Love, affection, intimacy, tender regard, friendship, சிநேகம். 6. A symbolic verb used as a noun with meanings similar to those of உரிமை, being peculiar to a person, or thing--as duty, obligation, property, quality, &c., உரியது. 2. s. Relative duty and care as of a child to his parents, the teacher to his pupils, the Guru to his disciples, the husband to his wife, and vice versa, கடமை. 3. Affection, பட்சம் உரித்தாக்கிக்கொள்ள, inf. Want of right or privilege. உரிமையெடுக்க, inf. To take possession, to enjoy or claim one's share of an inheritance, produce, &c. உரிமைவழி, s. Consanguinity, lineage, ancestral connection, சம்பந்தமுறை. 2. Inheritance or right of possession from ancestors, தொன்றுதொட்டுவருஞ்சுதந்தி ரம். உரிமைவிட, inf. To give freedom to, to manumit a slave. சொல்லுரிமை, s. A fine emphatic expression. உரியது, s. That which is proper to, peculiar to, tending to, liable to, exposed to, deserved, deserving, worthy of, appropriate to, obnoxious to, உரித்தா னது. இததற்குரியசொல். This is the appropriate word for it. உரியதண்டனை, s. Condign punishment, deserved chastisement. உரியபொருள், s. The primary meaning of a passage, உரியவர்த்தம். 2. Those parts of the Vedas which inculcate works, rites, and ceremonies, கருமகாண்டம்--opposed to ஞா னகாண்டம். கிரியாங்கம், s. Worship, rites and ceremonies, chiefly applicable to prescribed individual practice--as preparing the sacred ashes, repeating the incantations, touching the joints of the fingers while repeating them, &c., கிரியையுறுப்பு. கிரியாங்கம்பண்ண, inf. To perform the several external actions in the daily worship. கிரியாசத்தி, s. lit. The operative energy or power. [in the agama philosophy.] One of the three active or female energies of Siva, by which he effects the creation or evolution of the universe. 2. the faculty or power of action, operation, &c., as applied to any agent. (சிவ. சி.) கிரியாசாதனம், s. Being trained or inured to the performance of works, religious duties, &c., கிரியையனுட்டிப்பு. கிரியாசைவம், s. One of the sixteen divisions of the Siva system. See சைவம். கிரியாசொரூபன், s. One who is the embodiment, கிரியை; (appropriately) Ganesa, who is considered the impersonation of Siva's divine operations. கிரியாதீதன், s.கிரியையொழிந்தவன். கிரியாபதம், s. Interment, (lit.) a secure disposal of the corpse. 2. Preparation of a corpse for taking it to the funeral pile or grave. (c.) சவத்துக்குமாரடிக்க, inf. To beat the breast at a funeral, in grief, &c.; also used as a curse. சவந்தளம்ப, inf. To be termulous, as the corpse when carried; sometimes supposed to be caused by a demon shaking it, and regarded as ominous of other deaths in the family. சவப்பெட்டி, s. A coffin. சவம்விழ. [prov.] A guard. 2. A trusty, confidential person. 3. A thrifty. careful person. சேமங்களைவிசாரிக்க, inf. as சேதிவிசா ரிக்க.) To inquire after one's welfare. சேமங்கொள்ள, inf. [prov.] To smear a place with cowdung, lay a corpse there and dress it, for the funeral pile, or the grave. சேமகாலம், s. Time of prosperity or plenty--opposite to சாமகாலம். சேமதருமம், s. Those regarding the body or சத்தாங் கோபகராம் are: 1. அன்னம், food, giving boiled rice, உணவு; 2. பானம், drink, குடிக்க நீர்; 3. அம்பரம், raiment, வஸ்திரம்; 4. மந்திரம், a dwelling, இடம்; 5. தாசபாலனம். preservation from slavery, அடிமைகாத்தல்; 6. காராமயத்திரிதயமோசனம், removing the three afflictions of captivity, சிறைநோய் மூன்றுந்தீர்த்தல். viz.: restraint from the calls of nature, மலசலவாதை; corporal punishments, சரீரதண்டனை; chains, fetters, விலங்கு போடல். 7. சவச்சேமம், burial, பிரேதமடக்கல். There are eight other kinds of benevolence. 1. பிறர்க்குப்பொருள்வரவையுவத்தல், rejoicing in a neighbor's wealth; 2. பிறர்செல்வம்பொறுத்தல், being content in seeing a neighbor's welfare; 3. பிறர்கருமத் திற்குடன்படுதல், assisting in other's business, with interest; 4. தீமைக்கஞ்சல், fearing to do evil; 5. பிறர்கருமமுடிக்கவிரைதல், hastening to assist others; 6. பிறரையந் தீர்த்தல், removing other's doubts; 7. நன் மைகடைப்படித்தல், preserving in doing good; 8. பிறர்துயர்க்கிரங்கல், commiserating the distress of others; sympathizing with the afflicted. 19) *

A charitable or virtuous disposition, motive, intention, object, &c. தருமசிவாசாரி, s. A name of the gurus of the mercantile caste. தருமசீலன், s. (fem. தருமசீலி.) A charitable person piously disposed. தருமசூட்சுமம், s. A nice and difficult point in pleading. தருமஞ்செய்ய, inf. To do charitable and virtuous acts. தருமதானம், s. Beneficence, charitable gifts. தருமதேவதை, s. The goddess of virtue born from the right breast of Brahma, அம்பாலிகை. 2. The vehicle of Siva in the form of a bull, நந்தி. 3. (fig.) A good woman, உத்தமி.--Note. The goddess is described as placing four feet on the earth in the golden age; three in the next, or silver age; two in the brazen; and only one in the iron age. தருமநடை, s. A spot made on the forehead of children by rubbing the finger on the smeared floor and touching it, மண்ணைத்தேய்த்திடுந்திலதம். 2. A kind of medicinal fungus, ஓர்காளான். நிலப்போங்கு, s. Quality of soil, good or bad, as affecting plants. நிலமகள், s. The earth as a goddess, பூமாதேவி. நிலமகன், s. The planet Mars, செவ் வாய், symbolically described as a son of பூமிதேவி. நிலமட்டம், s.
