toṭu (p. 262) கிறேன், தொட்டேன், வேன், தொட, v. a. To touch, to come in contact with, to feel, to perceive by thr touch, பரிசிக்க. 2. To handle, to take hold of, to finger, to use, பிடிக்க. 3. To be connected or united, to be joined, &c., பொருத்த. 4. To begin, தொடங்க. (c.) 5. To discharge an arrow or other missile weapon. அம்பெய்ய. 6. To eat, உண்ண. 7. To dig, to scoop out, to excavate, தோண்ட. 8. To put on shoes or a garment, தரிக்க. தொட்டாற்றோழன்விட்டால்மாற்றான். A friend if persevered, in and a if neglected; spoken of an art. தொடப்படாது. I cannot give you; (lit.) Cannot touch. தொட்டுக்கண்ணிலேயொற்றிக்கொள்ள......To touch the feet of an idol or great person and then apply the fingers, to the eyes; as if saying, 'I worship your feet.' 2.
