eẕutu (p. 75) கிறேன், எழுதினேன், வேன், எழுத, v. a. To write, paint, draw, mark, stain, trace (letters, &c.), inscribe, வரைய. 2. To foreordain, to predestine. This verb is soused from the notion that each one's fate is written by Brahma in the skull, தலையிலெழுத. 3. To write composition, draw up in writing, வசனாதிகளெழுத. 4. To engrave, சித்திரமெழுத. எழுதக்கைதிரும்பவில்லை. The hand is not yet trained. எட்கிடைநெற்கிடைவிட்டெழுத. To write leaving the space of a sesamum seed between the letters, and of a grain of rice between the lines--the order to be observed in writing. எழுதாக்கிளவி--எழுதாமறை, s. The vedas, lit. unwritten works--an appellation adopted with reference to their meaning being handed down by oral explanation and not written, or to the accent, pronunciation, &c., which cannot be written, வேதம். எழுதிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To recount,register, write and keep for a memorandum, &c., to write and leave behind for the use of others. எழுதினஉடன்படிக்கை--எழுதின வொப்பாசாரம், s. Written contract. எழுதுகோல், s. A writing reed, எழுதுங்கோல். 2. A painter's brush or pencil, தூரியக்கோல். எழுதுபடம், s. A picture, கிழி. மேற்பாடம்பார்த்தெழுதுதல், v. noun. Copying from a written book. பெயர்த்தெழுத, inf. To copy, to transcribe. குறிப்பெழுத, inf. To note down the time, &c. of the birth of a child. திருத்தமாயெழுத, inf. To write correctly. சரமகவியெழுத, inf. [prov.] To write a stanza, commemorative of the death of an ancestor, or other near relative, mentioning the day, hour, &c. of the moon, as a memorandum for ascertaining the time to perform the annual funeral rites. மறுமொழியெழுத--பதிலெழுத, inf. To write an answer. பருக்கவெழுத, inf. To write in large characters. கைபடியவெழுத, inf. To practise writing, train the hand in writing. 14)

To note down; to make the first draught in writing; to sketch an outline in painting, to trace, குறித்துக்கொள்ள. 5. To refer to, to denote, suggest, specify. சுட்டிக்காட்ட. 6. To designate, to characterize, to denominate, to name, பெயர் குறிக்க. 7. To address one's self--as in prayer; to have reference to--as a procuring cause, நோக்க. 8. To foretell, to presage, to prognosticate by astrology, palmistry, augury, &c., முன்னறிவிக்க. 9. To blow--as a chank, &c., ஊத. செவிடன்காதிலேசங்குகுறித்தாற்போல. Like blowing a chank to a deaf man--it being useless. அதைக்கனவிலுங்குறிக்கவில்லை. I did not even dream of it. இதிலேஅவர்குறிக்கிறதென்ன. What does he mean by it? குறிக்குங்கால். If we consider. To tell particularly; to define, specify, discribe, suggest. குறித்துப்பார்க்க--குறிப்பாய்ப்பார்க்க, inf. To look steadfastly, intently, significantly. உத்தியோகங்குறிக்க, inf. tīṭṭu (p. 242) கிறேன், தீட்டினேன், வேன், தீட்ட, v. a. To whet, hone, sharpen, or rub knives, on a board, கூராக்க. 2. To clean rice, &c., by pounding, அரிசிதீட்ட. 3. (fig.) To beat, strike, அடிக்க. 4. To improve or sharpen the intellects, மனதைத்தீட்ட. 5. (for தீற்று.) To clean the teeth, பல்துலக்க. 6. To write, inscribe, delineate, எழுத. 7. To paint, draw pictures, &c., சித்திரிக்க. 8. To bind, tie, fasten, கட்ட. (திருக்குற்றாலப்புரா ணம். தீட்டத்தீட்டக்கூராகிறது. It becomes sharpened the more it is whetted; (fig.) the mental powers improve by exercise, application and study. தீட்டிப்பார்க்க, inf. To try a knife by a hone. 2. To try one's learning by questions. நாக்குத்தீட்ட, inf. [prov. in cant usage.] To praise one's self. தீட்டல், v. noun. Writing, sharpening, cleansing, &c., as the verb. தீட்டலரிசி--தீட்டரிசி, s.
