ulāttu (p. 66) கிறேன், உலாத்தினேன், வேன், உலாத்த, v. a. To lead about (a person, a horse, &c.), உலாவப்பண்ண. 2. v. n. To go and come, move, or ride about for pleasure, pastime, recreation, or exercise, to go in procession, &c., சாரிவர. --Note. This seems to be a corruption of உலாவுவிக்க, and in the second meaning, to be used for உலாவ. உலாத்திக்கொண்டிருக்க, To be walking about. துலாத்தில்வெள்ளியுலாத்திற்பெய்யும். When Venus is in libra it will rain every where. தெருவுலாத்த, inf. To take a walk in the street. 2. To parade the streets-as marriage processions, &c. உலாத்து, v. noun. [prop. உலா.] Walking, moving to and fro, going and coming, a short journey, a jaunt, ramble, stroll, excursion. உலாத்துக்கட்டை, s. The pivot upon which a door or shutter turns. 16)

ūẕiym (p. 71) s. Services due to a deity, a guru, a superior by birth, or natural obligation, the obligations of a slave to his master, and sometimes those of a child to his parents, தொண்டு. (c.) 2. [prov.] Convict labor, தெருவூழியம். உமக்குநான்செய்யவேண்டியவூழியமென்ன..... Have you any commands to give me (the language of compliment though among equals)? ஊழியகாரன், s. One employed in convict labor, or in services according to the first definition, தொண்டன் ஊழியஞ்செய்ய, inf. To perform services due to the deity, the state, guru, &c., தொண்டுசெய்ய. பண்டாரவூழியம், s. Public services to a government. 3)

ēmpu (p. 79) கிறேன், ஏம்பினேன், வேன், ஏம்ப, v. n. To be at one's wit's end, &c., ஏக்கமடைய. 2. To rejoice, to be overjoyed, களிக்க. (p.) இத்தெருவேயேம்பித்திரிவாரிவராரோ. Who can this be wandering about the street in anxiety? சோம்பரென்பரேம்பித்திரிவர். The idle will be, perplexed. (ஔவை.) 41)

teru (p. 256) s. [vul. தெருவு.] High way, public road, வீதி. 2. Street, வழி, (c.) என்குறையைத்தெருவிலேவையாதே. Expose not my faults, (lit.) put not my faults in the streets. நாலுதெருவும்ஒருதெருவாய்த்திரிய. To walk the street, especially as a harlot. தெருக்கதவு--தெருவாசல், s. A streetdoor. தெருக்காவல், s. Patrole of the streets. தெருவிலேபோக, inf. To pass through the street. 2. To be wasted, squandered, வீணாக. தெருவிலேபோட, inf. To throw into the street. 2. To be negligent, to waste. தெருவீதி, s. nālu (p. 275) --நால், adj. Four, நான்கு. 2. (fig.) Many, general, multifold, universal, all, பல, as நாலுவித்தையும்.--Note. In combination before, க, ச, த, ப, the ல், becomes ற் and before ஞ, ந, ம, it is changed to ன்; sometimes to லா as நாலாகாரியமும், divers matters, various affairs, concerns, circumstances. நாலுகல்வியும். Different branches of knowledge. நாலுகாரியமுமறிந்தவன். A man of general knowledge, one acquainted with men and things. நாலுகையிலும். On all hands, on all sides. நாலுசாதியும். All the castes. 2. They faced him on all sides. நாலையும்பார்த்துச்செய்யவேண்டும். One should act with due consideration of the whole matter. ஆலும்வேலும்பல்லுக்குறுதிநாலுமிரண்டுஞ்சொல்லுக் குறுதி. As the splint of the banyan and வேல் trees gives strength to the teeth (by rubbing them), so நாலடியார், and குறள், give strength to the speech. நாலடி--நாலடியார், s. The title of a poetical book on morals having four lines to each verse, and four hundred verses; or the book which ascended, according to the legend, four feet against the stream of the river Veiga, at Madura. நாலாஞ்சடங்கு--நாலாநாட்சடங்கு, s. Bathing of the new married pair on the fourth day with the ends of their cloths tied together. நாலாமுறைக்காய்ச்சல், s. Quartan fever. நாலாம்வருணம், s.
