If you persist in thus traducing me, you will have a boil in your throat; i. e. you will be seriously distressed--a curse. கட்டாக்காலி, s. An ox or cow suffered to run wild, or not folded by night. கட்டாணி, s. a fastening for a female ear-ring, கடைப்பூட்டாணி. கட்டிக்காக்க, inf. To preserve, guard, to protect. கட்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To give a daughter in marriage. 2. To make, build, construct, &c., and give one. கட்டிக்கொள்ள, inf. To take in marriage. 2. To hug, to embrace. 3. To contract, to lay up, to accumulate as moral deeds, virtue or vice, for future retribution. 4. To do a good action. பாவத்தைக்கட்டிக்கொள்ள. To contract guilt, to commit a sin. மாங்காய்ப்புளிதொண்டையைக்கட்டிக்கொண்ட து. The acid of the mango has caused a constriction in my throat. என்னபலனைக்கட்டிக்கொண்டாய். What hast thou obtained? கட்டிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To throw the arms round a person, to hug, to embrace, to grasp, to seize. கட்டிப்புகுந்தவள், s. A widow that has married again. கட்டியடிக்க, inf. To tie and flog, whip, &c., கட்டுகரை, s. A mole, a pier to defend shipping in a harbor. கட்டுசரக்கு, s. Mercury, &c., consolidated. கட்டுத்தாலிகட்ட, inf. To marry a widow. 2. To take a woman to wife-this may be done, if the man has no child by his first wife, with her consent, who acknowledges its validity by tying the marriage symbol round the neck of the new bride. தன்னைக்கட்ட, inf. kulukku (p. 127) கிறேன், குலுக்கினேன், வேன், குலுக்க, v. a. To shake--as a vessel, a palankeen, &c.; to shake up, to shake up and down, to jar, to jolt, to agitate, அசைக் க. 2. kuḷikai (p. 130) --குடிகை, s., A pill, a bolus, மாத்திரை. Wils. p. 294. GULIKA. and 291. GUD'IKA. தம்பிஒருரசகுளிகையாக்கும். He seems like one who has taken a magical pill. குளிகாசித்தி, s. The power of magic by means of mercurial or other pills, enabling persons to pass through the air instantaneously. குளிகைகட்ட, inf. To make, by a chemical process, pills, common or magical. 2. To consolidate--as mercury, &c., இறு கச்செய்ய. 3. To tie a pill about the body --as an amulet, or medical preventive against poisonous bites. 4. To fasten a magical pill on the body in order to obtain supernatural power, சித்திக்குளிகை கட்ட. குளிகையிட, inf. To insert a pill in an incision made in the body; to check or counteract the influence of poisonous bites, &c., or to communicate supernatural powers. குளிகையுருட்ட, inf. To roll pills. குளிகைவார்க்க, inf. To give a dissolved pill. சித்தர்குளிகை, s. A magical pill by which one is supposed to be enabled to fly where be may please, and perform supernatural feasts. தம்பனக்குளிகை, s. A magical pill by which one is supposed to be enable to suppress, or stop, the natural course of things. 14)

kuḷir (p. 131) -- குளிரு, கிறது, ந்தது, குளிரும், குளிர, v. n. To be cold, chilly, frigid; to be cold to the touch; to be moist, damp, குளிர்கொள்ள. 2. To be cool, to be refreshed, குளிர்ச்சியுற. 3. To be refreshing, gratifying, pleasant, cheering to the touch, sight or hearing; to be engaging, attactive, benignant--as the countenance, இதமாக. 4. To be appeased, consoled, comforted, சாந்தமுற. 5. To die--spoken of death in time of epidemies, when fear of the avenging goddess prevents the use of the proper word, வசூரிமுதலியவியாதியால்மரிக்க. அப்பாவென்றால்உச்சிகுளிருமா. Will merely saying அப்பா afford relief? i. e. not mere words, but actions are necessary. அவன்ஒரு குளிர்ந்தகொள்ளி. He is a coldblodded persons; a man of a fair speech, but an enemy at heart. இப்பொழுதுஎனக்குமனங்குளிர்ந்தது. I am now refreshed, satisfied, gratified, appeased, &c. உச்சிகுளிர்ந்தது. The head has been cooled or refreshed--as on hearing joyful intelligence, &c. எனக்குக்குளிருகின்றது. I feel cold. என்வயிறுகுளிர்ந்ததுபோல உன்மாளிகையுங்குளிர வேண்டும். May you and your family be refreshed as I have been--an expression of thanks for favors received. சரீரமெல்லாங்குளிர்ந்தது. The whole body is refreshed. குளந்தைஅம்மைவார்த்துக்குளிர்ந்துபோயிற்று. The child has died of small-pox. குளிரப்பண்ண--குளிரவைக்க, inf. To cool wines, spirits, &c. 2. To refresh, to satisfy the appetite, the mind, &c.; to regale, to oblige, to appease. கண்குளிரப்பார்த்தான். He feasted his eyes with a gratifying sight. காதுகுளிரக்கேட்டேன். My ears were refreshed by hearing. நிலங்குளிரமழைபெய்தது. It rained abundantly so as to cool the earth. மனங்குளிரக்கொடுத்தேன். I gave him as much as he desired. குளிர்ந்தகிரணம், s. A gratifying light, lustre, &c.--as of the moon, a gem, &c. குளிர்ந்தகுரல், s. A pleasant voice in singing. குளிர்ந்தசரீரம், s. A cool temperament of body. குளிர்ந்தநிழல், s. Refreshing shade. குளிர்ந்தநிறம், s. A gay, cheerful, fine color. குளிர்ந்தநீர், s. cool water. 2. Cooled water after boiling, &c. 3. Good water in gems. குளிர்ந்தபார்வை, s. The sea, ocean, a collection of water, கடல்; [ex இராசி, collection.] சலரோகம், s. Diabetes, நீரழிவு. சலவர், s. Inhabitants of maritime districts, (lit.) the water-people, or sea fairing men. Compare பஃறியர், திமிலர், கடலர், &c. சலவாதி, s. An angry person, தணியாக் கோபமுள்ளவன். 2. An obstinate, pertinacious person, குரோதமுடையோன். (p.) 3. [ex சலம் for சஞ்சலம், grief, et வாதி, declarer.] A person of the servile tribe employed to announce one's death to the relations, friends, &c., மரணசெய்தி சொல்வோன். 4. See சலபாதை. (c.) சலவாழைக்காய், s. Fish, (lit.) the water-plantain. See சலபுட்பம். சலாசயம், s. [in phys.] One of the five ஆசயம் of the body, the receptacle of the urine, the bladder. See பஞ்சாசயம். சலாதாரம், s. A pool, lake, reservoir of water--as சலதரம். (R.) 41) *

cli (p. 170) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், சலிக்க, v. n. To be sorry, to grieve, regret, deplore, lament, மனஞ்சலிக்க. 2. To be weary, to become exhausted, spent, tired, இளைத்தோய. (c.) 3. To wave, as in the wind; to be in motion, to be tremulous, agitated; to shake, wave, அசைய; [ex Sa. Chala, to shake.] 4. To sound, ஒலிக்க. [ex Sa. To be tired, as the hands and feet by labor. தின்றுசலித்துப்போக, inf. To be satiated by eating too freely--as servants at a wedding, &c. சலித்தல், v. noun. Moving, அசைதல், 2. Sounding, ஒலித்தல். (p.) சலிப்பு, v. noun. Sorrow, grief, regret, சஞ்சலம். (c.) 2. Agitation of mind, unsteadiness, perturbation, wavering, மனச்சலனம். 3. Motion, tremulousness, அசைவு. சலிப்பாற--சலிப்புத்தீர, inf. tṭi (p. 222) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To thicken as a liquid, be inspissated, to congeal, உறைய. 2. To cohere; to form as primitive, subtile matter, into atoms, atoms into moulds or bodies; to consolidate, to assume a tangible form, திரண்டு தடிக்க. 3. To swell as the flesh from a stroke, to form a wale, வீங்க. 4. To grow large, full, plump as the breasts, &c., to become stout as a person, பூரிக்க. 5. To delay, linger, to be protracted, தாமதிக்க. 6. To become heavier, to be aggravated or enhanced--as an accusation, அதிகரிக்க. 7. [in burlesque.] To enlarge--as in pregnancy, புடைக்க. 8. To thicken, harden, indurate as the skin by slight poison, the contact of a caterpillar, &c., கடியினாற் றடிக்க. 9. To be thick, stout, hard, stiff --as a board, &c., வைரப்பட. In this sense used only in some parts of the verb. தடிக்கக்காய்ச்ச, inf. To thicken by boiling. தடிக்கப்பூச, inf. To daub, smear or paint thickly. தடித்தஆள், s. A stout, thick person. தடித்தபால், s. Thick milk. தடித்தமை, s. Thick ink, or paint. நாக்குத்தடிக்க, inf. To grow stiff or rigid, as the tongue by chewing betel. காரியந்தடித்துப்போயிற்று. The affair has become more aggravated. 8) *

tṭippu (p. 222) v. noun. Thickness of liquids, inspissation, consolidation, கடினம். 2. Swelling from a blow, a protuberance, வீக்கம். 3. Thickness of a solid substance as a board, &c., கனம். 4. Plumpness of a person, the breast, &c., பூரிப்பு. 5. (R.) A disease spreading over the body in pustules--as எச்சிற்றழும்ப; [ex தடி, v. n.] தோள்தடிப்பாயிருக்கிறது. A callous skin covers the shoulders. தடிப்பானபுகையிலை, s. Thick tobacco leaf--the best for chewing or smoking. 11)

tayā (p. 224) s. Favor, clemency, compassion, கிருபை. W. p. 4. DAYA. (Used only in combination.) தயாசமுத்திரம், s. A sea of grace. தயாசீலம், s. Grace, graciousness. தயாசீலன், s. A benevolent, gracious person. தயாபரன், s. (voc. தயாபரா.) The gracious god. 2. (fem. தயாபரி.) A beneficent man. நரசீலதயாபரர். God, who is bountiful towards men. தயாமூர்்த்தி, s. The incarnation of benevolence. தயாவிருத்தி, s. Increase of grace, கிரு பைமிகுதல். 2. The fourteen acts of beneficence, தயாவிருத்தி, 14.--The first seven relate to the soul, the other seven to the body. Of the soul; 1. களாபடனம், education, communication of knowledge, கல் விபயிற்றுகை; 2. வியாதாகாரம், comfort to the afflicted, consolation of mind, துயர்தீர்க்கை; 3. நிர்க்கத்தண்டனம், relieving from punishment, தண்டம்நீக்குகை; 4. சந்தேகவாரணம், removing doubts, contingency, &c., ஐயந் தேற்றுகை; 5. அன்னியகுணசகனம், hearing of the superiority of others without envy, and enduring their infirmities with patience, பிறந்குணத்தழுக்காறின்றிப்பொறுத்தல்; 6. பரதிருதுனயோகம், forgetting the evils inflicted by others and seeking to do them good, பிறராற்செய்யப்படுந்தீமையைமறந்தூன்றிநி னைக்கை; 7. பார்த்ததேவப்பிராத்திதம், praying for the prosperity and good of others, பிறர்நிமித்தந்தேவனைவழிபடுதல். Those regarding the body or சத்தாங் கோபகராம் are: 1. அன்னம், food, giving boiled rice, உணவு; 2. பானம், drink, குடிக்க நீர்; 3. அம்பரம், raiment, வஸ்திரம்; 4. மந்திரம், a dwelling, இடம்; 5. தாசபாலனம். preservation from slavery, அடிமைகாத்தல்; 6. காராமயத்திரிதயமோசனம், removing the three afflictions of captivity, சிறைநோய் மூன்றுந்தீர்த்தல். viz.: restraint from the calls of nature, மலசலவாதை; corporal punishments, சரீரதண்டனை; chains, fetters, விலங்கு போடல். 7. சவச்சேமம், burial, பிரேதமடக்கல். There are eight other kinds of benevolence. 1. பிறர்க்குப்பொருள்வரவையுவத்தல், rejoicing in a neighbor's wealth; 2. பிறர்செல்வம்பொறுத்தல், being content in seeing a neighbor's welfare; 3. பிறர்கருமத் திற்குடன்படுதல், assisting in other's business, with interest; 4. தீமைக்கஞ்சல், fearing to do evil; 5. பிறர்கருமமுடிக்கவிரைதல், hastening to assist others; 6. பிறரையந் தீர்த்தல், removing other's doubts; 7. நன் மைகடைப்படித்தல், preserving in doing good; 8. பிறர்துயர்க்கிரங்கல், commiserating the distress of others; sympathizing with the afflicted. 19) *
