iṟaicci (p. 57) s. Flesh, meat, மாமிசம். 2. One of the seven constituent parts of the body. See தாது. இறைச்சிகுத்தி, s. A spit. இறைச்சிப்பொருள், s. The properties, productions derived from the கருப்பொருள் of a soil. (See அகப்பொருள்.) 2. [in rhetoric.] A figurative mode of speech by which a country is described in relation to the productions or properties derived from its கருப்பொருள்--as குறிஞ்சிப்பூக்கொண்டு பெருந்தேனிழைக்குநாடு, a country enriched with the sweetest honey extracted from its mountainflowers. ஊன்
ūṉ (p. 72) s. Flesh, தசை. 2. Meat, மாமிசம். 3. Serum, marrow, fat, கொழுப்பு. 4. (p.) The body, உடல். ஊனைக்குறித்தஉயிரெல்லாம்நாணென்னும்நன்மைகு றித்ததுசால்பு. As the life depends on the firmness of the body, so accomplishments depend on modesty. ஊனிலாயாக்கை, s. Fleshless bodies (of demons). (தொல்காப்.) ஊன்கழிந்தசங்கு, s. A conch-shell deprived of its flesh. ஊன்கெடினுமுண்ணார்கைத்துண்ணற்க. Though you lose your flesh (by hunger), eat not with those with whom it is not proper to do so. (நாலடி.) ஊனுருக்கி, s. கொன்றை
koṉṟai (p. 147) s. [improp. கொன்னை.] A genus of flower trees, கடுக்கை. Cassia,L. சரக்கொன்றை, சிறுகொன்றை, செழுமலர்க்கொன் றை, திருக்கொன்றை, புலிநகக்கொன்றை, பெருங் கொன்றை, பொற்கொன்றை, மயிர்க்கொன்றை, முட் கொன்றை, are varieties of கொன்றை. See those words. கொன்றைக்காய், s. The pods of the Cassia fistula--are sold as a drug, the pulp of them is taken as an electuary for costiveness, the flowers are also used medicinally. [Ainslie vol. l. p. 66.] கோ 9. Cow-dung, சாணி. 2. The properties or peculiarities of a cow; any thing cow-like whether in appearance, make, smell or otherwise, ஆவிற்குரி யதன்மை; [ex மயம், likeness.] W. p. 3. GÔMAYA. 3. ctai (p. 159) s. [for தசை, by transposition of the letters.] Flesh, மாமிசம். 2. The pulpy part of fruit, பழத்தின்சதை. (c.) 3. The முன்னை tree. 4. The பாலை tree. 5. [Tel.] A pair, a set, சோடு, ஒத்தது. சதையுள்ள இடத்திலே கத்தியாடும். The knife will be directed to the fleshy parts, i. e. rich folks are generally looked to for help, &c. சதைப்புஷ்டி--சதைக்கொழுப்பு, s. Fatness, lustiness, stoutness. சதைபுரள, inf. To be sprained. (R.) சதைவளர, inf. To cicatrize. 2. To form, or grow, as flesh. சதைப்பொருத்தி, s. A water-plant, (lit.) the flesh joiner, ஓர்நீர்ப்பூடு. சதைகழப்புணித்தனம், [prov.]. cuyam (p. 194) s. (Sa. Svayam.) Self; being; selfexistence, தானாகுகை. 2. Peculiarity, identity, individuality, ஏகத்துவம். 4. Natural habits--as opposed to acquired; reality, originality, genuineness, சுபாவம். 5. Spontaneity, சுயபுத்தி. 6. [prov.] Continuity, perpetuity, constancy, நிதம். சுயகருமம், s. One's own ceremony. சுயகாறுபாறு, s. One's own authority. (R.) சுயகர்த்தன், s. An independent lord. சுயகாரியம், s. One's own affair, private duty. சுயகாரிய துரந்தரன் பரகாரிய பராமுகன். One zealous, in his own business, but neglectful in that of others. சுயகுணம், s. One's own peculiar nature, temper, disposition. 2. Being natural to one, not affected. சுயகுரு, s. One's own guru, the guru of the family or caste. 2. Siva--as the guru, or enlightener of souls. சுயசாதி, s. One's own tribe. சுயசாதிமானம், s. Partiality for persons of one's own caste. Seem சுயசாதியபிமானம். சுயசினேகம், s. Self love, தற்சினேகம். (R.) சுயஞ்சோதி, s. The deity as having light in himself and enlightening souls. சுயதன்மை, s. Own peculiar nature; 'sui-generis.' சுயதேசம், s. One's own country--as சுதேசம். சுயநீலம், s. A genuine sapphire. சுயபாஷை, s. One's own language. சுயபாரபத்தியம், s. Arbitrary power. சுயபுணர்ச்சி, s. Self-pollution, onanism. சுயபுத்தி, s. One's own sagacity, poliey, discretion. 2. A right mind, sobriety, as opposed to derangement, intoxication, fascination, passion, &c. See சுபாவம். சுயபோக்கு, v. noun. One's peculiar nature, temper, disposition. சுயமனுஷாள், s. [prop. சுயமனுஷர்கள்.] One's own relatives. (Colloq.) சுயமாயாடுஞ்சூத்திரம், s. An automaton or self-moving machine. சுயமானபால், s. Unadulterated milk. சுயமாமிசம், s. One's own flesh, kindred. (Christ. usage.) சுயமாய், adv. Of one's own accord, spontaneously. 2. [prov.] Constantly. சுயமானவிவேகம், s. Original genius. சுயம்பாகம், s. Cooking. 2. Cooking for one's self. 3. [with. ஒரு.] Provisions, stores for a meal for one person. சுயம்பாகங்கொடுக்க, inf. To give rice for cooking, in charity. சுயம்பாகம்பண்ண, inf. To cook. சுயம்பாகி, s. [vul. சோம்பாகி.] A cook, மடையன். சுயம்பாட, inf. To make poetry naturally, as one endowed with poetical genius. 2. To make original poetry. (c.) 3. To alter a tune by new composition, flourishes, &c. சுயம்பிரகாசம், s. Original light as in the deity. 2. Original radiance--as of gems, &c., மணியின்கண்ணொளி, (p.) சுயம்பிரகாசன், s. The possessor of light, as enlightener--as சுயஞ்சோதி. சுயவலது, [vul.] One's own capacity or power. (c.) சுயவிருப்பம், s. One's own liking, own choice. சுயாதிபதி, s. An independent sovereign; [ex அதிபதி.] சுயாதிபத்தியம், s. Independent sovereignty, தன்னிஷ்டஆளுகை. சுயாதீனம், s. (also சுவாதீனம்.) Freeagency, independence. 2. One's own right, one's own property. 3. Freedom, liberty, emancipation--opposite to பராதீ னம்; [ex ஆதீனம்.] சுயாதீனன், s. A free agent, one who is his own master. சுயேச்சை--சுவேச்சை, s. Free will, liberty of choice; [ex சுய, et இச்சை.]
தாமசம்
tāmacam (p. 233) --தாமதம், s. One of three qualities or principles in nature--that of darkness, ignorance, delusion, sluggishness, முக்குணத்தொன்று. (See குணம்.) W. p. 372. TAMASA. 2. Dilatoriness, tardiness, drowsiness, துக்கம். 3. Delay, detention, தடை. 4. Slowness, dullness, sluggishness, inactivity, மந்தகுணம். 5. Reluctance, backwardness, unwillingness, பிரிய வீனம். (c.) சொல்லுகிறதுதான்தாமசம். You no sooner direct than he complies. தாமசசிருட்டி, s. The creation of evil or powers of evil. தாமசபதார்த்தம், s. Variety of food and drinks, மதுமாமிசமுதலியன. தாமசபுராணம், s. A Purana with tamasa imperfections. தாமசப்பிரகிருதி, s. One of a bad disposition, also a sluggard, சோம்பன். தாமசவேளை, s. A time of anger or passion. 2. As தாமதவேளை. தாமசன்--தாமதக்காரன், s. A slow, inactive person. தாமதப்பட, inf. To be delayed, to be detained. 2. To linger, to be tardy, to be reluctant. தாமதப்பல்லி, s. A lizard chirping in such a direction in the house as to denote delay, obstruction, misfortune. See வரத்துப்பல்லி. தாமதம்பண்ண, inf. To delay, to detain, to prolong, to retard. தாமதவேளை, s. [in astrology.] The division of the day--it being in three parts--which is most unfavorable for enterprize. 55) *
துன்
tuṉ (p. 251) [a change of the Sanscrit prefix, துர் before some soft letters, as ம் and ன்.] Evil, ill. Compare சன். துன்மதி, s. Folly, wickedness, அவமதி. துன்மரணம், s. A violent, untimely, or unhappy death, அகாலமரணம். துன்மனம், s. [also துர்மனம்.] An evil mind, vicious disposition. துன்மாதிரி, s. Bad example. துன்மாதிரிகாட்ட, inf. To set a bad example. துன்மாமிசம், s. [also துர்மாமிசம்.] proud flesh in an ulcer, கெட்டஊன். 2. A disease, sore, ஓர்நோய். துன்மார்க்கம், s. [also துர்மார்க்கம்.] A vicious course of conduct, a wicked life, vice, immorality, கெட்டவழி. துன்னிமித்தம், s. Ill omen, bad sign in general, துர்நிமித்தம். துன்னெறி. s. Vicious conduct. 36) *

tur (p. 249) s. A prefix used in combination signifying evil, ill, bad, deficient; it is often changed to ற், before the hard letters, to ன் before the soft, as துன்மார்க்கம். Before இடையினம், there is no change. Sometimes ர் is dropped and the relative letter takes its place--as துச்சரிதம், ஒருபசர்க் கை. (See துஷ்.) W. p. 414. DUR. துரதிஷ்டம், s. Ill luck. (c.) துராசாரம், s. Wickedness, depravity, perversity, a vicious life, தீயொழுக்கம். 2. Indecorum, indecency, immodesty, அவ மரியாதை. துராசாரன்--துராசாரி, s. One who violates the rules of his religion, caste. country, &c., a vicious person of vile character. துராசை, s. Evil desires, lust, covetousness, &c. துராத்துமா, s. An evil person, a retch, rescal, scoundrel, villain, தீயன். துராலோசனை, s. Bad counsel, prejudicial or evil advice. துரிச்சை, s. Evil desire. See இச்சை. துர்க்கதி, s. A wicked life, bad course, கெட்டநடை. 2. (also துர்கதி.) Hell, நரகம். துர்க்கந்தம், s. (also துற்கந்தம்.) Offensive smell, stink, கெட்டநாற்றம். துர்க்கருமம்-துர்க்கன்மம்-துஷ்கருமம், s. Evil actions either in performance, or as accumulated and attaching to the soul. துர்க்கன்மபரிபாகம்--துஷ்கன்மபரிபா கம், s. Ripening or exhaustion of the evil actions of former births. துர்க்கீர்த்தி, s. Ill fame, infamy. துர்க்குணம், s. (also துற்குணம்.) Bad disposition, ill humor, a vicious course, தீக்குணம். துர்க்குணன், s. A vicious, wicked man, தீயன். துர்க்குறி, s. Evil omen, bad sign, unfavorable symptom, ominous gesture. துர்ச்சரிதம், s. (more properly, துச்சரி தம்.) Evil practice, evil courses. துர்ச்சனம், s. Badness, viciousness, maliciousness, mischief, வன்மம். 2. Lewdness, lasciviousness, wantonness, மோக லீலை. 3. Insubordination, refractoriness, rebellion of a youth or dependant, &c., செருக்கு. துர்ச்சனநடத்தை--துர்ச்சனவியோகம், s. Vicious conduct, a vicious course. துர்ச்சனன், s. A petulant or insolent man. துர்ச்சனனைக்கண்டால்தூரவிலகு...... Abstain from an insolent person. துர்ச்செய்கை, s. Evil action. துர்ச்சொப்பனம், s. (also துச்சொப்ப னம்.] A bad or ominous dream. துர்த்தேவதை, s. A malignant demon. துர்ப்பலம், s. Weakness, feebleness, thinness, emaciation, பலவீனம். 2. (fig.) The state of being reduced in circumstances, சிறுமை. முன்னமேதுர்ப்பலைஅதிலுங்கர்ப்பிணி. Before weak, and now also pregnant; or poor, and under a heavy fine. துர்ப்பலன், s. Ill result as predicted in astrology. அமங்கலப்பயன். 2. Bad fruit, ill consequence. துர்ப்பாக்கியம்--தௌர்ப்பாக்கியம், s. Evil, calamity, ill-luck, misery, நிர்ப்பாக் கியம். துர்ப்பிட்சம்--துர்ப்பிக்ஷம், s. Famine, பஞ்சம். See பிட்சம். துர்ப்பீசம், s. An illegitimate child, வம்புப்பிள்ளை. See பீசம். துர்ப்புத்தி, s. Folly, presumption, foolhardiness infatuation, wickedness, evil propensity; கெடுமதி. 2. Ill-advice, bad counsel, துராலோசனை. துர்ப்போதனை, s. Bad instruction, illadvice, கெட்டஉபதேசம். துர்மனம், s. An evil mind. துர்மார்க்கம், s. com. துன்மார்க்கம்.) An evil life. துர்மாமிசம், s. (also துன்மாமிசம்.) Proud flesh in a wound, &c. 6) *

Vishnu, as நரசிங்கம்; [ex அரி, lion.] நரவாகனம், s. A palankeen as supported by men, சிவிகை. 2. A man as the vehicle of Kuvera, குபேரனைச்சுமப் போன். நரவாகனன், s. matu (p. 342) s. [gen. மதுவின்.] Sweetness, literally or figuratively. இனிமை. 2. spirituous liquor, கள். 3. Wine, ardent spirits; liquor distilled from the blossoms of the இருப்பை tree, இருப்பைப்பூத்திராவகம். 4. Honey, தேன். 5. The nectar or honey of flowers, பூந்தேன். 6. Pollen of flowers, மகரந் தம். 7. The month March--April, சித்திரை மாதம். 8. The season of spring, வசந்தகாலம். 9. The name of a daitya; also of a demon slain by Vishnu, ஓரரக்கன். W. p. 637. MAD'HU. மதுகம், s. A kind of fish, ஓர் மீன். மதுசகன், s. Kama, காமன்; [ex மது, spring and சக, for சகி, friend, the spring being favorable to love.] மதுசூதனன், s. Vishnu, the destroyer of மது demon, விட்டுணு. மதுபதி, s. The goddess காளி. (சது.) மதுபம், s. A bee--as sucking honey; [ex ப, that drink.] மதுபானம், s. [appel. மதுபானி.] Sweet, and intoxicating liquor. மதுமத்தை, s. A flower-plant, whose flower is worn by Siva, ஊமத்தை. மதுமாமிசம்--மதுமாம்சம், s. Toddy and flesh; luxurious living. மதுரசம், s. Juice of the moon-plant, Asclepias acida; (lit.) sweet juice. 2. Sweetness of flavor or in speech, இனி மை. 3. (சது.) The vine, முந்திரிகை. மதுவம், s. Sweet liquor, கள். (சது.) 20)
மலடு
mlṭu (p. 345) s. [as adj. மலட்டு.] Barrenness, பாழ். 2. A barren beast, வித்தில்லாத விலங்கு. (c.) அறுவகைமலடு. Six kinds of barrenness in women. They are: 1. வாதபித்த மலடு, sterility from bad humors; 2. கிருமிமலடு, by worms in the uterus; 3. சீதமலடு, by mucus; 4. வாயுமலடு, by flatulency; 5. சூதகமலடு, from hysterics; 6. துன்மாமிசமலடு, from fungus formations. மலடன், s. [fem. மலடி.] One incapable of procreation. மலடிமாந்தம், s. A disease in children. மலட்டுப்புழு--மலட்டுப்பூச்சி, s. A worm said to be in a barren womb causing sterility. மலட்டுமாடு, s.
