ayr (p. 22) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், அயர, v. a. To do, perform, execute, discharge duties, rites, &c., exercise, practise, செய்ய. In this meaning it seems commonly, associated with pleasant and gratifying sensations, as, விருந்தயர, to perform the rites of hospitality. 2. v. n. To faint, swoon, languish, தளர. 3. To lose the power of consciousness, as in faintness, drowsiness, sleep, &c., சோர. 4. To become weary, droop, இளைக்க. விளையாட்டயர்ந்தான். He has played. அவன்கண்ணயர்ந்ததைப்பார்த்து. Seeing him drowsy. (பஞ். 8.) அயரப்போட--அயரவிட, inf. To let rest for a better opportunity, as thieves, till persons are less on their guard, or as persons in a law suit. அயர்ந்தநித்திரை, s. iẕukku (p. 55) கிறேன், இழுக்கினேன், வேன், இழுக்க, v. n. To deviate from rule, to swerve from, neglect the performance of duty, to fall from a higher rank, to be disgraced, தவற. 2. To slip, slide, fall, deviate from the course or path, to stumble, flinch, வழுவ. 3. To fail, or be inferior to, தாழ. 4. To err, mistake, பிறழ. 5. To be reduced in strength, to become emaciated, கெட. காரியத்திலிழுக்கிப்போனான். He has failed in his attempt. இழுக்கடிக்க, inf. To put off the time of payment, to delay payment. இழுக்கம், v. noun. uṭai (p. 59) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To become broken--as a vessel; to crack, burst, break in pieces, split, to be fractured--as the skull, &c.; to break with force suddenly, to break or burst open--as a bank or shore; to break open--as a letter or seal, &c.; to be broken--as the skin; to be hurt--as by a wound, தகர. 2. To become broken--as the ranks of an army, to be discomfited, to retreat before the foe, இரிய. 3. To become broken--as the heart with grief, to be disheartened, dispirited, dejected, alienated, &c., to be in despair, மனம்நெகிழ. 4. To fall below in competition, rivalry or comparison, தாழ. 5. Clothes, garments, vesture, dress, வஸ்திரம். உடைநடைபாவனை, s. The mode of dress, the gait, the manner, external appearance. உடையல், s. Any thing broken, a breach, a fracture. உடையல்நெரியல், s. Things cracked and broken. உடைவாள், s. A short scimiter, an accoutrement or article of equipage, சுரிகை. உடைவு, v. noun. A breach, disruption, eruption, infraction, crack, fracture, தகர்வு. 2. ōy (p. 84) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ஓய, v. a. To cease, leave off, to desist from action, &c., to rest, விட. 2. v. n. To become tired, become weary, to fail, become weak or infirm--as a member of the body, தளர. 3. To cease, end, முடிய. ஓயாமலிருக்க, inf. To be incessant, continual. ஓயாமல்வருகிறான். He comes incessantly. மரங்காய்த்தோய்தல், v. noun. Ceasing to bear fruit for the season. ஆய்ந்தோய்ந்துபார்த்தல், v. noun. Considering maturely, deliberating. எல்லாமோய்ந்தகணக்காய்ப்போயிற்று. His wealth, influence, &c. are all reduced. கையோயாமல்வேலைசெய்கிறான். He labors incessantly. எழுதியெழுதிக்கையோய்ந்துபோயிற்று. My arm is weary with continual writing. ஆடியோய்ந்தபம்பரம். A top that has ceased to spin; i. e. an ascetic, so called because he has renounced worldly cares, and is henceforth exempt from transmigrations. 2. An old man whose active days are past. 3. A person dismissed from office. காலோய்ந்துகையோய்ந்துபோகுதல். Feeling weak in the legs and arms--as after fever, &c. ஓயாக்கவலை, s. Incessant troubles, anxiety. ஓயாமாரி, s. Incessant rain, ஓயா மழை. 2. Unceasing liberality, பெருங் கொடை. ஓய்ந்தமனம், s. A mind that has ceased to be affected by secular objects. ஓய்ந்துபோக, inf. To become weary. அடித்தோய, inf. To desist from beating. ஓயல்--ஓய்வு, v. noun. Cessation, ceasing, relinquishment, rest, ஒழிவு. 2. Slackness, தளர்வு. 3. End, termination, முடிவு. ஓய்வுகரையில்லாமற்கொடுக்கிறான்.
