The planets in the Hindu system are nine, called நவக் கிரகம், viz.: 1. ஆதித்தன் or ஞாயிறு, the sun. 2. சோமன் or திங்கள், the Moon. 3. அங்காரகன் or செவ்வாய், Mars. 4. புதன், Mercury. 5. பிரகற்பதி--பிரகஸ்பதி or வியாழன், Jupiter. 6. சுக்கிரன் or வெள்ளி, Venus. 7. சனி, Saturn. 8. இராகு, Caput draconis. 9. கேது, Cauda draconis. nimiru (p. 277) -நிமிர், கிறேன், நிமிர்ந்தேன், வேன், நிமிர, v. n. To become erect or straight; to be unbent, uncoiled; to stand upright; to raise or hold the head erect, உயர. 2. To grow high, to be lofty, to shoot up as a youth, or a tree, வளர. 3. (fig.) To be proud, affected, arrogant, மேட்டிமைசெய்ய. 5. To be bold, firm or decided, commonly in a good sense, இறுமாக்க. (c.) 6. To run, ஓட. 7. To be close, thick, crowded, நெ ருங்க. 8. To return as a planet from a retrograde motion, கிரகந்திரும்பிநடக்க. நிமிர்ந்துநில். Stand erect. வயிறுநிமிரப்பிடித்தான். He ate to the full. அவன்இங்கேநிமிர்ந்துபோட்டதுமில்லைகுனிந்தெடுத் ததுமில்லை. He neither stands erect here, nor stoops; i. e. has no place. நிமிர்ந்தஆள், s. A grown person. 2. A bold or proud man. நிமிர்ந்தநடை, s. [prov. நிமிர்ந்தகூறு.] Haughty or supercilious behavior, அகங் காரநடை. நிமிர்ந்தபார்வையாய்நடக்க, inf. To walk looking upwards, through pride or carelessness. நிமிர்ந்துகொள்ள, inf. To be firm in maintaining, denying, &c. நிமிர்ந்துநிற்க, inf. To stand erect. 2. To assert one's right with courage, as நிமிர்ந்துகொள்ள. நிமிர்ந்துபார்க்க, inf. To look with the heat erect. 2. To regard. படைமுழுதும் அவன் நிமிர்ந்துபார்க்கக்காணாது...
