To feed, make a full meal --as a dinner, &c., புசிக்க. 3. To enjoy, suffer, experience, or receive the fruits of actions performed in former births, or in future the actions of the present, அனுபவிக்க. 4. To imbibe, absorb, விழுங்க.--Note. With verbal roots and sometimes with verbal nouns it forms a passive--as அடியுண்ண, to be beaten; அலையுண்ண, to be distressed. உண்டசுற்றமுருகும். Relations or friends who have eaten together will cherish towards each other kindly feelings. உண்டசோற்றுக்கிரண்டகம்பண்ணப்படாது. One ought not to be ungrateful to his benefactor. உண்டார்மேனிகண்டாற்றெரியும். A person's diet may be known by his appearance. உண்ணக்கைசலிக்க. To be so delicate as to tire by eating--as a dainty child, &c. 2. To be wearied, cloyed, sated, &c. by too profuse a supply of food. உய்யாவினைப்பயனுண்ணுங்காலை. To be hindered. மையுண்கண்ணி, s. A woman with painted eyes, (lit.) she whose eyes have absorbed paint. முலையுண்ணுங்குழந்தை, s. An infant at the breast. நீலுண்டுகிலிலை. Love on one side not yet reciprocated, love-intrigue, கைக்கிளை. ஒருதலைதுணிதல், v. noun. [in literature.] An author's choice or decision between two different sentiments found in the writings of others, 32--உத்தியி லொன்று. ஒருதலைநோவு--ஒருதலைவலி, s. Pain on one side of the head. ஒருதலைப்பாக்கு, s. [prov.] An imperfect arecanut, defective on one side. ஒருதலைவழக்கு--ஒருதலைநியாயம், s. Partiality in giving judgment, statements, descriptions, &c., leaning to one side or party, an ex-party statement. ஒருதலைவழக்குநூலினுஞ்செம்மை. The statement made by only one party in a suit is straighter than a line; i. e. one tale is good till another is told. ஒருதன்மை, s. Being of one and the same kind, ஒருவிதம். 2. Incomparableness, ஒப்பற்றதன்மை. 3. Unchangeableness, மாறாமை. ஒருதாரை, s. One edge. 2. adv. [prov.] At once, altogether, without interruption, ஒருமிக்க. ஒருதாரைக்கத்தி, s. One edged sword. ஒருத்தன், s. (fem. ஒருத்தி.) One person, one man, one only, denoting speciality, either good or bad. ஒருத்தருமில்லை. There is nobody. ஒருத்தரும்வரவில்லை. No one is come. ஒருத்தரொருத்தராய். One person at a time, singly. ஒருத்தரோடொருத்தர். One with another. ஒருத்தனுமப்படிச்செய்யான். No one will ever do so. தேவரீரொருத்தரேகருத்தர். Thou only art the Lord. அவனொருத்தன்வந்தான். He only is come. 2. That fellow is come. ஒருநெல்லுப்பெருவெள்ளை, s. [prov.] A kind of rice, ஓர்வகைநெல். ஒருநேரம், s. An unseasonable time. இவனிராத்திரியொருநேரத்தில்என்வீட்டுக்குவந் தான். He came last night to my house at an unseasonable hour. ஒருபடி, adv. Tolerably, ordinarily, ஒருவாறு. 2. In some degree, to some extent, ஒருவிதம். ஒருபடிசெய்துமுடித்தார்கள். They have done it, finished it, &c. with great labor. 2. They have done it defectively, exceptionably, not thoroughly. ஒருபடித்தாய். So and so, tolerably. ஒருபடியாக, inf. [used as an adverb.] In some sense, manner, degree, partly. 2. Tolerably, passably, in some way or other. 3. With great pains, with difficulty--as in escaping, &c. ஒருபவம், s. [as ஒருபிறப்பு.] One birth. ஒருபார்வை, s. Steadfast look, directing the eyes to one object, ஒருநோ க்கம். ஒருபாவொருபஃது. s. A பிரபந்தம் or poem of ten verses. ஒருபிடி, s. Firm determination, உறுதி. 2. Firm trust or dependence, ஒரேபற்று. 3. Stubbornness, persistence or perseverance, பிடிவாதம். ஒருபிரகாரம், adv. After a fashion, in a certain degree, to some extent. உன்முகமொருபிரகாரமாகத்தோன்றுகிறது. Your countenance appears strange. அவனொருபிரகாரமானவன். He is a singular kind of man. ஒருபுடை, s. In some respects, partly, to some extent. ஒருபுடைசெல்லல்--ஒருபுடைசே றல், v. noun. Going on one side, ஒருபக்க மாய்ப்போதல். ஒருபுடையொப்புமை, v. noun. Having an imperfect analogy. ஒருபொருட்டீவகம், [in rhetoric.] An ellipsis by which one word qualifies, or is qualified by a succession of dependent words, ஓரலங்காரம். ஒருபொருட்பன்மொழி, s. [in grammar.] An allowed tautology, மீமி சை--as நாகிளவண்டு, a young beetle; புனிற் றிளங்கன்று, a young calf. ஒருபொருள், s. One substance or being, i. e. God, கடவுள். ஒருபொழுது, s. One time, ஒரு காலம். 2. Eating once a day, ஒருசந்தி. ஒருபொழுதிப்படி ஒருபொழுதப்படி. In one view it is thus, in another it is not so. ஒருபொழுதுசாப்பிடுதல். Taking but one meal a day. ஒருபோகு, s. [in prosody.] A member of a certain verse, கொச்சகக்கலிப்பாவி னுளொன்று. ஒருபோக்கு, s. The same manner, ஒருவிதம். 2. v. noun. Going at one time, ஒருமுறைபோகுதல். ஒருபோக்காய்ப்போக, inf. To be gone forever--an imprecation. ஒருப்பட, inf. To become one, to unite, combine, coalesoe, ஒருங்குபட. 2. To be unanimous, to consent, மனமொக்க. 3. Close application, concentration of the mental powers, மனமொன்றுபடுகை. ஒருமட்டம்--ஒருமட்டு, s. Equality in size, qualifications, &c., ஓரளபு. ஒருமரம், s. One tree. 2. (p.) The அழிஞ்சில் tree. He is dispirited, dejected. 2. He is indisposed, out of health. ஒருவகையாய்ப்பேசுகிறான். He speaks in a peculiar way, unseemly or unfriendly, out of the way. ஒருவிதமாயிருக்க, inf. To be indifferent. ஒருவந்தம், s. Intentness of mind on an object, inclination, concentration of the powers of the soul, ஒற்றுமை. 2. A place of retirement or seclusion, தனித் திருக்குமிடம். 3. Connection, unity, relation, combination, சம்பந்தம். ஊக்கமொருவந்தங்கைத்துடையார். They who are intensely energetic. (குறள்.) ஒருவயிற்போலியுவமை, s. One for, or in behalf of another. ஒருவர்க்கொருவர். One with another. ஒருவிசை, s. One time, once. ஒருவியாழவட்டம், s. A revolution of Jupiter round the sun; i. e. twelve years. ஒருவினைச்சிலேஷை, [in rhetoric.] A figure in which the verb conveys two different meanings, சிலேஷையணியிலொன் று--as அம்பொற்பணைமுகத்துத் திண்கோட்டணி நாகம்--வம்புற்றவோடைமலர்ந்திலங்க, உம்பர்-நவம்புரியுமாநதியுநாண்மதியுநண்ணத்--தவம்புரி வார்க்கின்பந்தரும். ஒருவேலைக்கிருவேலை, s. oṟṟu (p. 84) s. A mute consonant, மெய் யெழுத்து. 2. Spying, espionage, searching, agency, வேவு. 3. A messenger, an agent or emissary, தூதன். 4. A spy, வேவுகாரன். ஒற்றர், s. Spies, searchers, emissaries, வேவுகாரர். 2. The confidential agents or messengers of a prince whether employed in his own dominion or another's, for a good or bad purpose, தூதர். ஒற்றராலக்கணத்தேயுணர்ந்து. Being acquainted (with the counsels of the enemy) at that time through the spies. (பார.) கன்னலொன்றளவைதன்னிற்கந்தவேளொற்றன்யா க்கை சின்னபின்னங்களாகச்செய்குவன். I would tear to pieces the body of Veeravagu, Skandar's emissary, in the space of an hour. (ஸ்காந்.) ஒற்றளபு--ஒற்றளபெடை, s. The insertion of a consonant in verse to lengthen the sound. See அளபெடை. ஒற்றாடல், v. noun. The act of directing spies. ஒற்றாளுதல், v. noun. Employing spies or secret messengers, தூதரையாளுதல். ஒற்றுக்கேடு, s. The elision of a consonant. ஒற்றுக்கேட்டல், v. noun. Overhearing. ஒற்றுப்பெயர்த்தல், v. noun. [in மி றைக்கவி.] Constructing a species of verse so artfully that, independent of the main sense, other meanings may be contained in it, மிறைக்கவியினோருறுப்பு--as அம்புத்தலை, the head of an arrow is அப்பு த்தலை, when the mute is hardened--which means the new head--besides the original meaning. ஒற்றெழுத்து, s. An inanimate consonant, மெய்யெழுத்து. ஒற்றொழிபாட்டு, s. A verse that contains no mute consonants, மெய்யெழு த்தில்லாப்பாட்டு. 27)

oṟṟai (p. 84) s. One of a pair, ஒன்று. 2. Odd numbers--as 1, 3, 5, &c., odd, ஒற் றையெண். 3. Singleness, தனிமை. 4. Soleness, uniqueness, absoluteness, தன்னந்தனி. 5. A leaf in a book, தனியேடு. 6. A row of small patches of ground in a corn-field, adjoining one side of a cross channel. ஒற்றையோஇரட்டையோ. Is it even or odd? ஒற்றிக்க, inf. v. n. To be odd as numbers--as 1, 3, 5, ஒற்றைப்பட. 2. To be unwavering, be settled in mind or purpose, to be decided, ஒன்றுபட. ஒற்றித்தமனம், s. A single mind, sincerity. 2. Freedom from doubt, decision of mind. ஒற்றித்தவெண், s. Odd numbers, ஒற்றைப்பட்டவெண். ஒற்றைக்கண்ணன், s. Venus, சுக் கிரன். 2. kuvera, குபேரன். (p.) ஒற்றைக்குடை, s. An unique umbrella--an emblem of independent sovereignty. ஒற்றைக்குடையினாளுதல், v. noun. Exercising absolute sovereignty. ஒற்றைக்கொம்பன், s. Ganesa, the single-tusked--as an elephant, the other tusk having been broken off, வினாயகன். ஒற்றைச்சார், s. [prov.] A house without an area in the centre. ஒற்றைத்தாலி, s. A single wedding ornament without the accompaniments which are sometimes added on a future day. See சங்குந்தாலியும். ஒற்றைத்தாழ்ப்பூட்டு, s. A lock with a single bolt or a single lock. ஒற்றைத்துலா, s. A well-lever formed of one solid timber, ஒற்றையேற்றம். See மூட்டுத்துலா or நெம்புத்துலா. ஒற்றைநூல், s. A three-twined sacred thread--as worn by a bachelor. ஒற்றைநூற்புடவை, s. Single threaded cloth, தனியிழை. ஒற்றைப்படவெண்ணுதல், v. noun. Counting by odd numbers. 2. Counting things one by one. ஒற்றைப்பட்டு, s. One of several strings of a necklace, folds, strands. ஒற்றைப்பட்டுமணி, s. A single necklace. ஒற்றைப்பார்ப்பான், s. A single brahman, whose sight is deemed inauspicious whether as the first object in the morning, or at any time on leaving home for some special purpose. ஒற்றைப்புரிக்கயிறு, s. A rope formed of a single strand, ஒருபுரிக்கயிறு. ஒற்றையாழித்தேர், s. The chariot of the sun being single-wheeled, சூரியனு டையதேர். ஒற்றையாழித்தேரோன், s. The sun --he whose chariot has but one wheel, சூரியன். (p.) ஒற்றையாள், s. A single person-as a traveller, an inhabitant or as one having no relations, ஒருஆள். ஒற்றையிதழ்ப்பூ, s. ōtu (p. 84) கிறேன், ஓதினேன், வேன், ஓத, v. a. To recite the vedas with appropriate intonations, aspirations, &c.--being one of the six duties of the brahman; to chant a sacred eulogy in the temple, வேத மோத. 2. To read, learn, recite audibly in order to commit to memory, படிக்க. 3. To speak, say, declare, சொல்ல. 4. To repeat prayers--as the Romanists and Mohomedans, செபமுச்சரிக்க. 5. To give advice, persuade clandestinely, to teach one to act with duplicity, புத்திசொல்ல. 6. To utter incantations, to consecrate, மந்திரமுரைக்க. ஓதாதார்க்கில்லையுணர்வுடனொழுக்கம். Knowledge and good manners are not to be found in unlearned men. ஓதாமலொருநாளுமிருக்கவேண்டாம். Employ your whole time in the pursuit of knowledge. ஓதுவதொழியேல். Cease not to learn. (ஔ வை.) எண்ணெயோதிக்கொடுக்கிறது. To administer holy oil to women in labor. காதிலேயோதிவிட்டான். He has given him secret advice, he has prevailed on him by underhand or secret means. நூறுநாளோதியாறுநாள்விடத்தீரும். The traces of learning made in a hundred days will be effaced by indolence in six. ஓதியிறைக்க, inf. To sprinkle holy water. ஓதியுடைக்க, inf. To break a cocoanut with appropriate incantations. ஓதிவிட, inf. To cease reading. ஓதினநீர், s. Holy water, consecrated water. ஓதுவான், s. A teacher of the vedas, and other sacred literature, ஆசா ன். 2. A learner, a scholar, a student, படிப்பவன். 3. The eulogist of the god of the temple whose duty it is to chant the verses directed by the attending priest, திருப்பாட்டுப்பாடுவோன். ஓதுவானெல்லாமுழுவான்றலைக்கடையில். The scholar must wait at the backdoor of the ploughman; i. e. learning is dependent on the plough. ஓதுவிக்க, inf. To teach the vedas, வேதங்கற்பிக்க. 2. To teach science, instruct, படிப்பிக்க. ஓதல், v. noun. Reciting the vedas, &c. 2. Reading. 3. Learning, speaking. ஓதலினன்றேவேதியர்க்கொழுக்கம். Good manners in a brahman are preferable to the recitation of the vedas. ஓதற்றொழிலுரித்துயர்ந்தோர்மூவர்க்கும்.
