) An iron bolt passing through the five tiers of a car. அஞ்சுமூன்றுமுண்டானாலறியாப்பெண்ணுங் கறி யாக்கும். Even a young girl will be able to make a curry, when she has the following three and five things, viz., புளி, souring; மிளகு, pepper; உப்பு, salt; கடுகு, mustard; and சீரகம், cumin--which are the five; and the three are நீர், water; நெருப்பு; fire; and விறகு, fire-wood--said by an angry husband to his wife when the curry is not good. பூதங்கள் அஞ்சும் அகத்தேங்கும். The egg-shaped universe, முட்டை வடிவான அண்டம். 2. An astronomical treatise, ஓர்நூல். அண்டச்சுவர், s. Wall or shell of the mundane egg, அண்டபித்திகை. அண்டபகிரண்டம்--அண்டரண்ட பகிரண்டம், s. This world and the worlds beyond the mundane sphere; ex பஹி-பஹிஸ், outside. அண்டபிண்டம், s. The universe and the body; the latter is said to contain in embryo, or miniature, every thing found in the former. அண்டத்திலுள்ளதுபிண்டத்தில் உண்டு. What is in the world is also in the human body. அண்டமுகடு, s. The highest part or top of the imaginary shell that surrounds the solar system. அண்டயோனி, s. The sun, சூரி யன்; ex யோனி, the place of birth. அண்டரண்டம், s. The world of the gods; ex அண்டர், gods. அண்டர், s. The celestials or inhabitants of the supernal world, the gods, வானோர். 2. Foes, opponents, enemies, பகைவர். 3. Herdsmen, cowherds, shepherds, இடையர். (p.) அண்டவாணர், s. The gods, celestials. அண்டவாதம்--அண்டவாயு, s. Rupture, scrotal hernia, ஓர்நோய். பிரமாண்டம், s. A person with harsh words and good disposition. அமுதசருக்கரை, s. A medicinal sugar prepared from the சீந்தில் root or stem. அமுததாரணை, s. The nectarine principle in the head or brain from which the silent, motionless devotee is supposed to obtain nutrition, support and enjoyment, when living without external food. அமுதபுட்பம், s. A creeping plant, சிறுகுறிஞ்சா, Periploca, L. அமுதப்பார்வை, s. A favorable or propitious look. as of a lady towards her admirer, குளிர்ந்தபார்வை. அமதமேந்தல், v. noun. Giving food to ascetics and other virtuous persons, guests, as one of the nine kinds of புண்ணியம், and of the sixteen உபசாரம். அமுதயோகம், s. [in astrology.] The auspicious conjunction of a certain day of the week, phase of the moon and lunar constellation. See யோகம். அமுதர், s. Celestials, வானோர். 2. Herdsmen, இடையர். (p.) அமுதவல்லி, s. A creeper, as சீந்தில். அமுதவெழுத்து, s. Letters deemed propitious and proper to begin a poem, or to be in other important places. koṉṟai (p. 147) s. [improp. கொன்னை.] A genus of flower trees, கடுக்கை. Cassia,L. சரக்கொன்றை, சிறுகொன்றை, செழுமலர்க்கொன் றை, திருக்கொன்றை, புலிநகக்கொன்றை, பெருங் கொன்றை, பொற்கொன்றை, மயிர்க்கொன்றை, முட் கொன்றை, are varieties of கொன்றை. See those words. கொன்றைக்காய், s. It is not a sin to kill a cow in self-defence. பசுகரணம், s. Faculties of the soul. பசுக்காத்தல், v. noun. One of the six occupations of Vaisyas; the care of flocks. See தொழில். பசுக்காவலர், s. [pl.] Cowherds--the caste, இடையர். 2. Any of the three divisions of the Vaisyas. பசுஞானம், s. Nature, capacity or faculties of the soul. 2. Spiritual knowledge of the second degree, as distinguished from பதிஞானம் and பாசஞானம்; the former only being sufficient for salvation. 3. Limited knowledge of the soul as acquired by the senses. 4. The mode of existence of the soul, being itself intelligent, but subject to non-intelligence, by its moral evil, and connexion with matter. காவேரிக்கரைப்பசுபோல்அலைகிறான். He wanders like a cow on the banks of the Kavery--discontented. பசுத்தக்காளி--பசுவின்தக்காளி, s. A shrub, ஓர்தக்காளி, Physalis. பசுத்துவம், s.
