vāḷai (p. 387) --வாளைமீன், s. A fish, Trichiurus Lepturus. [Sa. Vala.] There are three varieties, ஆற்றுவாளை, Silurus bimaculatus; ஓலைவாளை, another kind of trichiurus; சொட்டைவாளை, another variety. வாளைகடியன், s. A poisonous snake whose bite is said to be fatal; which enters the mouth of rivers. 2)
