aṟu (p. 33) கிறது, ந்தது, ம், அற, v. n. To be parted, detached, separated; to break as a rope, அறுபட. 2. To cease, become extinct, perish, end, vanish, அழிய. 3. To be decided, ended, தீர. (c.) அற, inf. [used adverbially.] With a verb it expresses; 1. Wholly, entirely, quite, முழுதும். 2. Intensely, excessively, மிகவும். 3. Negation, being without, as குற்றமற, without fault. அறச்செட்டுமுழுநஷ்டம். Selling things too dearly will cause entire loss; i. e. avarice causes loss. அறப்படித்தான். He has learnt all perfectly. எழுத்தறவாசி. Read with distinct articulation. அறக்கட்ட, inf. To tie tightly, இறுகக்கட்ட. 2. To monopolize, ஒருமிக்கக் கொள்ள. அறக்காய, inf. To be over-dried, over-boiled, over-heated. அறக்கூட்ட, inf. To sweep clean or thoroughly. அறக்கூர்மை, s. Excessive sharpness as of a writing style. அறச்சிவப்பு, s. Deep red, extremely red. அறச்சிறியது, appel. n. The smallest. அறப்பாடல், v. noun. [commonly, அறம்பாடல்.] Composing poetry containing imprecations or spells.--Note. Verses of this kind are supposed sometimes to be made without design, and thus to injure the maker and others. அறப்பார்க்க, inf. To examine thoroughly, sift. 2. To take measures to defeat, ruin or injure one by defamation. அறமிகுந்தால், v. part. At most, at the utmost, by any means, with the greatest effort. அறமிகுந்துவந்தாலும்வரட்டும். If it must come (if no effort will avert it) let it come. அறவிளக்க, inf. To polish thoroughly. அறவூத--அறவைக்க, inf. To refine metals by fire, புடமிட. அறாவிலை, s. An exorbitant price. அறுகுறை, s. A headless body, கவந்தம். அறுந்தருணம், s. Emergency, exigency. அறுந்தொகை, s. A sum, number, &c. in dividing, in which there is no remainder. அறுவாய், s. The parting made in sawing a piece of timber. 2. The opening of a cut or wound. 3. A junction, a conjunction of two periods of time, extremity, end. 4. Deficiency, what is wanted to complete a whole; [ex அறு, parted, et வாய், opening.] அறுவாய்நிறைந்தவயிர்மதி. The bright moon whose waning is restored. அற்றறுதி, s. A complete end, entire ruin. அற்றறுதிபற்றறுதியாய்விட்டது. All communion is withdrawn. அற்றான், s. A poor man, தரித் திரன், 2. A sage, முனிவன். அற்றுப்போக, inf. To be lost, to cease to be. தடையற, inf. [used adverbially.] Without impediment. அறவு, v. noun. Cessation, ceasing, extinction. 2. Parting, separation, breach. அறவுளி, s. Incantations performed over a sick person in order to restore him. 2. Cessation, end, முடிவு. அறுதல், v. noun. Finishing, liquidating a debt. 2. s. A broken thread, string, rope, bandage, &c. அறுந்திருப்பது. 3. A mean, despicable or faulty person, உதவாதவன் அந்த அறுதலையிங்கேவரவிடலாகாது, You must not allow that vagabond to be here. தாம்புமறுதல் தோண்டியும்பொத்தல். A broken rope and a leaky water-pot. அறுதலி, s. A widow, கைம்பெ ண்; [ex அறுதல், being plucked off (the marriage jewel), et இ, fem. termination; or அறு, torn off, et தலி, contracted from தாலி, the badge of marriage.] அறுதலிமகனுக்கங்கமெல்லாஞ்சேஷ்டை. The son of a widow is mischievous throughout his whole frame. அறுதி, v. noun. End, close, termination, முடிவு. 2. Decision, decisiveness, determination--as a decisive sale, entire renunciation of a title to landed property, தீர்ப்பு. 3. s. The purchaser's possession or title to property purchased, விற்கிரயச்சீட்டு. 4. Absence, non-existence, இல்லாமை. 5. Death, சாவு. அறுதியாய்ப்போயிற்று. It is settled, completed, ended. அறுதியிட்டுச்சொன்னான். He spoke decisively. நமக்குக்கிடைத்தது நமக்கறுதி. Thus much is realized and we shall not have to part with it. அந்தப்பழக்கத்தையறுதியாய்விட்டுவிட்டேன். I have relinquished that custom entirely. அறுதிக்கரை, s. The proper and just division or distribution of land. அறுதிச்சாதனம்--அறுதியுறுதி, s. A deed of transfer, அறுதிச்சீட்டு. அறுதிச்சொல், s. A decisive word or sentence. அறுதிப்பங்கு, s. An elf, imp, a little goblin, invoked in performing juggling tricks, குறளி. குட்டிச்சாத்திக்காரன், s. An enchanter, sorcerer, one who is supposed to have power over a familiar spirit. குட்டிப்பல், s. An extra of dwarf tooth. குட்டிவிரல், s. A sixth or extra finger or toe, smaller than the proper size, ஐந்திற்கதிகமானவிரல். குட்டிச்சுவர், s. A short piece of wall adjoining a large building, சிறுசுவர். 2. (fig.) A worthless fellow, மடையன். காரியங்குட்டிச்சுவராய்ப்போயிற்று. The thing has dwindled away, is come to nought. குட்டிக்கம்பு, s. A small stick which children use in play. குட்டிக்கொக்கான், s. [prov.] A kind of play with pebbles, ஓர்விளையாட்டு. குட்டிபடல், v. noun. [prov.] Striking a wrong coin or seed in games. 2. Becoming pregnant--as a sheep, goat, or dog, சினைப்படல். குட்டியடிக்க, s. [prov.] To strike another coin, or seed than the one indicated. குட்டிவைக்க, inf. ciṟuku (p. 189) --சிறு, கிறேன், சிறுகினேன், வேன், சிறுக, v. n. To grow small, shorten, diminish, to be reduced, சுருங்க. 2. To be small, to appear diminutive, to be made small. short, சிறியதாக. 3. To be impoverished, to sink in circumstances, தரித்திரமடைய. 4. To degenerate in morals, or religious practice, &c., சீர்குன்ற. சிறுக, inf. (adverbially.) ciluvṭṭai (p. 186) s. [vul.] Any thing small, a little creature, an insignificant thing, சிறியது. சிலுவட்டைகளோடுகூடாதே. Don't keep company with insignificant people. 67)

coṟpm (p. 212) s. That which is small, fine, minute, சிறியது. 2. Paltriness, frivolousness, slightness; a trifle, அற்பம்; [ex சு, very, et அற்ப, little.] W. p. 964. SVALPA. (c.) சொற்பகாரியம், s. tkppṉ (p. 219) s. A father; as among brahmans, தமப்பன், and தோப்பன். (c.) தகப்பன்மரியாதை. As a father. தகப்பன்முறை, s. Relationship of one to the sons and daughters of his brothers, or those of his wife's sisters. The term also includes several other degrees of consanguinity. See சிறியதகப்பன். சிறியதகப்பன், s. A father's younger brother. பெரியதகப்பன், s. A father's older brother. பெறாததகப்பன், s. Step-father. 2. Foster-father. 8)

tāy (p. 234) s. Mother, அன்னை. 2. Dam, female parent of animals in general, விலங்கின் தாய். 3. [in combination.] A maternal aunt, &c. (See சிறியதாய், சிறியதாய்முறை and பெரியதாய்.) 4. Origin, that which is primitive, chief, or principal, முதன்மை. (c.) தாய், is also applied to five kinds of nurses. 1. பாராட்டுத்தாய். 2. ஊட்டுந்தாய். 3. முலைத்தாய். 4. கைத்தாய். 5. செவிலித்தாய். which see. Another five-fold classification is given of persons held in similar esteem with mothers. 1. அரசன்தேவி, king's wife. 2. குருவின்தேவி, wife of the guru. 3. அண் ணன்தேவி, elder brother's wife. 4. தன்தே வியைஈன்றவள், wife's mother. 5. தன்னைஈன் றவள், one's own mother. தாய்ப்பொன்னிலும்மாப்பொன்எடுக்கிறவன். He who would steal one-twentieth even of his mother's gold--a maxim on the thievishness of goldsmiths. தாய்முகங்காணாதபிள்ளை. A child early bereaved of its mother. தாய்முலைப்பாலிலும்உப்புப்பார்க்கிறவன். One who tries even his mother's milk to see if it is not salt; i. e. a distrustful, mistrustful, sceptical person. தாய்சொற்சிறந்தவாசகமில்லை. No word is like that of a mother. (Avv.) தாயினும்அன்பர்கர்த்தர். The Divine Being more loving than a mother. (Christ. usage.) தாய்க்குள்ளதுமகளுக்கு. As the mother, so the daughter. தாயாடு, s. A dam. தாயேடு--தாயோலை, s. [prov.] The original book, முதலேடு. தாயைக்கொல்லி, appel. n. A matricide. 2. A villain, a wretch, மாபாவி. 3. A plantain, or other tree that perishes after yielding, வாழைநண்டுசிப்பிவேய்முதலியன. தாய்கால்--தாய்க்கால்வழி, s. Maternal relatives--as தாய்வழி. தாய்க்கம்பு, s. A stick with which children, in a play, strike a smaller one, கோட்டி. தாய்க்கரும்பு, s. The parent sugarcane. தாய்க்கறையான்--தாய்ச்செல், s. A large white-ant. See கறையான். தாய்க்காணி, s. [prov.] Land of the first quality, முதற்றரமானகாணி. தாய்க்கிராமம், s. A principal village or hamlet. தாய்க்கிழங்கு, s. The principal esculent root. தாய்ச்சீட்டு, s. Original bond, draft, &c. தாய்ச்சீலை, s. (com. தாச்சீலை.) The fore-flap. தாய்ச்சோட்டை--தாய்ச்சோஷை, s. Longing of a child for its mother. தாய்தகப்பனில்லாதபிள்ளை, s. An orphan. தாய்மாமன், s. Maternal uncle. தாய்வழி--தாய்வழிச்சுற்றம், s. Relatives in the maternal line. தாய்வாழை, s. The original plantain tree. பெரியதாய், s. Mother's elder sister. 2. Elder paternal uncle's wife. பெரியதாய்முறை, s. Relationship of the wife's father's elder sisters, or of the husband's mother's elder brothers. பெற்றதாய்--நற்றாய், s.
