A poem in which each verse has three things for its theme, முச்சொல்லலங்காரம்-as ஆறுநேராகிவூரும் அரசனோடேறுமாறானகுடியும் புருஷனோடுதாறுமாறானமனைவியும்இம்மூன்றும்நீறுநீறா கிவிடும், a town near a river, subjects in rebellion against their king, a wife disobedient to her husband; these three will go to ashes. திரிகண்டகம், s. The third day of the moon, either in its increase or decrease, மூன்றாந்திதி. திரிதீர்க்கம், s. One of the ten points in the horoscope of the bride and the bridegroom. See தசப்பொருத்தம். திரிதேகம், s. Three kinds of bodies. See சரீரத்திரயம். திரிதோஷம், s. The three humors of the body, முப்பிணி. 2. Vitiation of the three humors, as the cause of diseases, ஓர்நோய். திரிதோஷசன்னி, s. A fit from the above disease. திரித்துவம்--திரியத்துவம், s. (Chris. usage.) The Trinity. திரிநேத்திரன், s. Siva, the three-eyed, சிவன். Compare முக்கண்ணன். திரிபங்கி, s. A curiously wrought poem, one of the மிறைக்கவி, a stanza which may be turned into three others, and give three different meanings. See சித் திரகவி. திரிபதார்த்தம், s. The three eternal unoriginated things in the universe. as treated of in the சித்தாந்தம் philosophy, viz.: 1. பசு, soul; 2. பதி, deity; 3. பாசம், natural or moral evil. Among Vedantists சித்து, அசித்து, ஈச்சுரன். திரிபதகை, s. The Ganges, fancied to run through three worlds கங்கை. திரிபதாகி, s. One of the மிறைக்கவி, or curious poems. திரிபதாகை, s. A mode of using the hands in dancing. See காலட்சணம். திரிபலம்--திரிபலை, s. The three Myrobalan or medicinal fruits, often used in Indian medicines, 1. கடுக்காய், gallnuts, Terminalia chebula; 2. நெல்லிக் காய், Phyllanthus emblica; 3. தான்றிக்காய், Terminalia bellerica. திரிபலையேனாதி, s. An electuary compounded of the three fruits and other ingredients. திரிபழுகம், s. The three delicacies, milk, பால்; clarified butter, நெய்; and honey, தேன். திரிபாகி, s. One of the மிறைக்கவி, a curious poem in which a word of three letters when taken regularity gives one meaning, and when the first, second or third letter is taken away will give in each case a different meaning. திரிபுசம், s. The chiefs of the castles were, கமலன், கமலாட் சன், and விச்சுவமாலி. திரிபுரசுந்தரி, s. Parvati, பார்வதி. திரிபுரதகனன், s. (St.) Siva, சிவன்; [ex தகனன், who burnt.] திரிபுரமல்லிகை, s. (St.) A medicinal plant, apparently a kind of jasmine. திரிபுரமெரித்தான், appel. n. Siva, who burnt and destroyed திரிபுரம், சிவன். 2. A tree, நொச்சி, Vitex. 3. The மாவிலிங்கு tree. திரிபுராந்தகன், s. Siva, as destroyer of the three cities, சிவன்; [ex அந்தகன்.] திரிபுரி, s. A plant. See சாரணை. (R.) திரிபுரை, s. Parvati, பார்வதி; [ex புரம், town. திரிபுவனம், s. The three worlds. See திரிலோகம். திரிமஞ்சள், s. The three kinds of மஞ் சள், 1. Turmeric, மஞ்சள்; 2. Amomum, கஸ்தூரிமஞ்சள்; 3. The Indian triad, Brahma, Vishnu and Siva. திரிமூலம், s. Three kinds of medicinal roots, 1. திப்பிலிமூலம், of long-pepper; 2. சித்திரமூலம், of plumbago; 3. கண்டு மூலம், of a medicinal plant. திரியத்துவம்--திரியேகத்துவம்--திரியே கம். s. (Chris. usage.) Triune, trinity. திரியம்பகன், s. Siva, as the threeeyed, சிவன்; sometimes Vishnu; [ex அம் பகம், eye.] திரியவத்தை--திரியாவஸ்தை, The Three states of the mind. See அவத்தை. திரியாங்கம், s. A calendar embracing three parts or members, out of the five given in the native calendars; viz.: திதி, வாரம், நட்சத்திரம். See பஞ்சாங்கம். திருயேககடவுள்--திரியேகன், s. (Chris. usage.) God the Father, the son, and the Holy Ghost, which three are one. திரிலிங்கம், s. A mode of using the hands in dancing. (See காலட்சணம்.) 2. [in gram.] The three genders, 1. புல்லிங் கம், the masculine; 2. ஸ்திரீலிங்கம், the feminine; 3. நபுஞ்சலிங்கம், the neuter. திரிலோகம், s. The three worlds--the earth, the etherial regions, and the world of the gods, பூமி, அந்தரம், சுவர்க்கம். 2. Three metals--gold, பொன், silver, வெள்ளி, and copper, செம்பு. திரிலோகசிந்தூரம், s. A chemical preparation of three metals--of load-stone, iron and copper; or gold, silver and copper, ஓர்மருந்து. திரிலோகாதிபதி, s. Indra, இந்திரன். திரிலோகி, s. A plant, விஷ்ணுகரந்தை. tiri (p. 239) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், திரிய, v. n. To walk about, to wander, to ramble, to go here and there, to stray, to be unsettled, உழல. (c.) 2. To change, to vary, மாற. 3. To perish, அழிய. 4. To turn. to whirl; to revolve--as the heavenly bodies, உருள. 5. To be twisted; to be convolved, சுருள. 6. to revolve, as the soul in transmigrations, பிறவியிற்சுழல. 7. To vary or swerve from truth, மனங்கோண. 8. To be variegated, as a landscape, to be diversified, மாறுபட. 9. [with an infinitive preceding.] To be near or exposed to, as சாகத்திரிந்தேன், I was near dying. 1. [in gram.] To be changed as letters for their correlatives, &c., in combination or otherwise, எழுத்துத்திரிய. லகாரம்றகாரமாகவும்ளகாரம்டகரமாவுந்திரிந்தன..... The letter ல is changed to ற, and the letter ள to ட. கூடிநாடித்திரிய, inf. To associate with one. See கூடு, v. கெட்டுப்போகத்திரிய, inf. To go to ruin. முகந்திரிதல், v. noun. Change of countenance. (p.) திரிந்துவர, inf. To come round; to go about, or endeavor to accomplish. திரிசொல், s. Variable words, used, according to Rottler, principally by the learned. 1. Different names of the some thing. 2. A word with different meanings. 3. Words not in common use. 4. Metaphorical words. 5. Words declined or modified. திரிய--திரியவும், [prov.] [adverbially.] Again, furthermore, moreover, திரும்பவும். திரிதல்--திரிகை, v. noun. Roaming about, changing places. திரிபு--திரிவு, v. noun. Change, alteration, mutation, variation, diversity, வே றுபாடு. 2. [in gram.] Permutation, metathesis, &c., புணர்ச்சிவிகாரத்தொன்று. 3. One of the three obstacles to the attainment of heaven. See முத்திவிக்கினம். திரிபுக்காட்சி--திரிவுக்காட்சி, s. [in log.] Optical illusion, misconception in objects of sense; i. e. mistaking one thing for another, as a post for a thief, ஒன் றைமற்றொன்றாகமதித்தல். சொற்றிரிபு, s. Change in the form of a word, as of a gerund for an infinitive. பொருட்டிரிபு, Change of meaning, or compound terms having different meanings, according to the manner in which they are read or accented. திரிபுவிகாரம், s. [in gram.] The change of one letter for another. திரிபணி, s. A figure of speech, a metaphor, ஓரலங்காரம், as தாடகமலத்தானடந்து கட்குவளையானோக்கி, she walked with red lotus legs, and looked forth with குவளை flower eyes. 40)

A twisted or curled horn. See கொம்பு. திருகுகொம்பன், s. A beast with a curled horn. திருகுதாழை, s. A species of தாழை plant, ஓர்தாழை. திருகுதாளம், s. Artifice, trick, chicanery, மாறுபாடு. (c.) திருகுதாளக்காரன், s. (also திருகுதாளி, masc. and fem.) A knave, a trickish person. திருகுபனைமுகிழ், s. The whole upper integument of a palmyra fruit twisted off. See முகிழ். திருகுமணை--திருகரிவாள்மணை, s. [improp for துருவுமணை.] An instrument for crushing cocoa-nuts. திருகுமரம், s. A twisted or crooked tree. 2. A turnstile. திருகுமுகம், s. An averted, unfavorable countenance. திருகுமுகமாயிருக்க, inf. To be displeased so as to avert the face. 2. To form a favorable crisis, as a disease. திருகுவட்டம், s.
