auṭatam (p. 84) --ஔஷதம், s. [com. அவுழ்தம்.] Medicine, a medicament or drug, மருந்து. 2. An antidote, a remedy, மாற்றும ருந்து. 3. A feigned class of vegetable medicines possessing wonderful properties, of which four kinds are specified, viz.: 1. சல்லியகரணி, medicines curing wounds made with pointed weapons. 2. சந்தானகரணி, setting broken bones. 3. சமா னகரணி, or சம்பன்னகரணி, curing bruises, scars, &c. 4. சஞ்சீவகரணி, or சஞ்சீவி restoration of the swooning or the dead.
