There are some varieties of honey; குறிஞ்சித்தேன், wild honey from the hills; கொசுத்தேன், பொந்துத்தேன், சிறுதேன், honey of a very small bee; பெருந்தேன், good honey from the hills produced by large bees; கொம்புத்தேன், honey from a bunch of a tree in a comb; செந்தேன், red honey of high flavor. தேன்கூட்டிலேகல்லைவிட்டெறியலாமா. Would one stone a bee's nest? தேனழித்தோர்கையைநக்காரோ. Will not those who handle honey lick their fingers? தேனும்பாலும்போலே. United as closely and sweetly as honey and milk. தேனிறால், s. [vul. தேனிறாட்டு.] Honeycomb, தேன்கூடு. தேனீ, s. A bee, தேன்கூட்டுமீ. (c.) தேனூற, inf. To flow with honey, to be melifluous. 2. To be pleasant, gratifying. தேனூறுமலர். The honey-forming flower. தேனெறும்பு, s. The largest kind of emment, fond of sweets, பெரியஎறும்பு. தேனொழுகல், v. noun. Drops of honey. தென்கடல், s. One of the seven seas, the sea of honey, ஓர்கடல். தேன்கதலி, s. A sweet kind of plantain, ஓர்வாழை. தேன்குழல்--தேன்குழாய்--தேங்குழல், s. A kind of pastry fried in ghee, fritters, ஓர்பண்ணிகாரம். தேன்குழலுரல், s. A mould for making this pastry. தேன்குழற்கம்பி, s. A piece of pastry. தேன்கூடு, s. A bee's nest or hive, தே னீக்கூட்டம். 2. Cells in a bee's nest. தேன்கூட்டினுட்குழி. 3. Honey-comb, தேனி றால். தேன்தோடை-தேன்றோடை, s. [prov.] The orange tree or fruit. See தோடை. தேன்பூச்சி, s. As தேனீ. (R.) தேன்வதை, s. tōṭai (p. 264) s. [prov.] Different kinds of Citrus--as lemons, citron, and oranges. Of the latter are, கைச்சற்றோடை, of a bitter kind; தேன்றோடை, a sweet orange; புளித்தோடை, a sour kind.
