[also நிராஞ் சனம்.] Holding a lighted wick in water in which turmeric and lime are dissolved, and margosa leaves placed; and waving it round the idol, ஓர்ஆலாத்தி. 2. Waving lighted, sacrificial grass around ghee, and casting it into the sacred fire; (some give other definitions), சுத்திக ரிக்குமோர்சடங்கு. நீராடல், v. noun. Bathing, playing in water, ஸ்தானஞ்செய்தல். 2. A ripening cocoa-nut in which the water sounds when shaken; also நீராடற்றேங்காய். 3. One of the ten parts of juvenile poetry of the female class. A kind of plant, புல்லா மணக்கு, Melanthium Indica. நீர்ப்பாக்கு, s. Areca-nut steeped in water. See ஊறற்பாக்கு. நீர்ப்பாடு, v. noun. Violent diarrh&oe;a, sudden and often fatal, விஷக்கிராணி. 2. Diabetes, especially of women, நீரழிவு. 3. Drought, want of rain, நீர்க்குறைவு. (Beschi.) நீர்ப்பாடுமெய்யானாற்கௌபீனந்தாங்குமோ. If a man has a violent diarrh&oe;a, can be keep on his flap-cloth? i. e. can the weak contend with the mighty? நீர்ப்பாடானபயிர், s. Vegetables injured by drought. நீர்ப்பாட்டுச்சன்னி, s. Discharge of serum from a sore or of water from the eyes, mucus from the nose, &c., சீப்பாய்தல். நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சலானநாடு. A country abounding with mountain streams, rivers, rivulets, &c. நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சுமானியம், s. Land held free of tax, in whole or in part, irrigated from a public reservoir. [ Gov. usage.] நீர்ப்பிடி-நீர்ப்பிடிப்பு, v. noun. Quantity of water. 2. Watery humors in the body, juiciness of some kinds of fruit or vegetables. See தண்ணீர்ப்பிடி. நீர்ப்பிரமியம், s. Strangury, especially of men. See நீர்ப்பாடு. நீர்ப்பிளவை, s. A kind of ulcer. See பிளவை. நீர்ப்பீனசம், s. A kind of inflammation in the head, with offensive discharges of mucus. See பீனசம். நீர்ப்படையன், s. A poisonous kind of water-snake, ஓர்பாம்பு. நீர்ப்பூ, s. One of the four kinds of flowers, a water-flower, நால்வகைபபூவி னொன்று. நீர்ப்பூலா--நீர்ப்பூல், s. A kind of shrub, a species of the பூல், Phyllanthus multiflorus. Willd. நீர்ப்பெருக்கு, v. noun Flow of tide, சலப்பெருக்கு. நீர்மட்டம், s. Water-level. நீர்மறிப்பு, v. noun. Stoppage of urine, நீரடைப்பு. நீர்மாங்காய், s. Managoes soaked in water, and dried, forming a kind of pickle, மாங்காயடைகாய். நீர்மீட்டான்--நீர்விட்டான், appel. n. A kind of medicinal creeper. See தண்ணீர் விட்டான். நீர்முகம், s. A ford, a place in a river for bathing, getting water, &c., இறங்கு துறை. 2. Head of the tide or current at the mouth of a river, where it flows into the sea, நீர்ப்பெருக்கின்முனை. (p.) நீர்முட்ட, inf. To make water (urine) சிறுநீர்முட்ட. (School usage.) 2. To be short of water. நீர்முட்டுகிறகண்கள். Watery eyes. நீர்முள்ளி, s. One of the முள்ளி plants, Barleria longifolia. L. நீர்மேலெழுத்து, s. An inscription on the water. See எழுத்து. நீர்மேல்நெருப்பு, s. A kind of herb, cool to the touch, but causing blisters afterwards, கல்லுருவி, Ammonia debilis, also used figuratively to persons. நீர்மோர், s. Thin watery butter-milk, with other ingredients, used as a beverage. நீர்வஞ்சி, s. A kind of ratan, ஓர்வகை ப்பிரம்பு. நீர்வண்டு, s. A water-fly. நீர்வல்லி, s. The betel-creeper, வெற் றிலைக்கொடி. நீர்வழுக்கை, s. A kind of water-plant, ஓர்நீர்ப்பூடு, Myriophyllum foliosum, L. நீர்வளம், s. Abundance of water, நீர் நிறைவு. நீர்வள்ளி, s. A medicinal creeper, தண் நீர்மீட்டான். 2. As நீர்வல்லி. நீர்வற்ற, inf. To dry up, as water, &c. நீர்வற்றம், v. noun. Ebb of tide. நீர்வற்றல், s. Any thing in which the juice is evaporated by drying, சாரம்வற்றி யது. நீர்வாத்து, s. A kind of fen-duck, or water-bird, ஓர்தாரா, Anas boschos. நீர்வாரம், s. Rice that grows by tanks or in marshy ground, குளநெல். Compare நீவாரம். நீர்வாழுஞ்சாதி, s. Aquatic creatures, நீர்வாழ்வன. 2.
