கொதி
koti (p. 146) v. noun. Bubbling up, as boiling water, நீர்க்கொதி. 2. Heat in the body, சூடு. 3. Anger, rage, கோபம். 4. Fever, febrile symptoms in the body, காய்ச்சல். 5. Slight diarrh&oe;a, கொதிக்கழிச்சல். 6. Grief, sorrow-regret yearning. துக்கம்; [ex கொதி, v.] இன்னமொருகொதியிலேவெந்துபோம். It will be done with one boiling up. கொதிகொள்ள, inf. To cause heat and slight fever or diarrh&oe;a in the body. கொதியிறக்க--கொதியெடுக்க, inf. To subdue one's pride. கொதியெண்ணி, s. [prov.] One wholly engrossed in looking for his food; (lit.) watching or counting the boiling of the pot. கொதியெண்ணெய், s. Medicinal oil, boiled but not strained. கொதியெழும்ப, inf. To be increased-as heat from the earth after a slight shower. 2. To have a slight internal fever. மாந்தக்கொதி, s. Fever from children from indigestion. வாதக்கொதி, s. Fever from plethoric humors. வெப்புக்கொதி, [prov.] Slight fever. சிலேட்டுமக்கொதி, s. [prov.] Fever from phlegmatic humors. பித்தக்கொதி, s. Fever from bilious humors. வயிற்றுக்கொதி, s. Hunger. 2. A slight diarrh&oe;a from heat. கண்கொதி, s. [prov.] Blight from an evil eye, or a malign look. 57)

curam (p. 195) s. Fever, febrile symptoms, காய்ச்சல். W. p. 356. JVARA. 2. Any of the seven tones of the gamut, ஏழிசை. (See சத்தசுரம்.) 3. A kind of flourish in the tune forming a symphony or interlude at the end of each line of a stanza, இராக பேதம். 4. Arrangement of notes in a tune in a musical composition, இராகத்தகுதி. (p.) (Sa. A knowledge of melody or tone in music. சுரச்சதி, s. A kind of variety in tunes. சுரமண்டலப்பெட்டி, s. A harpsichord. சுரமண்டலம், s. A harp. சுரம்போட, inf. To arrange notes to a musical composition. சுரம்போட்டுப்பாட--சுரம்பாட, inf. To sing the seven tunes, to run through the gamut. 2. To sing a symphony at the end of the lines. அபசுரம், s. Discord in music.

tai (p. 261) s. January, the month, ஓர்மாதம். 2. A sound in beating time, தாளக்குறிப்பி னொன்று. (c.) 3. The eighth lunar asterism, as பூசம். 4. Capricorn of the Zodiac, மகர விராசி. 5. (R.) [prov.] A Tuesday in January, auspicious. தைப்பிறப்பு, s. [com. தைமாதப்பிற ப்பு.] New year's day, astronomically; observed by boiling rice, to propitiate the favor of the sun, supposed to commence, at that time, his course northward. தைப்பிறை, s. The new moon as seen in January, observed to ascertain whether the year will be fruitful. தைப்பூசம், s. The day when the moon is in the பூசம், in January, being an auspicious time for eating the first rice, bathing, and taking oblations to the temple. தைப்பொங்கல், s. The festival of boiling rice in cow's milk. See தைப்பிறப்பு. தையறம், s. [prov.] The drying up of the rivers in January. 3)
வேம்பு
vēmpu (p. 402) --வேப்பமரம், s. [adjectively, வேப்பு.] The Margosa or Neem tree, Azadirachta Indica. There are two varieties, கருவேம்பு and மலைவேம்பு. Which see; சிவனார் வேம்பு and நிலவேம்பு are two different medicinal plants. வேம்புவிரும்பக்கரும்பாகும். If it wished, the bitter Margosa might become sugar-cane; i. e. 'where's a will there's a way.' அவனுக்குவீடுவேம்பாய்ப்போயிற்று. His house [wife], has become bitter, used by a married woman. வேப்பங்கள், s. Sour juice that oozes from some Margosa trees, taken medicinally for venerial eruptions, &c. வேப்பங்காய், s. Its unripe fruit or drupe. வேப்பமுத்து, s. The seeds of the வேம்பு. வேப்பம்பட்டை, s. The bark of the வேம்பு, used as a tonic and febrifuge. வேப்பம்பலகை, s. Boards from the tree. வேப்பிலை, s. The leaves of the வேம்பு used medicinally, and as a charm for possessed persons, or animals, and those bitten by poisonous reptiles. வேப்பெண்ணெய், s. The oil extracted from the seeds. வேம்பின்றாரோன், appel. n. An epithet of the Pandya kings. See நிம்பத்தாரோன். 47)
