kuṉṟi (p. 132) s. A medicinal climber, yielding the beautiful குன்றிமணி bean, Abrus precatorius, L. Wild Licorice; of which, there are three sorts, viz.: செங்குன்றி, வெண் குன்றி and கருங்குன்றி. 2. A jeweller's weight, equal to about two grains troy, அரைமஞ்சாடி. 3. A kind of native arsenic, மனோசிலை. குன்றிநிறக்கண்ணன், s. One whose eyes are as red as those of the குன்றிமணி. 2. A wild boar, so called because of the redness of its eyes, காட்டுப்பன்றி. குன்றிமணி, s. The seed of the குன்றி. குப்பையிலே போட்டாலுங் குன்றிமணி மங்காது. Though the குன்றி seed be cast into the dung-hill, it loses not its lustre; i. e. though one of high rank mingle with the lowly, he will not lose his standing. 71)

He has indirectly made a sarcastic allusion to me. அவன்கையைக்கொண்டே யவன் கண்ணிற் குத்தி னான், He has taken hold of his neighbor's hand, and thrust it into his eyes; i. e. he has employed his neighbor's means to injure him. குத்தித்தைக்க, inf. To sew through and through. குத்துக்கோல், s. A horse or ox goad. தாற்றுக்கோல். 2. A pike-staff, முட்கோல். குத்துமுள், s. A spur, குதிரைமுள். குத்துவாள். s. A dirk, a hand-dart or bayonet, உடைவாள். குத்தீட்டி, s. A poniard. குத்துவல்லையம், s. A hand-javelin--opposed to எறிவல்லையம். குத்தூசி, s. A kind of wooden needle, for roofing or hedging. அம்மைகுத்த, inf. To vaccinate. பச்சைகுத்த, inf. To tattoo; lit. to puncture and insert a blue dye. பல்லுக்குத்த, inf. To pick the teeth. மூக்குக்குத்த, inf. To perforate the nose. குத்திக்கொல்வோன், s. One who kills another by stabbing, an assassin. குத்துக்கொம்பு, s. [prov.] Perpendicular horns. குத்துக்கரணம், s. A somerset. நிலைகுத்த, inf. To be set in or fixed --as the eyes of one just breathing his last. சாந்துகுத்த, inf. To pound chunam or mortar. நெல்லுக்குத்த, inf. To pound paddy. பேன்குத்த, inf. To crack or crash lice. குரும்பைகுத்த, inf. [prov.] To pluck young cocoanuts, &c. அள்ளிக்குத்த, inf. [prov.] To give liquid food stintingly. 2. To drop a little water on plants, &c. குத்துவலி--குத்துக்குடைச்சல், v. noun. Throbbing or pinching pain, stitches. குத்திப்பேச, inf. To make a cutting remark. குத்தியள்ள, inf. To take up grain, &c., by thrusting the hands in perpendicularly. குத்தல், v. noun. Puncturing, pricking --as one of the eight kinds of impressions perceived by the sense of feeling. 2. Ramming; thrusting, stabbing, &c. குத்தார்க்கு, s. [local.] Withe, cord, &c., inserted in the hole of a குத்தூசி needle. குத்து, v. noun. Pounding in a mortar, உரலிற்குத்துகை. 2. A blow with the fist, a cuff, a buffet, a box, கைக்குத்து. 3. A thrust, a stab; a puncture, a prick, an incision, a goading, ஈட்டிமுதலியவற்றாற்கு த்துகை. 4. The peck of a stork, மூக்கினாற்கு த்துகை. 5. An acute, throbbing, twinging pain, ஓர்நோய். 6. A dot, a point, a tittle; a spot--commonly with a pointed instrument, புள்ளி. 7. A double handful of grain, &c., the hands being thrust in perpendicularly. 8. [prov.] A handful, ஓர் கையளவு. 9. Perpendicularity, steepness--as in செங்குத்து. குத்துண்டுபோவாய்--குத்துண்பாய். May you be stabbed--an imprecation. ஒருகுத்துச்சோறு. A double handful of boiled rice, with the hands thrust in perpendicularly. குத்துமி, s. Husk--as separated from rice by pounding. குத்துவெட்டு, s. Stabbing and maiming. --either in scuffles, robbery or war. 2. Dots and strokes--as erasures, பிழைபட் டதைக்கிறுக்கித்தள்ளல். குத்துப்பாடு, v. noun. Censuring or charging one with a fault; violent contention; lit. piercing, retortion. அந்தவேலைமேற்குத்துப்பாடுசொல்லுகிறான். He finds fault with the work. குத்துக்காயம், s. A wound by a stab; a stab. அடப்புக்குத்து, s. [prov.] Stabbing in the ribs, விலாக்குத்து. தலைக்குத்து--மண்டைக்குத்து, s. Piercing pain in the head; head-ache. முலைக்குத்து, s. Piercing pain in the breast. முலைக்குத்தைஅறியுமாசவலைப்பிள்ளை. Does the babe know the mother's breast-ache? குத்துண்ண, inf. To be beaten, pierced, stabbed, &c. குத்துப்பட. குத்துணி, s. One stabbed, குத்துண்ட வன். 2. A mean, vagabond, shameless fellow. குத்துப்பட்டுவிழ, inf. To fall, or drop down pierced. குத்துக்குநிற்க, inf. To stand on points, each urging his own reasons; to contend, to oppose-as rivals. 2. To haggle in dealing. குத்துகால்-குத்துக்கால், s. The uprights of a frame-as of a car; a piece of furniture, support, தாங்குகால். குத்துக்காலிட, inf. To sit or lie with bent legs; [ex குந்து.] குத்துக்கால்நாட்ட, inf. To fix or plant the uprights. குத்தாய்நிற்கிறமலை, s. A mountain standing perpendicularly. குத்துவிளக்கு, s. Standing lamp, a brass candlestick. குத்துக்கல்-குத்்தாங்கல், s. A perpendicular stone. குத்துக்கல்லாய்வைக்க, inf. To build with bricks set upon the edge. குத்துக்குளம்பு, s. The hoof of oxen, horse, &c., falling perpendicularly, not spreading-regarded as a good species for speed. குத்துப்பாறை, s. Small, perpendicular heaps of stones in the vicinity of a rock. 2. [local.] The horizontal part of a rock where women pound paddy. குத்துப்போர், s. The first layer of sheaves of corn in a stack, placed with the ears uppermost, நிறுத்திட்டமாய் வைக்குஞ் சூடு. 2. Boxing, fisticuffs, மற்போர். குத்துப்புள், s. [prov.] The place where the புள் stick falls perpendicularly in the கிட்டிபுள்ளு game. குத்தெனவீழ, inf. [prov.] To fall headlong, தலைகீழாய்விழ. 2.
