umi (p. 62) s. Husk, chaff, hull, bran, தானியங்களினுமி. (c.) உமிக்கரப்பான், s. A small kind of eruption especially in children. உமிக்கரி--உமிச்சாம்பல், s. Ricehusk, charcoal used for cleaning the teeth, polishing metals, &c. உமிக்காந்தல், s. A fire by ricehusks. உமிக்கூர்--உமிமூக்கு, s. The apex of rice chaff broken off, or several of them. உமிச்சட்டி, s. A vessel containing chaff in which fire is kept alive. உமிச்சிரங்கு, s. A superficial troublesome kind of itch. kuntu (p. 121) s. A hop, a tip-toe, [vulgarly, கிந்து.] 2. [prov.] Fibres in fruits--as in the mango and palmyra; also, in roots, சக்கை. Probably a change of கூந்தல். See under the verb குந்து. அவர்களிலொருகுந்துங்கூருமில்லாமற்போய்விட்டது, There is not one of the family left--not even a fibre. குந்துகாலி, s. A hobbling or limping female. குந்துத்தடி, s. [prov.] A stick with several prongs, or a similar contrivance to take out the fibre from palmyra pulp. 25)

kūr (p. 135) --கூரு, கிறது, கூரும், கூர, v. n. To be sharp--as the edge or point of an instrument, ஆயுதமுதலியகூராக. 2. To become keen, acute, brilliant--as the intellect; to be sagacious, clever, penetrating, புத்திமுத லியகூர; [ex கூர், sharpness.] 3. To be abundant, copious, excessive, மிக; [ex கூர், abundant.] கூர்ந்தபுத்தி, s. Sharp wit, quick perception. கூர்ந்துபார்க்க, inf. To look with a sharp eye, to look intently. கூர்ப்பு, v. noun.
