[in reproach.] A prominence on the nape of the neck, through corpulence, புரைகுழல். ஏரிநிமிர்ந்தாலிடையனையும்பாராது. If the ox's hump grow too prominent, it will not submit to the herdsman; i. e. if one of low rank becomes great, he will despise his former superiors. அவனுக்கேரிமுற்றிப்போயிற்று. He is become contumacious, unruly, &c.--spoken of a slave boy when grown, &c. ஏரிகரைக்காட்டாமணக்கு, s. A little shrub, Jatropha glauca. ஏரிப்பாய்ச்சலானநிலம், s. kṉ (p. 102) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To be heavy, to become heavy, massive, solid, thick, hard, injurated, பாரமா யிருக்க. 2. To be thick, close, crowded, numerous, பருக்க. 3. To be abundant, copious, to outweigh, &c., அதிகரிக்க; the infinitive used adverbially expresses very much. கனக்கக்கொடுத்தான். He gave plentifully. கனத்தஉடைமைக்கனர்த்தமில்லை. A numerous family. கனத்ததோல், s. Thick skin--as that of a beast or of the hand, &c., hardened and thickened by labor. கனத்தநாள், s. A critical day in diseases--as the day of new or full moon, &c., when the influence of the planets is unusually powerful, aggravating disease, &c. On such days it is deemed improper to bathe, take medicine, &c. (c.). கனத்தபயிர், s. A thick crop. கனத்தபனி, s. A heavy dew. கனத்தமனிதன், s. A large heavy man. சரீரங்கனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To become heavy--as the body, by disease, humors, corpulency, &c. தலைகனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To grow heavy--as the head through cold. வயிறுகனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To have indigestion. 2. To eat a belly-full, to be well stuffed. 3. To become gravid; sometimes in this meaning, spoken in contempt, of pregnancy from illicit intercourse. கனப்பு, v. noun. Belonging or relating to the body. சரீரசவுக்கியம், s. Health, sound state of the body. சரீரசுத்தி, s. Cleanliness, or purification of the body. சரீரஸ்மரணை, s. [com. சரீரசுரணை.] Sense of feeling in the body. சரீரத்திரயம், s. A three-fold enumeration of bodies, as given in the Agama. 1. தூலசரீரம், the gross body which perishes at death. 2. சூக்குமசரீரம், the subtile or ethereal body, or case and immediate organ of the soul, accompanying that through its various transmigrations. It is the embryo or seed of the respective bodies assumed to be, and is, capable of sensations in enjoyment, suffering, &c., beyond those of the grosser body. 3. காரணசரீரம், the original type or embryo of the body, as existing with the soul in its original state. See under காரணம். Another three-fold classification describes bodies as assumed by the soul with its சூக்குமம் adapted to three different states to which it is subject, namely. 1. யாதனாசரீரம், a body adapted to suffering, assigned to the soul for its abode in the infernal regions. 2. பூத னாசரீரம், a body capable of the sensual felicities of சுவர்க்கம், or the abode of Indra. 3. பரிணாமசரீரம், changeable bodies, the bodies of the present state, in which moral actions are performed. சரீரநோய், s. Pains in the body from over exertion, walking, cold, &c. சரீரபுஷ்டி, s. Corpulency. 2. A healthy, thriving state of the body. சரீரப்போக்கு--சரீரப்போங்கு, s. The state of the body; different states of constitution. சரீரமரணம், s. [in Christ. usage.] Death of the body, oppo. to ஆத்துமமரணம், spiritual death. சரீரவதை, s. Mortifying the body by austere penance. சரீரவாகு--சரீரவாக்கு, s. The temperament of the body. சரீரவுபாதி, s. Bodily pain. சரீரவுறவு, s. Consanguinity, oppo. to ஞானவுறவு. (p.) சரீராவச்சின்னவான்மா, s. The individuated soul as it exists in bodies respectively--as distinguished or detached from the universal spirit, சீவான்மா; [ex சரீரம், et அவச்சின்னம், separated.] (சது.) சரீரி, s. A sentient soul, a corporeal being--oppo. to அசரீரி, an immaterial existence. சுகசரீரம், s. A healthy constitution, in which the three humors are in equilibrium. தூலீத்தசரிரம், s. tngkm (p. 221) s. (probably a corrupted use of Sa. Tanka.) A weight, used for gold and silver, fine or pure gold, மாற்றுயர்ந் தபொன். (c.) தங்கமானநிலம். Rich soil. 2. Clean ground, floor, &c. 3. Ground, &c., ceremonially pure. தங்கமானநெல்லு. Very nice paddy--spoken in praise. தங்கமானபிள்ளை. A very dear, beautiful or promising child, a very amiable, good child. தங்கமானகுணம் An excellent disposition. தங்கக்கம்பிபோலே. Like gold wire; i. e. a tall, handsome person of good size; fair and not corpulent. தங்கவிக்கிரகம்போலே. Like a golden statue; i. e. one of good colour, proportions, &c. தங்கமே! An expression of endearment. தங்கமானவன். A generous person, an excellent man. தங்கத்துக்கழிவில்லை. Pure gold will never wear away by the lapse of time. பத்தரைமாத்துத்தங்கம். Gold of the highest quality, a hyperbolical or fancied quality, the best gold known being only of the tenth degree. தங்கத்தைஉருக்கிவிட்டதுபோல. Shining in complexion, &c., as refined gold. தங்கக்கட்டி, s. Mass of gold. 2. (fig.) A very dear, beautiful child. தங்கக்காசு, s. Gold coin. தங்கக்காப்பு, s. Golden bracelets. தங்கக்காறு, s. There are different kinds of தடி--as இருப்புத் தடி, கிலுக்குத்தடி, குணுக்குத்தடி, சோட்டாத்தடி, நுகத் தடி, பாணாத்தடி, வளைதடி, which see severally. விறகுதடியாய்ப்போனான். He is greatly emaciated; (lit.) as fire-wood. [prov.] குயவனுக்குப் பலநாள்வேலை தடியடிக்காரனுக்குச்சற் றுநேரவேலை. Many day's work for the potter, but a few moment's for the breaker. தடிக்கம்பு, s. [loc. தடிக்கொம்பு.] A walking cane, or staff. தடிக்கம்புச்சாப்பாடு, v. noun. Flogging. See under சாப்பாடு. தடித்தனம், s. Rashness, passionateness, rudeness. தடிப்பயல், s. A stubborn person, a block-head. 2. A corpulent person. தடியடிக்காரன், s. A violent person, who acts inconsiderately. தடிமாடன், s. An impudent fellow; [ex மாடன், a demon.] தடியனாபிள்ளை--தடியாண்பிள்ளை, s. An impudent, or corpulent person. தடிபோட, inf. To measure by the long stick in the கிட்டிப்புள்ளு game. தடிமூக்குள்ளான், A kind of snipe. See உள்ளான். தடியன்--தடிமிண்டன், s. A stout, corpulent person, பருத்தவன். 2. A strong athletic man, ஆண்மையுடையவன். 3. An obstinate person, முருடன். குண்டாந்தடி, s. A baton. 6)
