aẕi (p. 32) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், அழிய, v. n. To decay, degenerate, perish, be corrupted, ruined, wasted, blighted, effaced, obliterated, abolished, demolished, annihilated, கெட. 2. To fail (as a promise), be frustrated as a hope, &c., be refuted, தவற. அழிகரு, s. Abortion, கருவழிவு. அழிகுட்டி, s. A miscarriage, an abortion applied chiefly to brutes--the casting of the young, வயிற்றில்மரித்தது. அழிந்தோரைநிறுத்தல், v. noun. One of the eight constituent parts of virtue, அறத்துறுப்பு. அழிபுண், s. A foul ulcer, ஆறாப் புண். (M. Dic.) அழிமதி, s. Waste, extravagance, malicious intention, கெடுபுத்தி. அழிமுதல், s. Waste of property, as of capital, principal, &c. முதலழிவு. அழிம்பு, s. [vul.] The nin-payment of a debt or the non-restoration of another's property from dishonest motives, புரட்டு. 2. Ruin, devastation, injury, damage, கேடு. என்னுடையமைக்கழிம்புபேசுகிறான். He talks of destroying my property. அழிம்புசெய்ய, inf. To damage a thing. 2. To debauch a woman. அழிம்பன், s. [vul.] A spendthrift, a profligate, ஊதாரி. 2. One who makes excuses for not paying debts, restoring property, &c., புரட்டன். அழியாதபத்தினி, s. A name of D'hurupary, the wife of the Pandu princes. அழியாமுதல், s. Property devoted or entailed in perpetuity to a temple or other charity, நிலையான ஆஸ்தி. 2. God, கடவுள். அழியாமை, neg. v. noun. Incorruption, immortality, imperishableness, கெடாமை. அழிவழக்கு, s. An unjust lawsuit, a groundless prosecution, a frivolous or groundless defence, a lost lawsuit, அநி யாயவழக்கு. கற்பழியாதபெண், s. A pure virgin. அழிகை, v. noun. Destruction, decay, ruin, சிதைவு. அழிவு, v. noun. Decay, injury, ruin, loss, desolation, the act of perishing. கேடு. 2. That which has perished of itself, கெட்டது. 3. Fault, immorality, (in a restricted sense,) deviation from rule, குற்றம். அன்றுகண்டமேனிக்கழிவில்லை. Just the same appearance as before. அழிவின்மை, neg. v. noun. Freedom from decay. அழிவுகாலம், s. The time of a universal deluge and destruction at the end of an age, யுகமுடிவு. கடையழிதல், v. noun. Suffering extremely. நிறையழிதல், v. noun. Being disheartened, dispirited, without hope. 7)

(காசிகரண்டம்.) அழிகட்டு, s. A fabrication either varbal or written to deprive another of his right, a forgery, (a law term), பொ ய்ச்சீட்டு. 2. An excuse, pretence, subterfuge, வீண்போக்கு. 3. Obstacle, impediment, hinderance, தடை. 4. Means used for counteracting magic, poison, &c. மாற்று. அழிச்சாட்டியம், s. Improper treatment, an unlawful or wicked proceeding. வாங்கின கடனைக்கொடாம லழிச்சாட்டியம் பண் ணிவருகிறான். He gives much trouble by delaying to pay the debt. அழிச்சாட்டியக்காரன், s. A turbulent fellow, a bully. அழிப்பு, v. noun. Destroying, ruining, wasting, consuming in an active sense, அழிக்கை. அழிப்பாளி, s. A spendthrift, squanderer, prodigal, profligate, ஊதாரி. 8)

icai (p. 45) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. n. To join, unite, blend, mingle, இணைய. 2. To agree, suit, be adapted to, to accord with, பொருந்த. 3. To combine, harmonize, to accord in sound, இராக ஓசையொ வ்வ. 4. To consent, assent, comply, உடன் பட. 5. To be matched, be like, to pair, become fellows, சரிப்பட. இசையாதாயினும். urai (p. 65) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. [vul. உரைஞ்சு.] To be rubbed into a powder or paste, to wear away by attrition, to be indented, or effaced by rubbing, தேய. காரியமெல்லாமுரைந்துபோயிற்று. The earing corn. கருவுயிர்க்க, v. n. To bring forth young either human or brute, ஈன. கருவுளமைப்பு, s. A title suffixed to the name of males in some families of the Vellalar caste, also a respectful appellative given to any male of this class, and sometimes to others, ஓர்பட்டப்பெயர். 5. The young of animals living on the branches of trees, as the monkey, &c., கோட்டில்வாழ் விலங்கின்பிள்ளை. 6. The young of the swine, deer, cat, hare, &c., பன்றி, மான், பூனை, முயலி வற்றின்குட்டி. 7. The god Bhairava, வைரவன்; [ex பிள், bursting, as the amnios at birth or பீள்.] (சது.) பிள்ளையவர்கள்வருகிறார்கள். The master is coming--used by the Vellalas. பிள்ளைக்கு விளையாட்டு சுண்டெலிக்குச்சீவன்போ கிறது. It is play to the child, but death to the mouse. பிள்ளாயெனல், v. noun. Speaking kindly to a junior. ஏன்பிள்ளாய். Well, child! ஆண்பிள்ளை, s. A male child; a man, &c. See ஆண். பெண்பிள்ளை, s. A female child; a woman. See பெண். பிள்ளைக்கரைத்தல், v. noun. Procuring abortion. பிள்ளைகொல்லி, appel. n. Infanticide. 2. A disease fatal to infants, ஓர்நோய். 3. A kind of assaf&oe;tida, ஓர்பெருங்காயம். பிள்ளைக்கட்டி, s. The f&oe;tus in the early stages of pregnancy. பிள்ளைக்கவி, s. A species of poetic composition. See பிள்ளைத்தமிழ். பிள்ளைக்கற்றாழை, s. A common species of கற்றாழை, used medicinally, being always green. பிள்ளைக்கிணறு, s. A small well or hole sunk within a well. பிள்ளைக்கைவளை, s. Bracelets worn by children பிள்ளைக்கோட்டை. s. A small fort, forming an entrance to the larger, சிறு கோட்டை. 2. A citadel. பிள்ளைச்சோமன், s. A small சோமன் cloth for a boy or girl. பிள்ளைத்தக்காளி, s. A shrub. See தக் காளி. பிள்ளைத்தமிழ், s. A poem celebrating the different stages in the infancy and childhood of a hero, comprized in ten parts: 1. காப்பு, putting on the armrings, with magical rites; 2. செங்கீரை, first voluntary movements of the child compared to the motion of herbs by the breeze; 3. தால், lulling the child in the cradle with songs; 4. சப்பாணி, the first clapping of its hands; 5. முத்தம், kissing; 6. வாரானை, extending its hands and calling to be taken; 7. அம்புலி, showing the moon to the infant; 8. சிறுபறை, amusement of a small drum; 9. சிற்றில், making (in play) little houses, or trampling on those made by girls; 1. சிறுதேர். drawing little carriages.--Note. When a heroine is described, instead of the last three, the following are substituted, eighth கழங்கு, a kind of play with brass balls; ninth அம்மானை, a curious play with balls; tenth, ஊசல், swinging. There are two more compositions, bearing this title, one by குமரகுருபரதேசிகர், in praise of மீனாட்சி, the goddess at Madura; the other, by மார்க்கசகாயதேவர், of the childhood of Skanda. பிள்ளைத்தாய்ச்சி, s. A pregnant woman. பிள்ளைத்தேங்காய், s. The best kind of cocoa-nut, reserved for planting, நாற்றுத் தேங்காய். (Jaff.) பிள்ளைத்தேள், s. A centiped; Scolopendra, as மட்டைத்தேள். பிள்ளைப்பிறை, s. The youthful moon, இளஞ்சந்திரன். (p.) பிள்ளைப்பூச்சி, s. A kind of insect, the Gryllus, உழுவான், which going into mud is not defiled--so the spiritual man. பிள்ளைபெற, inf. To bring forth a child. பிள்ளைபெறாதமலடி, s. A barren woman, used of one who is cruel. பிள்ளைப்பெற்றவீடு, s. The house of a lying-in-woman, considered ceremoniously unclean. பிள்ளைப்பேறு, v. noun. Child-birth. பிள்ளைப்பேறறிந்தவள், s. A midwife. பிள்ளையைமஞ்சணீர்குடிக்கிறது, v. noun. Drinking turmeric water; i. e. adopting a child. பிள்ளைமாபிரபு, s. [prov.] A nobleman, an eminent person, பெருமையிற்சிறந்தோன். பிள்ளைமார், s. [pl.] Respectable men, gentlemen; men of the பிள்ளை caste. பிள்ளைமை, s. Childishness, puerility, babyhood, any thing infantile, பிள்ளைத்தன் மை. பிள்ளையாண்டான், appel. n. A young man, a youth, boy, lad, வாலிபன். பிள்ளையார், s. The god Ganesa, sometimes, Skanda and Sambanda Mûrti. பிள்ளையார்சதுர்த்தி, s. A fast on the fourth day of the new or full moon in honor of the god Ganesa. பிள்ளையார்சுழி, s. A curve to represent பிள்ளையார். See சுழி. பிள்ளையுண்டாகுதல், v. noun. Becoming pregnant. பிள்ளைவங்கு, s. [prov.] A cavity or socket to receive the mast of a dhoney, பாய்மரம்நிறுத்தும்குழி. பிள்ளைவண்டு, s. A young beetle, இள வண்டு. பிள்ளைவிழுதல், v. noun. [vul.] Miscarrying, கருவழிதல். ஊத்தாம்பிள்ளை, s. A liar. பொய்சொன்னவாய்க்குப்பொரியும்கிடையாது.... The mouth of a liar will not get even the parched rice strewed on a corpse. பொய்ச்சத்தியம்--பொய்யாணை, s. A false oath, perjury. பொய்ச்சாட்சி, s. A false witness. 2. False evidence, கள்ளச்சாட்சி. பொய்த்தலை, s. A mask or a false head on a pole, pushed by thieves through a hole in the walls of a house, to receive the blows, if any be given. பொய்பட--பொய்ப்பட, inf. [v. noun. பொய்ப்பாடு.] To fail, to become abortive, வீணாக. 2. To prove false, பொய்யாக. பொய்ப்பத்திரம், s. A forged letter, bond or other document. பொய்ப்பார், s. A shallow stratum of rock, as found in digging wells. பொய்ப்பிஞ்சு, s. [prov.] Very young fruit that does not come to perfection. பொய்மூக்கு, s. Parts near the bottom of the nose. பொய்யடி, v. noun. A light or harmless sham blow. 2. [fig.] Blinding others by publishing false stories. பொய்யன், s. A liar, a falsifier. பொய்யுறக்கம்--பொய்த்தூக்கம், s. Unsound sleep. பொய்வாழ்வு, s. mñcḷ (p. 339) s. Indian saffron, long-rooted turmeric, அரித்திரம், Curcuma longa.--Ofturmeric are different kinds, as கஸ்தூரிமஞ்சள், Amomum, L; கப்புமஞ்சள், கொச்சிமஞ்சள், a superior kind from Cochin; கறிமஞ்சள், another kind used for curries; கிழங்குமஞ்சள், turmeric with round roots; விரலிமஞ்சள், that with slender roots; மரமஞ்சள், a tree and its root so called, very bitter, and medicinal. See திரிமஞ்சள். (c.) மஞ்சட்பாவாடைபோர்த்துக்கொள்ளுகிறது. Putting on a saffron-colored cloth, a religious ceremony. மஞ்சட்கடம்பு, s. A tree, Nanclea cordifolia. மஞ்சட்கரு, s. The yolk of an egg. A kind of jaundice, causing yellowness of the eyes. மஞ்சட்காளான், s. A yellow kind of mushroom. மஞ்சட்கொத்து, s. A bunch of turmeric-root, and leaves. மஞ்சட்சாமந்தி--மஞ்சட்செவ்வந்தி, s. A species of சாமந்தி with yellow flowers. மஞ்சட்டிரளை, s. Balls of turmeric taken by a widow to the funeral pile and given to relations, in token of her blessing; [ex திரளை.] மஞ்சட்டுணி, s. [vul. மஞ்சத்துணி.] A little piece of cloth dipped in turmeric water and applied to a sore eye. மஞ்சட்டேறு, s. A root of turmeric. See தேறு. மஞ்சட்பட்டு, s. Saffron-colored silk. மஞ்சட்பாவட்டை, s. A shrub, Red dye-root, Morinda citrifolia. மஞ்சணத்தி--மஞ்சணாற்றி, s. A kind of tree. See மஞ்சணுணா. மஞ்சணிறம், s. Yellow color. மஞ்சணீர், s. Turmeric-water with other ingredients for sprinkling on a company at the close of a temple-festival, or marriage; [ex நீர்.] மஞ்சணீர்குடித்தல், v. noun. Drinking turmeric water, in adopting a child. மஞ்சணீர்ச்சீட்டு, s. A written agreement of adoption. தத்தபுத்திரஉடன்படிக்கை. மஞ்சணீர்ப்பிள்ளை, s. An adopted child. மஞ்சணீர்விளையாட்டு--மஞ்சள்விளையா ட்டு, s. Play with turmeric-water, at the close of a temple-festival, or at a marriage.--Note. Lime is often added to heighten the color, and cause mischief. மஞ்சணுணா--மஞ்சணத்தி--மஞ்சணாற்றி, s. A kind of நுணா tree, the timber of which is a bright yellow. மஞ்சணை, s. [contr. of மஞ்சள்நெய்.] Red paint with oil smeared by females, எண்ணெய்க்குங்குமம். [Southern usage.] மஞ்சளலரி, s. A species of அலரி. மஞ்சளாலாத்தி, s. The ceremony of waving turmeric-water about an idol, to dispel the blight of unlucky eyes. மஞ்சளிளங்கலையன், s. [prov.] A kind of rice. See இளங்கலையன். மஞ்சளெண்ணெய், s. Turmeric-oil, used medicinally. மஞ்சள்பூசுதல், inf. [v. noun மஞ்சட்பூ ச்சு.] To smear the person with turmeric water--as females, for beauty or good luck. மஞ்சள்மந்தாரை, s. A மந்தாரை shrub. மஞ்சள்வசந்தம், s. A joyful ceremony, in which turmeric is used, ஓர்சடங்கு. மஞ்சள்வாடை, s.
